Yikes. I mean his speech was all Cringe, but this is no good way to represent.
Nah, he fuckin' nailed it. SonicFox presented as SonicFox; shit that Republicans would line-by-line dislike. If they got mad at him for calling out himself being himself, he was dead-on fucking correct.

I love how fucking some random 19 year old who plays fighting video games for a living is supposed to be some non-plus political force instead of just making an aside comment.
His entire existence is a political statement to some people, it doesn't matter what or how he says anything they'll try and beat him down for it.

Considering the response even on this forum, it needed to be said.

Very hard to watch. But I get it...
Question is, where was his publicist?
How many sponsors, if any did he lose tonight?
you do not agree to give an open furry money to be associated with your brand if you're afraid of scaring old white people.

There are respectable people on both sides. Not all of them, and perhaps not even most of them. But we have much to learn from each other, regardless of our political leanings—and until we come to accept that, the division we're currently experiencing as a nation (and the destruction of the social fabric) is never going to heal.

Take it or leave it, but from the perspective of someone who is socially liberal and fiscally conservative, there is a lot wrong with both "sides" right now.
american history is at a point where if you find yourself ever both-sidesing anything, you are almost certainly fucking up. there is literally no valid comparison to be made between "only rich straight white christian men deserve a high quality of life" and "we need to stop pretending bigotry is an opinion with a place in a just, functional society."

also libertarian economic policy is a right-wing social position that handwaves away the basic economic concept of externalities to get doped up on the sweet sweet nectar of the just-world fallacy. it's just another form of "the status quo cannot be wrong, know your place in the world, shut up and take it" like the rest of the republican platform.

This show would be boring as fuck if everyone and everything had to look and behave "professionally".

To each their own. I think it's nice to see games being appreciated as art, and something I can watch actively with my family or roommates who aren't as into this stuff. I didn't attend this year, but did the two years before that. I thought it was funky people in the audience had no dress code. Granted, the show has improved leaps and bounds from it's Spike TV days. As long as we never go back to those cringefests then I'm fine enough.

You are aware his sponsors feature his fursona, as in a cartoon sexy twink blue anthropomorphic fox, in their promos, right? do you think they would drop him for this?

I do like how he gives absolutely no fucks. Haha.

You could even say, "he tells it like it is!", lol

Yup this.

At a show that's given awards to people like pewdiepie, boogie and had colin moriarty on stage, he definitely fucking nailed it and showed that some people in the gaming community can actually take a stand that isn't fucking toxic.

The show is 3/4 ads. If a person presenting themselves as who they truly feel they are is in any way more noticeable for calling out than that...you have your priorities misplaced, because that isn't games being treated as art, that's games being treated as a commodity. SonicFox was more honest than 95% of the show tonight.

SonicFox rules and completely owns ass at every fighting game he plays. I didn't think I could like him more than I did, but here we are.

Lol this kid gained a new fan. People need to stop acting so civilized when the other side is a toxic mess. They clearly aren't changing so might as well be blunt with them.
The funny thing is he didn't start with anything super inflammatory. He said "they dislike me for who I am".

He was then simply proven correct!

on that note, extremely on brand how that one dude who got super mad that I said he was offended apparently has a Civility Fetish

no problem with JonTron literally calling for a white ethnostate or the Cyberpunk 2077 social media team using trans people as punching bags but god forbid you call out White Conservatives :(((

I like Fox and his "lol fuck u" at the end was neat and everything, but fuck do I hate watching people doing public speaking who are that nervous/anxious. The anxiety is contagious. His speech was a series of nervous giggling and screeches with the bookend quote which is probably the only line he got out coherently.

Yup. SonicFox being himself and giving this speech at a venue that gave some shitty people a platform and rewards was awesome.

yeah I'm generally suspicious of people who have their profiles hidden because they tend to be functionally incapable of arguing in good faith

but go off about "grilling" like you ain't a hit dog hollering here wrt SonicFox's comments
Arguing in good faith? lol Is this a debate?

Like other of segments of tonight's VGA show, I found it to be cringe. It was pretty cringe lol

It find it rather odd that you went to try and comb my past posts though. Is that some sort of vetting process for you?

Since y'all were wondering what is so damning in that guy's post history that he'd want to keep it hidden while entering into debates and espousing some "that was cringe" and "both sides!" bullshit, I brought receipts. Let's play the hits

On it being fine for Trump to be a nationalist

He is the president of a country. Why would this be a surprise?

We have to be civil when debating the merits of racism, sexism, etc.

All of them, really. On Trump's presidency, racism, sexism, immigration, take your pick. These are all understandably sensitive issues, but sometimes civility seems to go out the window in some threads. Just an observation.

He was really keen on how people with low post counts are frequently banned for no reason at all. Nope. No reason other than post counts.

I've seen "low post count" as a penalty and grounds for issuing bans on multiple occasions.

The moderation on this forum is questionable.

But how can you know Trump and his supporters aren't good people when you haven't met them? Checkmate!

You saying it, not matter how passionate you personally may feel, doesn't make it a fact. You are making grand generalizations about people without ever having met them or conversed with them. That's pretty ridiculous and ironic when you're perfectly willing to make all of them out to be "not good" people. You're more than welcome to feel and think that way, but I think it's an extreme view and does virurally nothing to build better understanding.

This back and forth seems to be going in circles. I've said my peace, I'll end it here.

Kanye is a real hero for dining with Trump.

The alt-right NPC meme is hilarious apparently.

lol it's hilarious

"Terrifying" come on...

Guys, guys, you don't understand. Not everyone who votes Republican is a racist, homophobic piece of shit. They just support racist, homophobic pieces of shit by voting them into power and allowing them to marginalize and oppress minorities.
That's completely different.

Yep.

To the Republicans in the room: you shouldn't be distressed that Sonicfox called your party racist and homophobic. You should be distressed that he's right.

I thought the whole thing was adorable. As nervous as he was, his spirit came through very well. It was an expressive, charismatic nervousness.

99% of the internet would react the exact same way or just drop dead of a heart attack on the spot, myself included. Millions of eyes on you, but he still had the balls to be 100% himself, anxiety and all. You don't see that alot in this industry.

Anyway, I inch closer to my grave every time I read the word cringe.

it warms my heart to see all the republicans here and on twitter telling sonicfox "hey, i'm a republican and i just wanted to let you know i don't hate you".

if you think about it, they could be throwing temper tantrums instead. so humble.

So it wasn't my imagination that I thought Republicans secretly love furry culture than Democrats.
tbf (and anecdotally, because my best friend keeps winding up at furry conventions because they're apparently fun as hell to party at), at least some of the "furries are alt-right!" sentiment is just the fact that the alt-right literally never shuts the fuck up and it kinda skews the perception

His sponsor is Echofox, ala founder and CEO Rick Fox of Lakers ala won a bunch of championships with Shaq and Kobe. Rick Fox is one of the most open minded celebs when it comes to esports. He landed a gold mine when he signed Sonic Fox. World Champion in Mortal Kombat, Skullgirls, DBZF, Injustice and DOA as well as top player status in many other games including SFV and recent Soul Calibur VI. I personally wouldn't put him as best fighting game of all time yet but he's closing in quickly. He definitely is the best on the planet in terms of how many games he puts his effort into and does great. All this while being super young. He was barely into his teens when he was destroying top tier players in MK in their prime having played since the franchise's inception. Also the only person to win a first to 10 money match 13 - 0.

I'm glad he is getting more spotlight. He's always been a down to earth true to himself kid.

Bruh, he posts shit tons of furry porn along with the occasional guro (with trigger warnings and planned future postings) where people can find it on his twitter.

He didn't say anything that was factually incorrect.

He's black: The Republican party has been pretty fucking clear about its stance towards Black issues including their stance against Black Lives Matter protests, their support of white supremacists in Charlottesville and their support of Confederate statues to name a few. Not to mention the Republican base's utterly vile and racist "birther" conspiracies meant to delegitimize Barack Obama's presidency.

He's gay: The Republican party has been pretty fucking clear about its stance towards LGBTQ+ rights - the Vice President of the United States has advocated for shock therapy camps and "pray away the gay" camps. The party has also adamantly fought against gay marriage and transgender rights, with policies such as Trump's recent signing of a transgender ban in the US Military among other removal of rights.

To anyone who supports the Republican party or thinks "both sides" are equal, you are at best a piece of shit who blindly follows racist shit-stains...and at worst you are one.
