I don't really believe PCIe 5.0 will be ready for consumer products next year. They say they producing it next year, but 4.0 only came out this year desktops. Is there any reason 5.0 would be adopted way faster?
PCIE5 standard is finalized, and one of the controller chips is scheduled for mass production in 2020. It is unknown if it will be adopted by any PC platform, but if console holders want it, they could have worked to get it.

edit - some info directly from PCI-SIG

So the dream is dead.

On the PS5, yeah. Still, the PS5 memory controller can handle upto 22 GB/s so maybe still some hope for a Pro if prices come down?

Right now we don't know much more about Sony's RERAM strategy than we did when this thread was active. I guess high end cameras are one of the first places it might make an appearance.

It's too soon to say until the event of specs coming out next month, I think.

A bit fun fact: If you read a PS5 logo upside down, you would read a SSD.
