That upgrade is very tempting. Also, even more content coming in February and March! The new season of Clone Wars drops in February, so I wonder...
Most of those heroes probably wouldn't play all that differently from existing ones. I think DICE is trying to release as many unique heroes as possible instead of having a lot of largely similar ones.
I never played it in the old games, but I like it quite a bit here. Weirdly hard though, as if it's just the balance from co-op. It does need more maps. It only has the prequel trilogy at the moment.

These characters before Mace Windu, Jango Fett, Ahsoka Tano, Asajj Ventress, Jyn Erso, Director Krennic, Poe Dameron (I don't count his X-Wing) and Snoke? Really Dice?
Edit: I would put Ezra and Kanan vs Inquisitors before them as well.

How is instant action? I loved the mode in the old bf games. Is it fleshed out with multiple maps?

I just want to say for those who are joining or are new to BF2, give co-op mode a shot first. In a few matches you'll be able to considerably level up you favorite class and hero at a faster rate, which means you'll have a fitting chance in competitive modes with better star cards and weapons. And you'll have fun and time to master using some of the heroes.
