and the weird way they announced the Dead Rising 4 timed exclusivity.

Untrue. MS was very clear from the very beginning that DR4 was a timed-exclusive, and even stated in very clear detail. This was MS's statement at that E3.

"'Dead Rising 4' on Xbox One is developed by Capcom and will be published in partnership with Microsoft. Fans will be able to play 'Dead Rising 4' first on Xbox One and Windows 10 PC this December. It will remain a Windows 10 exclusive for the first 90 days and console exclusive on Xbox One for one year. We've had a close and longstanding relationship with Capcom including the launch of Dead Rising as an Xbox 360 exclusive and Dead Rising 3 as an Xbox One exclusive. We're thrilled to partner with Capcom once again to help bring their ambitious vision for Dead Rising 4 to life.

It's in no way going to be exclusive. Secondly, Sony even said they would get it first when they announced it.

Too much money on the table to lose for such a costly project.

It's a timed exclusive to PS4 and will hit all platforms that can handle the game afterwards.

Seems pretty clear cut to me going off past Sony stuff.

fucking liars, it will come out on PC and Xbox later down the line. Pretty sure it's a contractual thing between PlayStation and Square-Enix.

That would be one expensive check to weigh up the loss of revenue on other platforms.

Well worth it for the numbers it will do on the ps4 alone. No one said it was never coming to xbox, but obviously the mass of sales of this game will be on the ps4, so its well worth whatever Sony paid. 1 year exclusive is just the least to except, could be more.

Im sure its the same deal they did with Crash Bandicoot.

Because we knew from the moment Remake was announced that it was a timed exclusive. There was much more confusion surrounding RotTR because it was announced as a full-on exclusive with murky messaging immediately after the press conference, made more problematic by the fact that its predecessor was a multi-platform game that had only come out a year or so prior.

Previous FF titles weren't exclusives.

Lol, why would Sony market for other platforms? Some of you are so desperate for a RoTTR situation, that you make no sense. Sony said it's first on PlayStation, that's perfectly clear, they don't owe anything more then that.

Why would Microsoft market Rise of the Tomb Raider for PS4 ?
There are countless of situations such as this indeed.

Let me guess. You want to say 'media bias' ?

Certainly not.

Play it first on PS4, second on PS5.

They probably have a contract for temp exclusivity, thats a way to Tell Sony that they will honor the contract, and that the Microsoft stuff has nothing to do with them.

There is a difference between marketing for other platforms and being completely misleading over a timed exclusive, intentionally making it sound like it's a full exclusive. They aren't the same no matter how hard you try and make it seem.
Unless you are seriously trying to argue "first on PlayStation" is the same as "exclusive on Xbox, launching Holiday 2015" in which case lol again.

You mean like Nioh ? Or Crash Bandicoot ?

And no, it's not the same indeed. It doesnt mean it's clear nor honest. As multiple people said "First on PlayStation 4" can mean a lot of things. If it was that clear can you tell me for how long ? Is it only for the first game ? Every games ? Is it for each games after release ? Or after they all released ?

It is amazing how you can't tell the difference between the way ms worded their reveal and Sony did with ff7 or maybe purposely avoiding it. The end result of the game being timed exclusive is a different issue.

First on PS4 is just that....first on ps4 with a door left open and clearly indicates it is not an exclusive. "Exclusive on Xbox, launching holiday 2015" is not clear in any way

I can. Yes, Exclusive, Holiday 2015 is far more cryptic than "First on PlayStation 4". It doesnt mean "First on PlayStation 4" is precise either. It doesn't change the end result either.

As I asked someone before:
Is the first game a timed exclusive ? Is it all games ?
When does the exclusivity runs ? From the release of each games ? Or when they all released ?
What systems ? When ?
It's the same end result and a message, while not as cryptic, still fairly misleading.

A game they published in the West and a game they were getting shit over for being misleading about it's exclusivity? What about them?
Again not Sony's job to market other platforms. It's completely clear that it's a PS4 timed exclusive.

Due to the extremely complicated production of this remake, the game popularity and considering the episodical format, I wouldn't take this statement as a proof of exclusivity, more like a precaution about the release calendar.

I hope this Remake will remains exclusive forever like MGS4, if not at least on consoles (Epic Store xclusivity for the lulz)

FFVII is an iconical game for the playstation nation and must stay always under our wings.

And yeah I'm still traumatized for the infamous BETRAYALTON of FFXIII, so many laughs, so many humillations....never again.

This is an underrated post.

The game will most likely release all parts exclusively on PS4/PS5 until completion then will release the complete edition on other platforms. Either way the game won't be coming to other platforms anytime soon.

If we can agree there's a difference between "Exclusive on Xbox, Holiday 2015" and "First on PlayStation 4", can we agree there's a difference between "Exclusive to PS4 for a year" and "Coming to Xbox One in a year" ?
The latter is marketing other platforms indeed. The former isnt and is also more honest.

Saying how long your game is exclusive isnt marketing it on other platforms. It's just being honest about how long you have it as an exclusive

The outrage for rotr is because it was far more cryptic like you said. Plain and simple. People are used to the idea of timed exclusivity at this point that it doesn't raise as many questions or outrage. All ms had to do was say the game is launching first on Xbox when they revealed it and they wouldn't have raised so many alarms and outrage and questions from media. They would have still gotten some outrage from gamers more than Sony because they were the least popular platform at the time and there is no two ways about that fact.

Isn't port begging not allowed in this forum?

anyway, i think it is safe to assume the game won't come to Xbox One platform. what happens in the future, no one can guess. Xbox Scarlett is not even guaranteed to be a success. XOne was following X360 which was a huge platform so it was strong out of the gate, but Scarlett will have a very tough battle. i don't think it is guaranteed for Scarlett to sell 10m+ in its first year

so everything may happen in the future but what is the point if the game released after 3 or 4 years on Xbox, it will be old news by the time that happens.

Yep.

First on PlayStation 4 could just mean that, initially, there is an agreement in place to get the game on PlayStation 4 first and foremost.

That doesn't mean that Square Enix has plans to port to the game to other platforms right away. But it doesn't rule out that they could make plans later.

So Square Enix could honestly have no plans at the moment to port it, since focusing on the PS4 version is the most important thing right now.

No plans means at least a 6 month exclusive, perhaps a year. I think a year is more likely, gives a bigger audience for next Gen consoles. They might even try for triple dip, PS5 and Scarlet in March 2021 and PC Fall 2021 or Spring 2022.

Hmm, Sony sold off their shares in Square Enix in 2014, and this was announced in 2015. Any chance there was some deal making that occurred around that time that could've involved this game?

I'm sure Square Enix indeed has no current plans to release their biggest project on other platforms despite the high cost of said project.

It's a timed exclusive obviously.
If it wasn't they would be up front about it being exclusive while using "exclusive" word where ever possible.

This is more like a wait and see , so far we only knows it's going to be on Playstation so if people really want to play it just get a PS4 it's that simple. If you want to wait it out then wait no one is forcing you to get it.

As a timed exclusive, they aren't allowed to talk about what platforms it will be on at a later time, thus they'll say that have no current plans for other platforms. And the video saying it was coming to Xbox One on launch day was definitely wrong.

Okay for the platforms. But maybe the extent of said deal ? 6 months ? A year ? Only Sony platforms ? First game only ? Each game ? If timed, when does the period start running ? One period for each game releasing ? (Part 1 a year after release, part 2 a year after release) or once everything is released ? (A year after every games have been released).
