Well yeah. It's platform selling and hugely acclaimed for a dedicated group of people in Japan and elsewhere, and heavily associated with their platforms.

As long as I can get them spinoffs i'm good. I played a ton of Arena on 360 back in the day. I'm fine if the mainline stuff is back room exclusive to Sony, i'll always have those systems.

Bought a Vita for P4G, Bought a PS3 for P5, but then ended up selling the PS3 & eventually getting a PS4 for PS5.

So yeah, this all checks out

Too bad it's only important for them from a japanese point of view though, otherwise SIEA/SIEE would publish it and offer the EFIGS localization that Segatlus is not doing despite the incredible growth of P5 in the West.

Makes sense. I imagine Sony doesnt really care for mainline SMT. Persona is just way big at this point.

the main series isn't available on any other platform for persona fans like myself it is a reason to buy a Playstation.

People wouldn't have been so adamant that Persona 5 was coming to Switch if Joker wasn't in Smash.

The want would have still been there, but not as much expectation. We know now Smash doesn't work that way.

I'm guessing Atlus selected him for their spot and Nintendo are like oh ok, seems a weird one for Nintendo themselves to request.

P5 is the only JRPG I've played this generation. After 30 hours or so it got a bit repetitive, but till then it was really good. Hopefully they port more to the big screen.

I mean the multimedia part of Persona is also heavily tied to Sony, so of course... that won't stop the port begging though.

Sakurai is a huge Persona fan iirc and other Atlus ip are niche-r

Hm, ok.

My original intention with my above comment was also more about Playstation becoming more of a japanese brand again, as in publishing and developing more stuff like JRPGs again. But maybe that's unreasonable anyway if JS / the JP branch is in such a state.

Yeah it was a pretty bold move for SIE to buy ad space for it in Smash Ultimate but I'm glad it paid off.

Atlas very clearly doesn't need any help, if they actually wanted they could do it. And it's not Sony job to pay for things that Sega can easily pay. They just released a niche game with multiple languages.
