So if i want to use it i should get this update and turn off auto-updates? I've already gotten the platinum so i don't really care if my saves get nuked.

Lmao had to throw in possible save corruption to get people to not mess with it.

that's wild in light of the recent hack. I will say that the update locked up my PS5 and I had to hold down the power button and repair drives. And even after that the update was stuck on "calculating" so I just deleted the entire game and downloaded it again. Everything seems to be ok now. Don't really care about debug mode

Haven't really kept up with Spider-man 2 since launch but did something happen since? The comments, retweets and general community seem really harsh and mean spirited?

Anyone know details on the DLC? I won't have time to check until tomorrow and by then it'll be patched out (probably).

What are you referring to?
Not talking about here on resetera of course but looking at insomniacs tweets (not just this one) there seems to be a lot of negativity, saying 'Insomniac's embarrasing' etc etc. Like I said I haven't really checked in with the game since launch period but back then it seemed like people were generally positive about the game.

I think overall it was a bit of a disappointment with a story that tries too much at the same time. Thought the first game and Miles Morales handled the narratives much better. The gameplay itself is as solid as the first one but also doesn't really add much new

Just used the debug menu to skip to the last fight cutscene and it unlocked the NG+ trophy when I reached the credits!

That's like very comment on every tweet for every game company. Specially worse on GAAS games in which the replies are filled with "dead game" lol

Someone in the other thread said there is a preview of DLC in the debug mode?
Do you have any more details? I'm mostly messing around with the Reload menu which lets you reload into any mission and checkpoint. There are several "branches" of missions so to speak, you have one with i30 missions (i30 = spidey 2), i30 test missions, "khong test missions" (no idea what this is) and UX test missions.

One of the checkpoints has a very interesting name, "CHK_ANNOUNCETRAILER_i34"
i34 is Spider-Man 3 per the leaks. So I guess they're working on that :P

It's your usual crowd of bigots smelling blood in the water and piling on. Mary Jane looks a bit different from how she looked in the first game (because the face capture actress got in a car accident and needed life-saving surgery on her skull, IIRC), black people exist in it, there's depictions of queer relationships, there's a mission where you play as a deaf character, etcetera. Plenty of reasons for the game to live rent free in awful people's heads.

The game is really, really good. Not without flaw and not above criticism, but the loudest people will try and make you believe it's trash.

To be fair, I've borked my game plenty when using debug modes during development - its a warning worth giving.

Fair enough, save data is such a small price to pay for the keys to the kingdom though.

Just used the debug menu to skip to the last fight cutscene and it unlocked the NG+ trophy when I reached the credits!

I almost want to buy the game now, I love debug shenanigans from the bottom of my heart.

Someone is definitely losing their job over this. This is insane. As if the leak they got a few months ago wasn't already bad.
I've seen this kind of situation happen, it's never one person's fault. There will have been some miscommunication or process failures in their pipeline.

A couple of people will get a stern talking to and new rules will be introduced to prevent this happening the same way again in the future.

Most of the info seems mildly interesting but… does anyone remember the OG FF7 debug room? Now that was exciting.

The debug menu in The Last of Us Part I was enabled by modders, I wonder if people will do this too once SM2 hits PC.

There is a different debug menu in the main menu when you press L3 + R3

Edit: Just L3 actually. R3 puts you in the debug menu overlay.

Yeah. The hyperbole is a bit silly. No one gets fired over a mistake like this, mostly because stuff doesn't happen in isolation in game development.

I am curious HOW it happened though. Most products I've been on have an automated process in their build pipeline to prevent debug tools from being end user accessible. And then one of the first sign off checks a QA team would do would be to ensure they're not present in any release candidate. There would have had to have been multiple points of failure for this to break.
