I honestly just assumed it was some temporary Internet meme joke thing akin to Bowsette. I didn't realise there were people out there who took things that far that they fetishised these things or actually dressed as or had sex in....furry fox costumes lol. Genuinely I just don't even fucking know what the fuck is anything any more lol.

You never seen a porno where people are dressed as famous super heroes or characters from popular movies or what not? Its not exactly unique to the furry community by any means. Try going to any big name scifi/anime convention.

What does it matter what other people like to wear or have sex in, seriously.

I've seen random cosplays or role plays on pornhub etc (movie, game characters, typical outfits and so on), including weird anime versions with video game characters etc, but I can honestly say I've never seen any real life fox outfit or furry porn lol.

Its one of the fetishes I will never be able to understand. It would be a complete turn off for me if my girlfriend would hide her face behind a huge comic fox mask with creepy fake eyes. I dont want to do sexual things with a stuffed animal... :/

Bare in mind I'm sort of still processing some of this, but that's a part of it I find so weird and creepy. Furry animals, teddies etc are synonymous with childhood memories, children's cartoons, cute, cuddly and innocent things etc, so yea, it's strange to me that such a thing would or could be so commonly fetishised or sexualised.

You guys do realize that not everyone who calls themselves a furry puts on a fursuit, right? Many people in the fandom never touch one and stick to drawing pictures, writing stories or what not. Everyone into bondage kinks isn't always into the sadomasochism aspect of it and vice versa.

Congrats to him but did he have to say those things when he received his prize? Does it matter? When an actor/actress win an Oscar, does he say that he is straight, gay, black, white, or anything? No. Because it doesn't matter if you are or not.
He is victimizing himself and being gratuitously aggressive at the same time.

He gave a shout out to the LGBT community which he is part of and thought it would be important to aknowledge publicly that he is gay because representation matters and he know that better than anybody else

I mean.. If you really like anthropomorphic creatures... fursuits are pretty much the closest you can get IRL. It's not some complex mystery that needs solved.

I'm curious how one even gets... into that.

Why would someone like humans dressed up like animals? Isnt the human without the suit more erotic? What does it add to the experience? Like I said, I will never understand this fetish but as long as you dont harm others because of it, I'm tolerant.

Its just in your head and you can't explain why you are attracted to the thing I guess. Like many fetishes.

It was but I feel like asking that question in this day and age about any kink/fandom has a pretty simple answer.

Fair enough, I just meant more-so at what point is someone like "I'm a wolf and when I see someone else in a wolf costume it turns me on" - it's fascinating to me and I'm completely ignorant to the subject so I'm curious.

Edit:

Thanks

I mean it's a kink. It doesn't mean they don't find humans attractive. Nor does it mean they require the suit stuff every time. It just is what it is. Many kinks are bizarre when deconstructed to such a degree.

Also, furries tend to put a lot of their self into the characters they come up with. Some even adopt a character as a persona. It can go so far as such becoming an intrinsic part of their self-identity, or idealized self. Why wouldn't they be interested in getting to be that? That attachment is why fursuiting is so appealing to many. It seems natural for it to extend to sexual things for some.

Bluntly, people need to stop trying to psychoanalyze something they are unfamiliar with. It's almost always waxing philosophical, gets old, and every thread involving furries ends up mired in it. It's especially annoying due to the the information being readily available, not only in this thread in almost every other page, but many places elsewhere.

Why are we generalizing republicans?
If someone is still a Republican after these 3 years of Trump shenanigans then they deserved to be called out. I'm saying this as an outsider looking at the affairs of the US. It's not like some countries where political parties have different to methods of achieving things but still have common goals. The Republican party and Trump do not have the interest of minorities and women at heart and are doing tons to stop progress and to make things worse. If someone is still a Republican and hasn't switch sides yet then they're being complicit.

lol at the people trying to find something wrong with what he said. Y'all would win at the TGAs if Reaching was a category.

How is he "victimizing" himself (what does that even mean btw) when he's giving a speech and thanking the people that got him there (as you would normally do when giving a speech) which involve his fellow LGBTQ+ people?

And some of the derailing here is a little off-putting; especially with the whole "are you generalizing republicans?!" discussions -- reminds me of the "I support Trump!!!! But I still love minorities, women and the LGBTQ+ still of course!" folk. Talk about problematic.

Yes, it matters if you are when "what you are" is "not a straight, white guy". I am very sorry that you are so sheltered to not understand why this matters.
If gamers stop being this performatively angry when people that aren't straight, white guys exist in the limelight, then there'll be no need for things like this. Until you and your fellow gamers stop freaking out over it - in other words, not anytime soon.

There is a history of award shows being used as platforms for the purposes of activist speech, you deeply ignorant person.

When you are oppressed or a minority, it can be nice to use an award as a platform for speech that empowers others like you

I'd love to see everyone saying "cringe" go up in front of thousands of people and hundreds of thousands more online and try to say more than a few sentences. Let's see how non-cringey you can be.

Great player, and seems like a super nice guy. Wish the best in his present and future fgc career. Fur suit stuff has got to go though. He can be into it, but why is it acceptable for his fetish to be on display like this? Tarantino isnt out here smelling toes when given awards.

Really is funny when people are so taken back by this, they are so *shaken* that someone who has been in a marginalised group so long has been given the spotlight because of his abilities and wants to share that enthusiasm with the world, is somehow an attack on others "poor fragile lives".

Im super happy he won! I meet him at EVO 2018, talked a bit only, but he is an amazing person and his skills are the real thing!

He can be a bit of a troller while playing with the tea bagging and he might speak his mind without censors at times, but besides that, he is super nice and friendly. So props to him, he definitely deserves the spotlight!

Actors aren't allowed to be openly gay in Hollywood. The few that come out publicly tend to stop getting mainstream roles.

It shouldn't matter, but it very much does. Oscar winners mention their (opposite-sex) husbands and wives all the time, but gay/bi actors don't get that same privilege because their publicist insists they stay in the closet.

Yes, there are some exceptions - a sign of slow improvement borne of being public about this thing that supposedly "doesn't matter". The problem is only fixed by more people being being more public about their sexual orientation, until we reach the point where it actually doesn't matter.

Anyway, back to SonicFox... I'm sure there are lots of gay gamers who watched this and feel boosted by the idea that someone outside of the norm can be popular and successful. That's worth more than some imagined idea that it "doesn't matter".

Being a furry is not a fetish. Wearing a fursuit is not a fetish.

Some people get off on fucking in tuxedos. Does that mean everyone wearing a tuxedo is putting their tuxedo fucking fetish on display? Of course not. That's ridiculous.

What the fuck did Sonic Fox do that could be in anyway comparable to somebody smelling toes? What did he do that was in any way fetishy?
