I've concluded lorca is a full on villain and Michael will eventually need to take him down imo. He literally sent the admiral to die, torture etc...

The OT might be slightly borked due to being so image heavy. If it still is that way tomorrow I'll see how/if I can fix that.
It's fine you guys, I was just busy with stuff (and it's 2 am here dammit). So I was taking my sweet time.
Aw man I just finished making a new OT instead of copying it from GAF only to find out I was 7 minutes late. I made a post on GAF saying I'd be making it when I come in. But since you are the original creator on GAF that's all fine and dandy :))

It doesn't strike me as quite that advanced. Just Klingons rumbling down a hallway getting ganked like Captain Lorca's Duck Hunt 64. I can see the criticism but I dig it. I'm also, admittedly, not really a canonista much anyway.
Guess we could moan but I've come to feel that the show shouldn't be held back by lore. It's star trek and I'm happy just to get new stuff.
His characterization so far has been a missed opportunity, he was Captain Satan from the very start.
I didn't remember this but apparently it appeared in TAS and I like TAS being cannon because I thought it had good ideas,
the episode in general was really good though and this week it seems like they are finally doing a stand alone episode

That was probably the first time I said "Come on!" since the start of the series, but it fits within the internal logic of the show -- if you regularly communicate via holograms that move around, I guess it makes sense that you'd have a holoroom too. For me, I've already decided in my head that this is a self-contained story that's doing its own thing, like one of the books, so I just take it as it is and go with it.
I grumbled but I didn't riot. I find it a little annoying but not unexplainable. Is it really so bad to stick to viewscreens and train with other crew members? I know it's less shiny that way, but, well..they're the ones that chose to make this a prequel instead of a sequel. Even though they dont seem to actually want to make a prequel. And almost the exact same story line would have worked so well as a sequel.
I reason it away by saying that this was low res, non solid, with poor AI that could not hold a natural sounding conversation. Look at it up close and you'd see the "pixels." By the time they reach TNG it has advanced to be indistinguishable.
Sure, TAS had that recreation room which makes it not completely outlandish, but TAS has always been in questionable territory.
That, too. One of the reasons I'm really rooting for the section 31 theory is because it makes a lot of the shit going down a lot more believable.
The next episode actually broke me (time loops r hard) but it's legit so fun and great.

Weirdly, I had more of an issue with the replicators than the holodeck. IT COMMENTS ON THE NUTRITIONAL AND CULINARY VALUE OF YOUR FOOD. How has someone not punched a replicator yet?
The hallmark Trek style camaraderie and personality quirks are really starting to show. I'm loving LSD Stamets and I'm curious to see which direction they go with kinder and gentler Burnham.
OT: Is anyone going to bother doing a General Trek thread this go around? It was pretty slow anyway I suppose.
I didn't have a problem with the "holodeck". It doesn't seem to operate the way one does. It looks like a virtual reality simulation without the headsets. An actual holodeck is immersive. You can smell things, eat things, interact with things, and the AI is very advance. This looked like a VR shooting range to me. It's the difference between the holograms they used for communication, which is just projection you can walk through and the Doctor on Voyager who could physically interact with the entire sickbay and everyone in it and then the ship itself and even outside of it.

Last week's was the best episode so far, this week's was also pretty good. Its getting better as it goes. Looking forward to where this goes.

What I'm saying is I fully expect there to eventually be a fan-fiction about Spock's forbidden Vulcan lust for his adopted sister.
