Considering he had a panic attack about getting back into acting, from the small amount of footage we've seen Frakes seems to have slipped back into his old Trek role the most smoothly. I just immediately felt like I was watching Will Ruler again.
lol, yes!! The hero we need! I think I see a cardassian behind him.
The fact that Discovery is less "Star Trek" than ever before and more "Generic dystopian sci-fi show #6497"
Fucks sake.
So much for "We'll do better" and "We will respect canon this time".
Discovery continues to more than rightfully earn it's place as the worst Trek series and the writers continue to prove they don't understand the first thing about what makes Star Trek special.
They better undo this by the end of the season and show this was basically an incorrect future caused by someone messing with the timeline and they restore the actual correct timeline, ala Enterprise when Archer is removed from the timeline and it temporarily screws the 31st Century until they correct the mistake.
It takes them barely a century past the future Federation Daniel's came from, which was in more than good condition.I'm pretty sure 930 years puts them beyond anything Enterprise talked about. But even if it didn't, I'd take ignoring the Temporal Cold War stuff over respecting canon every time.
It takes them barely a century past the future Federation Daniel's came from, which was in more than good condition.

Honestly, I could live with that.Pissed about canon 130 years after any canon has been written.
Honestly, I could live with that.
The biggest issue is taking Star Trek and turning it into yet another fucking dystopian sci-fi drama where the future is bleak and hopeless. Even worse it's literally just an Andromed rip off.
Star Trek is supposed to be hopeful, about showing that the future can be better, that people can come together and get past their differences, work towards a better future for everyone. Not about how fucking awful the future will be.
I mean this is what was said about Discovery Season 3 barely 2 weeks ago,
"I can tell you this much about season three of Discovery: It is in fact much more optimistic," Frakes said. "They've gotten themselves out of the Mirror Universe... After Gene died, some of the writers decided that Deep Space Nine should maybe take a different tone, which, I think, it did to certain degrees of success. The optimism that Gene infused in all of his shows and in all of us may not be as obvious as it once was, but it's certainly the driving force of his vision and the franchise and [Alex] Kurtzman and all the people who run our shows are very conscious that that canon is important to all of you and all of us. JJ [Abram]'s movies, I thought, were very uplifting and wonderfully told stories. There needs to be conflict to make drama. So I'm here to share that Discovery certainly is taking a more optimistic, traditional Star Trek approach in next season."
That trailer was the exact opposite of that.
It takes them barely a century past the future Federation Daniel's came from, which was in more than good condition.
OMG Cardassian!
lol you find everything that's not TOS/TNG awful so whatever
‧ the old tos romulan bop is out of place they should have used the enterprise version
Well at this stage the Romulans have no homeworld, no empire. no real infrastructure.
oh it's not the usage i'm iffy about cause like you said it makes total sense for the resource strapped rom to use older design my ''problem'' is that enterprise had an updated and in my opinion better model for it not that it matters of course since the basic shape is pretty much the same i'm just nitpicking lolThis is probably a relic that's survived and is in use by some faction
Oh, is that not Picard's ship? I assumed it was an old relic he'd bought off a black market for cheap or something.
I wonder if we'll see a non-holographic Galaxy-class at some point
Yeah they haven't shown us any 24th century Starfleet ships yet. Honestly 20 years post Nemesis it wouldn't be too weird for the fleet to look almost the same, but I suspect they'll update some designs in ways that'll piss some people off.
I put even odds on one of the Trill they meet being Dax. I don't think we ever got a definitive max lifespan of the symbiote, but not like you can't fudge it anyway.
Enterprise showed that the Federation was still around 130 years before Discovery so English should still be around. My only thing with Discovery is why would anyone be able to understand each other after a thousand years of linguistic evolution, particularly if future society has collapsed and presumably universal translation of thousand year old languages is not something you'd design into a computer. But you know. lol
The Picard thing is whatever. It's nostalgia and action scenes, which I guess why not. Maybe they'll make a Nemesis reference and let him drive a dune buggy again.
The linguistic program worked with all kinds of predictive algorithms designed mostly by Hoshi. And it was built into all computers. No reason why it couldn't reconstruct its own root language. My only thing with Discovery is why would anyone be able to understand each other after a thousand years of linguistic evolution, particularly if future society has collapsed and presumably universal translation of thousand year old languages is not something you'd design into a computer. Nope. They didn't have a clue where they were going with the time bullshit. Now, when Enterprise was originally created, I imagine the writers meant to imply that Daniels was from whatever replaced the Federation as an even bigger and better alliance of civilizations.
I mean, I know the real answer is that it's a TV show and it has to be understandable to Americans. lolEnterprise showed that the Federation was still around 130 years before Discovery so English should still be around.
I mean... I've never actually tried it, but I assume if you typed Old or Middle English into Google, it would either bring up Beowulf/Chaucer or have absolutely no fucking idea what you were talking about. Then there is the fact that there are just new worlds being invented all the time, so even if there was a way to translate from modern English to Old English, how would you translate words like "Computer" or "Emoji" or "Quark" or other concepts that simply didn't exist a thousand years ago?The linguistic program worked with all kinds of predictive algorithms designed mostly by Hoshi. And it was built into all computers. No reason why it couldn't reconstruct its own root language.
There's also other fun things to think about, like whether or not Discovery brings a virus to the future that causes a plague. The same way that if someone from the past suddenly showed up in our time, they could bring diseases with them that we're simply not prepared for and have no idea how to cure/treat. It's actually an interesting problem and they could do things with a thousand year time jump that is more than what they showed in the trailer clip anyway.
There's been SOOOO much internal bullshit with Axanar that I'm actually surprised, assuming they're not just saying they're making something. In other good Trek news, Axanar started filming 2 days ago.
Aside the lawsuit, the reason for the long delay was mainly actor scheduling.
Hrm... like a time travel episode or something? On the one hand I can see that being an episode, on the other hand none comes to mind. lolI want to say is an episode that sort of does this, someone from the past has an illness and a doctor cannot treat it as it was irradicated long ago and the treatment isn't immediately available.
I want to say maybe a TNG episode, but my memory of it is really faint.

There have been several lawsuits between the people running the show at the very least, even if you ignore the stories about what has happened to the money.I'm not aware of any internal bullshit, but the haters are worse than the STD cancelled theorists in the bullshit they make up (it hilarious the parallel of fans of one fan made Trek series making up BS about another Trek fan film the way they do with the official shows).
good news? lol i'm sorry but the whole project was a scam to create a for profit studio on the back of an ip/fandom, alec peters is shady as fuck also the dude is currently in breach of settlement so fuck him
You've been reading the BS haters spew. Ares studio has its own fundraiding seperate from Axanar and it is made clear it is for use for other things also. The studio funded by the Axanar kickstarter is not that studio, that was abandoned at quite a loss due to the lawsuit halting productions.good news? lol i'm sorry but the whole project was a scam to create a for profit studio on the back of a ip/fandom, alec peters is shady as fuck also the dude is currently in breach of settlement so fuck him
hate site? I've checked and there's nothing racist or xenophobic about it???
It's set up for purely anti-axanar news and this is the sort of shit you get on their Facebook page, Jonathan Lane works on Axanar. Carlos Pedraza runs Axamonitor.hate site? I've checked and there's nothing racist or xenophobic about it???
