The television, which has a whopping 440-inches of screen estate, outputs an alarmingly crisp image – although you'd need to raid a dozen banks in order to be able to afford one. GT Planet speculates that while the footage is based on Gran Turismo Sport, it's more likely to be some kind of target render as all of the graphical details are significantly dialled up.

8k at 120 seems amazingly farfetched for the foreseeable future. Maybe PS6 or 7?

Still crazy having a 440 inch display too! Amazing.

Remember what Sony did with GT5 Prologue, where they used four PS3 consoles to run it either at native 4K 60fps, or at 1080p 240fps ?

I am more curious about what hardware they are using to make it run at 8k 120 fps. Looks insanely good.

Do we really need 8k

The fact that Blade Runner 2049 was all filmed at a lower than 4k resolution tells me no

That's not really how resolution works. No game looks better than any live action film on Blu-ray, so by that logic, nothing more than 1080p is needed.

Life is photographed, not rendered.

Wouldn't the technology used to output the game at a higher resolution than necessary be better used for the technology in the game, like lighting, textures, models, LOD, better and higher quality visual effects and engine tech, better AI?

Beyond 4k is just unnecessary. 4K with high quality anti-aliasing is all you need

8k120 is 4-5 generations away.
You can play a racing game (Forza 7) on the PC (since the 1080 Ti) in 8K/60.

Are you sure that the consoles will take 25 to 30 years to achieve 8K/120 in a racing game?

Of course is not going to happen soon but I don't think that it will be so late also.

I'm hoping Polyphony really push visuals like this in realtime for GT7. GT Sport looks really rough especially compared to FM7 and the Horizon games.

God, I remember the days when GT games were technical marvels.

I mean, the backgrounds in those are literally photos....
