It's weird because several episodes it's been other crew members solving everything and Micheal just kinda experiencing everything, so I don't know where it's coming from.
Makes you wonder right. Hmm. Anyway it's a weird setup. Some people don't want it to be Michael. Yet they don't want or expect it to be someone new because it wouldn't have any strong connection. It's a damned if you do and damned if you don't setup if your set on it being Michael. Some people aren't going to be happy with the choice no matter what and that was always going to be the case.

Just enjoy the ride and let them explain and justify their choice I say.

Edit: Episode is 48 minutes long.

"We sing songs for those who are taken too soon. This is a song for Airiam..."

That plan was insane and the effects and make up team delivered. That looked insanely painful!

I wasn't sure who it was going to really be until about half way through but even then the show made me doubt myself until the very end.

Emotional episode. Not sure where I'd rank it but really enjoyed it. Need more Doug Jones singing in the future. That was really nice.

I mean, it's the only plan that would make sense. You have to force it to show itself, and you have to do so in a way where it wouldn't matter that the Red Angel is one of the people coming up with the plan to catch the Red Angel.

When a twist sounds so bad and predictable its actually a surprise when they do it anyway

Midgar, With Love
I wanna draw special attention to the directing tonight. Hanelle Culpepper did a terrific job with this episode.

This is important because she's directing the Picard show's two-part premiere.

Wow, I was totally prepared to be disappointed by the reveal in this episode but at the end of the day, I'm now interested in what's next. Good job writers!

So the plot of Season 2 is time travel
Mass Effect.
;)

Good episode though. Not the strongest this season but the swerve was fun (though somewhat obvious) and I'm intrigued to see how they resolve things.

The beginning was pretty slow but so many good lines.
Spock's original assessment after learning that was great, as was Michael's reaction to Spock taking those shots at her to the group lol

Of course you do Georgiou, of course you do...lol
"I'm cringing already" LMAO Caldwell
"There are gaps in your story that I find disconcerting" Yup, lmao
"What just happened??" lol
Loved Saru giving Leyland that verbal bitchslap.

Pretty similar here too and what a twist!
And so true, WTF with that!

LOL I wasn't expecting Spock to say he wished he was there when she punched Leyland as he would have found it satisfying.

Also, gotta say my mind just went full on WTF lol, this is wild (even though anyone not knowing the cast list wouldn't realize it anyway), when Airiam's original actress, that we were just talking about following the big events of last week, joined the bridged crew to fill that position. :)

Good stuff!
Oh so that was her! Ok I figured but forgot to check, kind of a funny call back I guess.

Count me among those surprised to see Airiam's actress taking her old spot with a new character.

HOLY SHIT!! Wow that was amazing, didn't see that coming at all (I don't think anyone did)

I love this show!

Leland lays out the twist pretty clearly in his conversation with Michael has their conversation.

I can't see how anyone finds this plot more enjoyable than last season's with Lorca. And what a convoluted trap.

Wait so
they're like, it's an exact genetic match not even the slightest variance if it were anyone else I would know
and then it's someone else
huh?

Also the entire cat&mouse of this season hinged on the assumption that
this technology could in no way exist in the present time and must be from the far future, and then s31 is just like...lol btw we invented that shit a long ass time ago.
huh?

Anyway Spock's on point as usual.

I know that I mean all the theories before this episode aired I don't think I ever saw it hinted once that it was her
mother

I'm sure they'll explain the reason it wasn't
Micheal

And the red angel could be supplemented with future tech, she and the AI still come from 500 years in the future, the reason they knew that's where it came from was because of the probe that got sent back, not because of the suit.

Burnham's parents being cited as genius scientists and staunch believers in "technological advances brought about by time traveler assistance" makes me believe that they didn't actually build that suit for Section 31, it came from the future to begin with and they pretended to make it for some yet to be explained reason.
