That's extremely pitiful from Square Enix, even worse that this is an HD release of a 14 year old game.
Yeah the fact that this is over a remaster is the most surprising thing. Really bizarre to do it over a game everyone already knows well. That's extremely pitiful from Square Enix, even worse that this is an HD release of a 14 year old game.
I have a strange feeling this gross practice is a lot more common than we think.
-powering these reviewers. Would love to read the review, even if I'll likely disagree with it.
Not the first time they've done this afaik. They blacklisted a Spanish gaming site for giving FFXV a 7.5/10
this is after FFXIII was released
This has been a well known practice for many years now. I've heard about it for well over a decade. I'm surprised a lot of people here didn't know it was a thing.
Yep. Reviews = Marketing.Too many developers and publishers have this toxic attitude and expectation that gaming media should act as an extension of their personal PR.
I mean this is hardly the first case of this type of review meddling by publishers, and it's not like gamergate ever actually tried to highlight the actual real known examples of such things (probably because both involved parties in those cases had been men anyways)I would like to personally thank these publishers for giving even the slightest bit of legitimacy to the gamergate style incel nerds that complain about paid reviews, fake news, and media conspiracies.
Pretty much. That's extremely pitiful from Square Enix, even worse that this is an HD release of a 14 year old game.
Yup. Anyone else remember Jeff Gerstmann being fired from Gamespot because of his Kane & Lynch review?
A review they went and edited and changed the score of after he was fired.
I mean it is the truth behind the game makers and game media . TO the game makers the game media are noting more the marketing tools and the game media needs the game makers to send them cotent and games.I have a strange feeling this gross practice is a lot more common than we think.
Compare the FFXIII reviews to the XIII-2 reviews. That one is WILD.
Virtually all of them say "this game improves on the previous game and corrects most issues" while giving it a lower score overall.
The obvious takeaway is that the pressure to review XIII-2 well just wasn't there as it was for XIII
Legit the first thing that came to mind.
