The vast, vast majority of the OP is dedicated to Japanese comments pissed about the censorship aspect of the issue. The first sentence frames the issue as one of censorship. You cannot expect people not to comment on it, especially when it's a very big problem for a lot of them. Get mad at the OP for not properly highlighting the other issue at hand, not the people commenting on the actual content of the opening post.

Additionally, one can be happy with the result (less pedobait games) and upset at the system used to achieve said results (making the review process extremely unfriendly to Japanese developers). This is how I feel and I'm sure others do too.
The title is pretty clear enough, same for the link.

Hard to say that others feel the same when it's a lot of drive by posting and strawmen from the crowd just saying the first part of what you say.

Hopefully they can pivot that Kill La Kill game over to Switch/PC pronto.

Funny how some people dislike using the word censoring when it's censoring something they believe should be censored. Censoring is value-neutral IMO.

I'm all for Japan addressing its perverted issues, but I can see why this method would annoy Japanese people. It would be like Japan forcing American companies to fix their gun violence problem by making them censor violent games with Japanese standards.

dude people would flip their shit if they couldn't blow someones brain out in their western cowboy fantasy game. pew pew pew imma shootin muh guns

The linked blog post is specifically talking about ports of porno games which are frankly a waste of resources

No loss

I don't know how widespread it is these days since CERO Z seems to be in much more common use than it was a decade ago, but back then, that's actually what happened a lot with western releases in the country. I think that they're still edited heavily for drug content, which is as much of a no-no as sex scenes are.

Those niche games won't disappear, they just will go to PC and Switch.

Sexualization ≠ Borderline porn (or at worst, child molestation).

Persona is exactly that and sexualization is basically the same thing which is what Persona does since 3.

Honestly, TC, you shouldn't have added those comments on the opening post as it added unnecessary fire. This topic is already looking like a repeat of the discussion where UN tried to ban sexual violence in Japanese media in the last site.

Soul Calibur VI just came out on PS4 with full boob physics intact and armor that can be destroyed to make people fight in their underwear. Clearly there's got to be more to this than just wholesale censorship.

op probably needs to be updated so the actual tweet in question is embedded. otherwise people's eyeballs are probably automatically just jumping to the "angry japanese ppl" quotes

Not everybody is going to click the link, nor should they be expected to. The title is relatively clear but the framing of the OP makes it sound as if the issue is simply Japanese games being held to western standards. People voicing their opinions on the content of the OP is on topic, so again they're not the ones to be upset with here.

Do we actually know in detail what these policies are about? Can't find anything about it and it's pretty important for the discussion to know if this is about underage stuff and sexual assault or just 'hot adult women in bikinis'. I don't see an issue with a hot adult woman but I'm all for a policy that deals with harassment and sexualized children.

Until we know what the policy actually is I don't see much point in discussing it.

The OP and original source are thin on details, and we are not able to verify the accuracy of any part of the story at this time. This thread will therefore remain locked.
