Don't get me wrong - Cloud Strife being in the game was an absolutely flabberghasting development that I never saw coming (and I am pretty sure most did not). However, they only have 1 character in the roster, and there are only 2 songs from FF7 as support for that one character, which is ridiculous.
I'm not super familiar with what they've done with Dissidia, and I realize there are probably some complicated business truths therein. Still, it has surprised me how resistant they've been to Smash. Maybe it's a Sony thing, but if that were true - how did Cloud make it in in the first place?
In terms of characters, just think about the following as possibilities:
FF6 especially: Terra / Kefka / Sabin / Locke (steals items?)
FF7: Barret / Aerith / Tifa / Sephiroth would all be acceptable
FF4: Cecil / Kain / Golbez / Fusoya / 4 Fiends would all be acceptable
FF1: A character that morphed between classes
Chrono Trigger: Anyone
Dragon Quest: Anyone
