If you referred to singleplayer content, yes it's an extreme upgrade to the first game: campaign, arcade mode with coop and splitscreen. I've seen distorted perceptions, but how this is not evident i would like to see elaborated.
"Extreme upgrade" over .. NO CAMPAIGN? OK I'll give you that.

For a STAR WARS CAMPAIGN, like what would one expect from an exclusive, AAA game based deep in the star wars licence and universe -and which in fact seems to be after the Visceral axing the only star wars campaign we'll get in the foreseeable future- I have to say that I find your "EXTREME UPGRADE" positioning as not serious.

That map where you have to steal the Walker is so good. Lovely night time setting and an epic advancement through the map. Love it.

Unless you consider the jet pack characters OP...nothing I've noticed. Seems like you have better control of the outcome during firefights because it's less of a clusterfuck. I just prefer TDM to objectives. That and the fact I hate vehicular combat. Just up the player count more a little more and include heroes, I'd never play another game type again.
Jetpacks are fine for me on PC since the aiming isn't as hard so I don't think they are OP.
Good to hear you haven't noticed anything crazy yet

I love to flank on the left as the rebels and jump down and turn right around into the bunker and come up behind the defending Imps.
Btw that map can happen during the day too :O

I like this stage of an MP game when a lot of folks haven't figured out the meta to each map yet.

I noticed people actually sticking in their assigned groups because they don't know where they're going.

yesterday was the funniest situation.
We started as Imps on the Death Star 2 map and my friend says "here, i'll show you a great spot to go to and hide around a corner where you can usually flank 4-5 people at the start of the round". So we both run off and sit in the corner. Together with about half our team. Cause they all followed us since we spawned in front. So we had 10 stormtroopers sitting in a corner for a few seconds before we ran off again lol.

Just finished the campaign!
I feel like it started really strong but ended up unfulfilling.

Once you get on the rebel side, Naboo is great and a nice throwback to that comic, and Takodana is alright but man does Iden and her story get boring. The final mission and cutscene on Jakku had me completely unfazed - I saw the love story with Del coming but it just doesn't work. Really strange of them to hint that hard at the possibility they'd be Rey's parents as I think we can all agree there's no way they are.

Ultimately, I think I would have liked it better it she stays imperial all the way through the First Order era. That's kind of how they marketed the plot too lol

I have a little more than 20 000 credits and I'm not sure of what to do with them... Do you think it's better to spend it on heroes or crates (I read that heroes crates were better value, is that right)?

Amazing!
There's probably a technical term for this phase of an MP game.

I was on Takodana and it really reminded me of paintballing, because as soon as both sides reached the memorial hill thing they just hid behind cover and played extremely cautiously, really odd, but it gave the game a nice pace.

Well, I thought the campaign was garbage through and through. But, as far as credits go, it depends on if you want to unlock any heroes like Luke or Vader. If you don't care for them, spend it on hero crates, forget about Trooper crates. Also, make sure you claim all your credit rewards for beating the campaign and such.

I'll just refer back to Dave's post:

Do NOT buy trooper crates! These are by far the worst value. Always buy hero crates. I suppose if your main game is starfighter assault, those crates aren't too badly priced either. But the trooper crates are horrible value! It's a bit off to complain "the progression is way too slow!" when you're gimping yourself to ~55% progress through choosing the slowest option every time. Even if you're playing troopers at all times, hero crates are a much better value!

Don't think of crates as a means to get cards! They are a means to get crafting mats, which are a means to get exactly the card you want. As far as I know every regular crate (Trooper / Starfighter / Hero) has a guaranteed drop of 35-50 crafting mats. On average easily enough for a new rank1 star card. Think of each hero crate akin to a "skill point" in any regular game, it unlocks 1 ability of your choice. The rest of the stuff it gives are secondary, unlikely to be what you want (but doesn't matter, since you are guaranteed what you want!). You will of course pick up a lot of cards along the way anyhow, which saves some crafting mats.

Strongly consider buying hero crates instead of unlocking heroes at the start. If you must have Darth Vader, or if your main game is HvV then I suppose fair enough. To the general galactic assault beginner player though, chances are it's a pretty rare to score enough BP in a game with zero-card classes to even make use of the most expensive heroes. So I think at the least using hero crates (the crafting mats from them) to unlock the 2nd star card slot for your regular class(es), and add some basic buffs / abilities you like the look of is a good idea. And then when you do get to unlocking the remaining heroes, you have the majority of their cards unlocked already.

If you use this hero crate strat, duplicates are not (as much of) a useless waste (as they are in trooper crates), since the price of a hero crate is so much cheaper. Every 11 dupes are a free hero crate, or equivalently another ~40 crafting mats (the real currency). Because the pool of hero cards is quite small,

Saving all credits for an eventual unknown rebalance seems like a terrible idea to me. I consider it far more likely a rebalance will alter credit earn rate, rather than let that remain constant and tweak the prices of things and risk the ire of people who have spent credits already.

edit:

I don't mean to call you out, I realize trooper crates are the top of the list and the default choice. But this is a perfect example. You've been spending twice as much credits as you needed to, no wonder it feels they are infrequent and not worth it. But you can "double credit payout" for yourself whenever you want - choose hero crates, craft the cards you want :)

Game is really really good. Starfighter assault is simply amazing. The groundgame plays so well in third and first person.
Loving arcade mode too, i'm a sucker for such challenges. AI is not the smartest but they absolutely keep you on your toes. Great.

I was pleasantly surprised by the Arcade Mode. Diggin' it.
Especially the timed challenges are nice.

Omg so I'm using my last few minutes of EA Access trial in the ship battle MP mode and the game failed to load the X wing/bomber etc so it looked like 2 pilots flying on a broomstick, normally I'd quit but it was so hilarious looking that I went with it, next thing I know I'm Yoda flying around I fucking lost my shit it was so funny looking best glitch ever XD

I've been using that one and I haven't noticed one shotting specialists.
I still need to unlock the fourth gun myself but on the stream I saw he had to headshot people.

Watched Stodeh on YouTube. Dude is a monster with the 50 cal.

This gun is gonna be a problem in a couple weeks when everyone unlocks it.

I think it's 500 kills to unlock? Or 250? Not sure.
I guess if you only play specialist and go for kills, you'll unlock it a lot faster.

I'm going for the 500 kill Heavy weapon (TL-50) and man this shit is slooooooooooooow. It'll take me a long time to get it and I don't even do bad.

I'm going to try the multiplayer later today. Any tips you guys can give me, characters/skills to use when just starting out? Buying hero crates instead of trooper is a good tip above. I hardly ever play mp games and I'm hoping I can at least have a good time.

It's 500 and I reached 150 a couple hours ago. I have a feeling when more people start seeing the havoc that 50 cal causes we're gonna see a lot more snipers lol.

Buy hero crates. Use the crating materials you earn from crates to craft specific cards that suits your playstyle. Play in third person mode. Roll often. When your gun overheats time your reload over the golden line.

The specialist has a perk that lets you vanish off their radar, while revealing enemy positions. Good for flanking and getting multiple kills silently.

I think proper kills are final blows by you.

Everything else is basically an assist, but it still displays as an elimination on your screen and on the in game scoreboard.

Two thoughts after playing a few rounds of multiplayer:
1. Wow, the artists and graphics engineers have done an incredible job.
2. I'm so bad at this game. Just saw the post above and I guess I'm gonna start third-person rolling it up!

I thought the gun heroes were useless when I first played this game, but the more I play HvV I'm finding Lando to be the best one in general. Got used to evading saber swings with well timed rolls followed up with a shock grenade and some quick headshots for an easy down.

Also. Dice did not think things through for a couple of these maps. Boba can literally fly up on a structure and camp while he's marked. There isn't a damn thing heroes can do. A grenade from Han? Good luck. Only die and reset the markers.

Yeah, "Eliminations" are basically kill assists, I'm assuming they put that up there front and center over deaths to make people feel better.

Also just had a hilarious moment where I spawned as Kylo alongside a Darth Maul, we both ran into a bunch of dudes and I Pulled them, and while they were in mid-air the Maul forced pushed them. This game is great.

its why i stick to the fact the guns should be locked to either your class rank or purchased with credits, tying to get the kills in an online game espcially with assists and everything happening and they also force you into using heroes etc too. is shitty especially if the starting gun is pretty dire and stuff too

Yup. Even if you play Blast mode which is troopers only, you're still going to end up using the Rocket/Flame/Whatever Troopers because well, why wouldn't you.

I'd recommend playing Blast and/or Strike for the kills since you'll get a lot more there

Getting these kills for mod unlocks on the 2nd Specialist gun is going to be the death of me, sniping is not at alllllll my thing. Going like 5-20 lol. The third gun (A280 whatever) is at least more usable for me.

I've got a maximum level Heavy shield starcard so I just 1v1'd a Chewie head on by soaking up all of his damage as I killed him. I bet he was like WTF.

I'm getting so annoyed by Galactic Assault atm. The ships are so OP and the amount of points you can earn with them is absolutely crazy, there is no reason to play infantry above ships in this game mode, really needs a fix.

Kinda sucks when you work ridiculously hard on the objectives, get tons of kills and do really well only to be beaten by somebody that went around in the sky blasting at AI for 20 minutes only amassing 10 kills. Pretty nuts how doing that can get you 13000 points ahead just by doing that.

Right, and its made worse by the fact that on many maps opposing sides do not have the same air opportunities or starfighter classes. There isn't any point in doing it past 30k score though, since that is the experience cap per match.

I don't know, I kind of view Galactic Assault as a mode where everyone needs to be playing a role. If someone else is better at using a vehicle than me and can raise absolute hell when doing so, then I would prefer them to play that role in order to help the team win.

The fact of the matter is that so far I am better on the ground in this mode and love doing my part in working with other ground troops to protect/secure objectives, while those adept at using vehicles swoop in and do their part as well. I don't care if they top the board, as I am nearly always still having a good round sticking to what I am best at, which also of course benefits the team.

Farming AI kills doesn't help the objective whatsoever, so it's useless what that guy did.

This. Though to be fair I'll occasionally farm AI star-fighter kills to quickly unlock a hero. That said, a good star-fighter pilot is needed for Starkiller Base on attack, especially on the second point. I can't count the number of times I've basically saved my team or tied up an Overtime by continually strafing that second point in my A-Wing.

How many single player star wars games have you played? Ive played MUCH worse. On that note, ive played much better single player star wars games as well. Objectively, this is an improvement over the first game though. I wish disney had not decided to only give the star wars ip to one dev though. The development rate seems slooooow.

I know assists can count as eliminations, but I also regularly get assists (pops up on my screen +100 or whatever number) that DON'T count as eliminations. What's the deal with those? Why are things like this needlessly convoluted lol..

I'll echo the couple people that said they are confounded by the rolling. This saves guys I've drawn a bead on all the time, but I almost never think to do it myself.

Also need to learn the maps better. It feels like a "get shot in the back" simulator at times.
