Umm no? This game will not have a problem selling a shit ton without people playing or word of mouth.

As someone who is not a spider man fan at all, this looks pretty damn stunning. A very well presented cinematic narrative, within a vast and beautiful sand box which you can traverse rapidly, coupled with what looks like a pretty responsive combat system. I had no interest in previous spider man games, partly because the presentation and world didn't interest / impress me from what I saw, and the setting / characters weren't an instant hook. Insomniac is what attracts me to this.

I downloaded 4K resource of E3 trailer and watched on my 4K TV.

There is no downgrade. Looks fantastic.

I'm not talking about the graphics. There were plenty of us that saw it from home and were disappointed with the way swining and combat looked. It wasn't until I read hands on impressions that stopped worrying.

I played R&C on PS2, I played Sunset Overdrive on XONE. I have to say I have rather low opinion on Insomniac. The footage of Spierman I've seen so far hasn't changed it.

Yes? From what I'm understanding about your "play it to get it" comment, you're saying people aren't sold on the game. But they are though....and it's going to sell a shit ton.

Nah, I am saying that my concerns with the game are based on the footage I've seen but that the hands-on impressions paint a more positive picture.

Entirely deserved. The game looks phenomenal. Sony must be ecstatic that it's another high performing exclusive.

Well deserved of the praise from the look of things, it's looking fantastic. The animations look awesome, web swinging and combat look great too. I can't wait to play it in September.

It's shaping up to be one of the best superhero games out there, along side the Arkham games.

you know e3 awards end up being meaningless right?
It's a pretty good indicator of success (Best console game)

2017: Super Mario Odyssey
2016: The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
2015: Uncharted 4: A Thief's End
2014: Evolve
2013: Titanfall
2012: The Last of Us
2011: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
2010: Rage
2009: Uncharted 2: Among Thieves
2008: LittleBigPlanet
2007: Mass Effect
2006: Gears of War
2005: The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
2004: Halo 2
2003: Halo 2
2002: The Legend of Zelda
2001: Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty
2000: Jet Grind Radio
1999: Perfect Dark
1998: Metal Gear Solid

To my eyes you've got basically 2 outliers and one was a game tailor-made for an E3 demo setting. Spider-Man is in really good company.

Edit: nib95 already did a better job of this upthread. Sorry.

And 3 of those are Naughty Dog games. Where would Sony be without them.
Surprisingly, that's as many as Nintendo has in the same time span. And also interestingly for 11 years straight Nintendo didn't win a single one and when they did again it was Zelda, the franchise they had last won it with.
Strictly speaking, Microsoft has 1: Halo. Stretch it a little, and they have 3: Halo won twice, and Gears is now an MS property, even though back then it wasn't.

You cant just list a bunch of games an go "hey look, theres a correlation".

I think what it is an indicator of is how well marketed these games are, instead of how good they ultimately end up being.

Yea but i dont brag about how many posts i have on this forum.

But you still post here, despite it being meaningless. Why is that? Why even bother engaging in such a meaningless activity? Why don't you stop posting?

And of course you don't brag about how many posts you have. I mean, no shit Sherlock. You can't sell your posts, they aren't going to be reviewed and it's not an entertainment product.

What a meaningless retort.

Yes you can. That's literally what a correlation is. 90% of those games ended up being critical and commercial successes which refutes your claim of these awards being 'meaningless'. I doubt companies that use E3 awards in their marketing (which has been going on a long time) find them meaningless either. So you're 0-2 there.
