That's because the article says "year 21" ( 21年 ) which means 2021in this case but could also mean "the 21st year of the heisie era" (which is 2009). The latter is more common.

Technically, they never said there won't be any new KH news until next year. Last year with release of Melody of Memory Nomura just said the new announcement stuff will be quite for a while, and please be excited for the 20th anniversary, which is next year. So people are expecting the announcement at next year's anniversary.
