I hope this consolidation approach doesn't prevent future collaboration with Acquire. I'm loving Octopath Traveler right now.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider's underwhelming sales and mixed reception might mean a soft reboot in the future. Hardly anyone seems to care about the story of the reboot games and Shadow's gameplay was widely criticized for basically being the same as Rise's.
You mean BD5.I hope Naoki Yoshida is still head of BD2. He only got promoted last year, and the guy is seriously amazing.
I mean, creative staff yeah. But your every day programmers do move project to project. IIRC, Lot of FFVIIR team helped out on KH3 since it was priority.
Dem teases!
Considering they stamped 2019 at the end of the Babylon's Fall trailer, yes. I wonder how big the project is. We have literally seen or heard nothing about it outside of the announcement trailer.
I have a feeling DQ 12 will be an MMO. But wow 4 studios? I guess Square and Enix teams will still be doing their own things.
Not likely, but it will probably be multiplayer. 10 still has a a few more years in its campaign.
Good to see they're aware that Tomb Raider failed to provide something fresh. It was a great game, arguably the best in the trilogy, but still...
Tomb Raider is a franchise that would greatly benefit from scaling down, reviewing what works and what's best for it, and what new things it could bring to itself. Try to have a stronger identity rather than tick boxes. It also does not need to be this huge big-budget blockbuster.
Based off nothing but I think we see a new Deus Ex released within the next 18 months.
gamesindustry.biz said:Update:Upon reaching out to Square Enix for clarification on the planned consolidation, GamesIndustry.biz was told that the planned changes would be limited to Square Enix's Japan studio and would take place in April of 2019. Furthermore, the shift is not to involve a reduction of workforce, but is intended as a consolidation of business units to more effectively allocate resources.
