For those interested, here is a pretty nice breakdown of the Star Trek content currently in development over at CBS:

https://www.digitalspy.com/tv/ustv/a26164957/star-trek-universe-franchise-tv/

Unlike the troll videos on YouTube who are claiming that Discovery is a massive failure and that CBS may be about to can "All Trek" claiming they have inside sources, this article paints a different picture of the Star Trek situation in that CBS is fairly happy with Star Trek: Discovery and hopes that an expanded Trek universe will also expand the ratings for the current show.

It's digitalspy, not really any better than a YouTuber. Have you read their articles? Nothing but clickbait with nothing to back it up.

I appreciate the sentiment, but it's not feasible to comb every second of every prior video for signs of bigotry.
You make it seem like it is not obvious he is a sexist loser. It is. It was extremely easy to tell. When you posted that anti-Discovery video the first thing I did was check his most recent video tab. Immediately was flooded with anti-women anti-feminist nonsense. It took all of 10 seconds. Most anti-discovery videos come from the alt-right, its an easy check to make.

You don't have to comb anything. Looking at the thumbnails to his most recent videos makes this readily apparent he is an alt-right women hater.

Whenever I check out a new YouTube channel, I always skim - like, thumbnails and titles - at least the first set of videos on their channel page, just to see what I'm dealing with. The simple reality of the situation on that hellsite, at least in my experience, is that a massive proportion of the popular channels - particularly those dealing with sf and/or fantasy - are run by shitheads.

Still bummed that my (formerly) favourite Trek parody song was made by a raging misogynist.

Yep, and its usually pretty easy to tell by a quick glance. These people are not subtle about their awful views.

I would say to be especially vigilante about anti-Discovery videos, as the anti-Star Trek Discovery videos on YouTube almost entirely come from the alt-right. To this day I haven't even encountered one single one being shared that wasn't from an alt-right channel.

Yup, same. If there really is any measured, reasoned criticism - that doesn't start from the premise, 'the SJWs are RUINING STAR TREK!!!' or some other similar nonsense - out there on YouTube, it's buried beneath isotons of targ turd.

I mean I think we can all agree all signs are Discovery has been a success though for CBS, yes? You don't follow it up with a spin-off and multiple other shows if it wasn't doing great.

If you look at Agents of SHIELD, ABC has developed a BUNCH of spin-offs (and other MCU-centric projects), but the show has never been a financial success for them. It's just a valuable IP that they want to maximize and keep parked on their network. If one of the spin-offs had really taken off, Agents of SHIELD would have probably been long dead. With that said, its budget was consistently slashed year on year. This is where I think it's most obvious that Discovery is a hit for CBS. They wouldn't just pour an increasing amount of money down the toilet simply to keep the IP active.

While I can see the argument that greenlighting additional Star Trek projects says nothing definitive about Discovery's success or failure, I can't see the show looking this good if it was a bomb. Just food for thought.

The show should be safe as it is pretty much the face of their streaming service. To keep that alive they need STD alive, and they clearly want in on the streaming business. All the talk about about how successful or not STD is doesn't really matter, they'll run it at a loss if it means it keeps the service going until something else. When there are a bunch of new shows to carry the service is the only time its popularity will matter.

The digital spy link is just a collection of confirmed sources. You want them all linked separately?

Enjoy.

Starfleet Academy:
A series set at Starfleet Academy from creators Stephanie Savage and Josh Schwartz. The duo currently serve as co-showrunners on the Hulu-Marvel series "Runaways" and are best known for creating shows like "Gossip Girl" and the CW's reboot of Dynasty.
Khan:
A limited series based around the "Wrath of Khan" story. Khan's full name is Khan Noonien Singh. He was famously portrayed by Ricardo Montalbán in both the original series episode "Space Seed" and again in the film "Star Trek II: Wrath of Khan." Benedict Cumberbatch then played the character in the 2013 film "Star Trek Into Darkness."

Everything in the first category is mostly happening, with Discovery's thrid season pick-up still waiting. That's five shows in total. Tried to seperate the links out so they aren't coming from one valid source.

Had another dream I was aboard the Discovery last night, so it's a good thing tonight's the night, fam

There was a period of time in the early nineties that the Next Generation was on everyday at 5pm in the UK. With that much exposure on a young mind it induced a good few dreams back in the day. 😀

Yeah, the show continues to look jawdropping.

Time to watch early since there's no new Gotham this week.

There she is.

Also, I love that meeting room! Now that we've got Pike and his style of command they need to keep using this room going forward.

Not sure. Going by tonight and the preview for next week I'm thinking 6 or 7 at this point. I figured it might be around the half way point.

Tonight's episode once again continues the trend with each episode being different in its setup. I really enjoyed this but I need to watch it again. Highly emotional. The episode
really had me and I thought they were actually killing off Saru.
This and last episode are clearly setting the stage for other things coming down the line and are pretty important. Episode 1 still is the most action packed of the season but I think this is much higher on the tension side of things and emotional like last weeks.

Really watch the Saru Short Trek if you haven't before watching this episode.

Hmm, I seem to be stuck at 35:35, gonna give it a few mins.
Edit: Now it's working again

This has been an amazing ep so far.

LMAO the universal translator thing was amazing.
And that was a great first scene with the engineer returning, she really is fun.

The scene with Saru and Michael with all the feels was fantastic.

I'm glad we got to see more of Linus as well!

I'm also glad this episode resolved Michael in regard to Spock. I was hoping this would happen and I'm glad it happen as quickly as it had. Only took the near death of Saru but at least it happen.

Another good episode.

I'll get this out of the way from the get-go, because judging by the impressions I saw elsewhere on the net during her debut episode everyone else seems to love her — I still dislike Reno. I don't care for the actress much and I just find her dialogue a couple of steps too... forced.

Other than that? The only thing I'm not so fond of is the fact that we've just been subjected to, like, the sixth instance of "noble bridge crew characters stand up one by one nobly" since "The Past is Prologue" and it's never not going to look goofy to me. >_>

Loved everything else this week! A classic Trek A-plot with the sphere, a classic Trek B-plot with Saru, and some creepy foreshadowing in the Tilly C-plot. Speaking of which, what the heck! She totally seemed to have been saved and then they dropped that on us at the last minute, complete with an episode preview for next week that centers on her upcoming torment. The Quinton household unanimously adores Tilly, so when I show my roommates this latest episode tomorrow night they're gonna be bracing for what happens next.

I'd originally predicted that Burnham would realize Saru needs to be brought back to his homeworld to be cured based on this episode's preview, which would have been fun, but I'm glad I was mistaken because Saru realizing that General Order One has a huge wrinkle in it now will make for more compelling ongoing drama. I'm interested in seeing where this is headed.

Also, I expected Pike to find out the sphere had data on the red signals. But this works, too. Given Discovery's tendency to carry forward even seemingly episodic plot points into unexpected continuations, I'm still betting this will happen.

Tilly -
I wasn't really sure if they were actually going to drill into her head. I actually was hoping they'd go that far but was curious if they'd really do it and they did.

That said she's going through so much shit right now. I'm glad it's Michael and Stamets going to get her back. I love when those two work together and it's part of why I enjoy the Magic to Make episode as much as I did. That paring doesn't happen enough in the show. I wonder if next week is how we get Culber back.

ok that was amazing, from the Orb thing to the universal translator issue (which was hilarious) and the whole thing with Tilly I loved this episode. And I hope some noticed that Burnham didn't have the answers to much of anything, it was actually Saru, Stamets and Reno that figured almost everything out. The scene between her and Saru was really good too and I'm glad they didn't find some magic cure, maybe now Saru can go save his sister/planet.

Ongoing pointless-but-fun Discovery season 2 rankings:

2x01: 8.7
2x02: 8.1
2x03: 8.5
2x04: 8.5

Remarkably solid season of Trek thus far.

Still digesting the episode but I'll say u really like the new science lab set from the past two episodes except for how the windows just have bright white light coming through.

Those scenes got super creepy. The preview with them going after her was very hype.
Yeah, finally more Michael and Stamets scenes is gonna be cool.

Agreed it was good to have Michael all-in on reaching Spock now.

Another really good episode.

I am loving these stand-alone-ish episodes.

They almost got me with the Saru death, with how long that scene with him and Michel went on.

*micdrop*

Anyway, tonight's episode was amazing. Might well be my favorite yet. Doug Jones really knocked it out of the park here.

This has nothing to do with anything, but I think the number one item on my Discovery wishlist is for Sybok to show up. Not just to troll all the haters, but to take one of the more derided elements of Star Trek and reframe it in an interesting way. Star Trek V has always been my favorite bad movie after all ;).
