So it seems this is actually being marketed under the SIE brand afterall.

As a point of reference, It seems roughly similar in concept to Labo, or maybe more directly similar to other kids' robotics kits. Combines robotics and papercraft.

At this point I'm convinced Sony's R&D already has most of whatever Nintendo has going at a given time and it isn't until Nintendo does it that Sony puts sufficient funding and emphasis to make it marketable. It took more than a year to get this ready for retail.

True on the time to retail - but Sony announced and demonstrated it several months before Labo was announced, so it's not quite as obvious a case of 'Sony-too' as other things...

That's like $150, what are the expectations for this?

I'm not sure how big the market is for these kind of kids' robotic kits, but I'd guess their sales expectations are pretty modest. The price isn't cheap in this arena but it's not an outlier either (at least based on what I paid for a robot kit for my nephew at Christmas).

This seems like probably a small project someone took a shine to, something to allow some designers exercise their creativity a bit. Not something they expect to sell like gangbusters... by the marketing approach I doubt it'll get a release outside Japan either.

Pretty cool. I wish I had stuff in the classroom like this when I was growing up. Looks like a lot of fun.

Looks neat but I'm not sure how successful these sort of kits typically are. Will this even come to the rest of the world?

The price is pretty justified when you consider that it comes with the console, where with Labo you already need to own a Switch.
Well one is a game for a major gaming console and the other is almost entirely dedicated for this kit. Comparing their price point like that doesn't make much sense

Very cool way to teach programming skills it seems (I don't know Japanese, but that is what it looks like).

As a note, it was very recently shifted over to the SIE division, which is why those patents for the cartridge popped up late last year renewed under their name and confused everyone that didn't already know what it was.

The price is pretty justified when you consider that it comes with the console, where with Labo you already need to own a Switch.

Also, again. This is a full programmable robots kit that was independent from SIE until recently. That's like saying the price is justified when your RC model kit comes with a remote control and charge station.

The patents were SIE, after all. It seems like a neat boy. I've always admired Aibo, even if didn't interest me personally.

This look cool as hell. Hmm This could be really great educational kit for children.

So we can officially add this to the pile of shameless Sony ripoffs now?
Yeah we put this post in the pile of shameless Nintendo fanboy. In your mind Nintendo must have invented everything.....
