I'm not defending this specific push for impeachment. I'm just saying that Pelosi hasn't shown much interest in even going through with impeachment proceedings and hearings, and like you said, people shouldn't expect the Senate to give a fuck no matter what comes out of the hearings.
Publicly she hasn't called for it. I don't know what she is thinking. However, there have been plenty of actions over the course of the last month such as holding Barr and Ross in contempt that help build the case for obstruction.

We are still ~16 months from the election. Clinton's impeachment trial took ~1 month. Nixon was initiated and resigned in 9 days. It's safe to say that Trump won't resign and his trial will take a lot longer than a month. However, it is also safe to say his trial would not take 16 months. So who knows what endgame they have planned here, but it is clear that he would never be convicted by this senate. So you need to be strategic in regard to timing to ensure maximum political damage is done leading into the election.

The news cycle lasts hours with this chaos, not even days. If impeachment was a year ago leading into an election, that news is long forgotten.

The Dems would gain nothing from this. It'd just makes them look bad.
What's this based on? How do you figure that all the news attention of them fighting Trump wouldn't serve in their favor? The more exposure the better, I don't understand how you can disagree with this. C'mon, make your case, why do you think voting to impeach Trump and all the media attention it would get, would make them look bad to the general public?

You make it sound like the media won't both sides the hell out of it. It will be spun as an attack on Trump, and if it fails then the media will paint Dems as radical and incompetent, which is not what they need going into an election.

How is it useless? Because the majority of the party wasn't ready yet? If/when they are finally ready it will be the same bill.
This is why it's useless
How do you expect a Bill to pass without majority support?

And the House has specific procedures to follow, if impeachment happens it needs to be done right, especially with this Supreme Court

I expect the majority to vote for impeachment because it's what the majority of their constituents want. What is useless are our elected representatives dragging their feet when the results of rhe Mueller investigation have been public for months.

No, it wouldn't be the same bill. You realize this was a single article of impeachment solely for racist comments?

Article I.
The House of Representatives on July 16, 2019, strongly condemned President Donald Trump's racist comments that have legitimized and increased fear and hatred of new Americans and people of color by saying that our fellow Americans who are immigrants, and those who may look to the President like immigrants, should ``go back'' to other countries, by referring to immigrants and asylum seekers as ``invaders,'' and by saying that Members of Congress who are immigrants, or those of our colleagues who are wrongly assumed to be immigrants, do not belong in Congress or in the United States of America.

In all of this, the aforementioned Donald John Trump has, by his statements, brought the high office of the President of the United States in contempt, ridicule, disgrace, and disrepute, has sown seeds of discord among the people of the United States, has demonstrated that he is unfit to be President, and has betrayed his trust as President of the United States to the manifest injury of the people of the United States, and has committed a high misdemeanor in office.

Therefore, Donald John Trump by causing such harm to the society of the United States is unfit to be President and warrants impeachment, trial, and removal from office.

You're insane if you think this is the same impeachment resolution that would be brought up by the house judiciary committee in the alternate universe where democrats weren't terrified of carrying out their constitutional obligations

That's no different than what's currently happening. They will paint dems as radical and incompetent? Are you living under a rock? Your stance is just baffling.

Escalate the situation, legitimize it more for your own camp. All you're doing now is making your position weaker, and loosening the focus of the media attention. It doesn't matter if they'll both sides it, the focus will be more on "Trump should be impeached or not", instead of other bullshit, like Omar, internal fights of Democrats, etc. etc. The focus on Trump's impeachment has been completely lost, and is solely become an internal thing that the Democrats are squabbling about.

It's just pure amateur hour to not make use of the marketing opportunity here. It makes 0 sense to not take control of the narrative focus.
