Publicly she hasn't called for it. I don't know what she is thinking. However, there have been plenty of actions over the course of the last month such as holding Barr and Ross in contempt that help build the case for obstruction.I'm not defending this specific push for impeachment. I'm just saying that Pelosi hasn't shown much interest in even going through with impeachment proceedings and hearings, and like you said, people shouldn't expect the Senate to give a fuck no matter what comes out of the hearings.
We are still ~16 months from the election. Clinton's impeachment trial took ~1 month. Nixon was initiated and resigned in 9 days. It's safe to say that Trump won't resign and his trial will take a lot longer than a month. However, it is also safe to say his trial would not take 16 months. So who knows what endgame they have planned here, but it is clear that he would never be convicted by this senate. So you need to be strategic in regard to timing to ensure maximum political damage is done leading into the election.
The news cycle lasts hours with this chaos, not even days. If impeachment was a year ago leading into an election, that news is long forgotten.
