Unpopular opinion but I enjoyed the campaign. It was generic and the hero levels sucked but in third person it was still fun enough.

Nice. I was just listening some old Giantbomb clips (nothing like Jeff ranting about a "bad" game/system) and was thinking about picking it up. Slightly curious as to what the progression and microtransaction system are like now and whether the heroes still cost credits to unlock or are they all free.

Very nice. Looking forward to playing the campaign, I enjoyed the trial parts.

It's a fun campaign! There's a few issues with pacing, specifically with the hero missions and the character arcs, but I enjoyed it quite a bit! Janina Gavankar is a really convincing Imperial Special Operative and I'd love to see more of her character.

Yeah, it was fine. Had a few great cutscene moments. The plot needed further fleshing-out, but I went into it assuming that would be the case.

The only part that truly let me down was
the boss fight at the end of the Luke level. It was one of the most generic-feeling combat/presentation experiences I've ever played.

What they've done is now all the micro transactions are for a currency called crystals that can only be used to unlock cosmetics. Said cosmetics can be unlocked through normal play by earning credits. Lootboxes are entirely gone minus a daily crate that gives you 500 credits and box bundles (i.e. buy 3 skins for the price of 2)

Heroes added through seasons have to be unlocked with credits and they can't be unlocked with crystals.

Classes earn experience and level up and you earn points from leveling to unlock and upgrade star cards which are basically ability modifiers like increased health regeneration rate or switching the Heavy's shield for a turret that does more damage to vehicles.

They lied so hard about how the campaign would play out.

Thanks. Maybe I'm mistaken, but I thought Disney wouldn't allow for cosmetics which is why EA opted for mtx for skill upgrades. Also, are the cosmetics like Overwatch where it's an entirely different colored or new skin or is it just a different skin on a blaster?

It depends.

Not every class has skins and the amount of stuff they change is usually accuratley represented by their "rarity" (there's no random unlocks).

Some skins merely change human facial features and skin tones, and are priced at 5,000 creds. Some change alien species or are Clone legions and are priced at 20,000. Some are more substantial like the upcoming General Kenobi skin that'll give Obi-Wan his Season 1-3 TCW appearance which are 40,000 credits, and the most expensive are at 80,000 credits which have substantial changes like Boush Leia, Young Han, or Shattered Grevious.

Death Star
Dropped in and did one round of each side for Battle of Geonosis last night.. it was actually kind of fun even if purple card guys kept wiping me out.

Amazing how close we are to the graphics from the actual movie from 2002.

I feel like this should be added to the OP for all the people that haven't been up to date with this game's turn around over the past year. Minus the bit about campaign haha (not that you're wrong).

That was fast. It seems fast.

I'm pretty sure some games have entered the vault after only a few months before. This was probably planned all along (to get a second Black Friday rush of discount sales and then add it)

Yes, it was fine, and it would've been above average last-gen when dozens of games like it came out each year.

I wonder if this means it's coming to Origin Access Basic. It's been part of Premier since it's launch.

Yeah I noticed it the other day in my access vault, added it to my library.

Will probably check the terrible single-player campaign and then uninstall :p
