I think avengers might have that or John wick also tdk trilogy but 2 out 3 films from that were in the 2000s so I don't know if that counts. If episode 9 does well then maybe.
First was ok if a let down from LOTR, second two were a compete mess.

They're rather banging. I was so surprised at how good they were.
Planet of the Apes... I really need to watch that trilogy. As it stands, the sequel Star Wars trilogy is in the lead thus far. But I have indeed been sleeping on POTA.
I mean so far I would argue it's got a pretty strong case for the title two films in.
Me too. Everyone seems to love them but the subject matter isn't very exciting to me for some reason.
Same-ish. As it stands, it's between SW and John Wick as far as trilogies I've seen through this decade, and they're pretty much neck and neck at this point.

I haven't looked all the way through it but it does have some really neat fold-out stuff. And the interior art is beautiful

This new EW pic of the trio in the worm tunnel def supports the sandworm encounter described in the leaks
I think so too but you have to take into account that there's inflation and how there are more people that go to the movies so it doesn't mean much.
How are we measuring best reviewed though? Rotten Tomatoes? Metacritic score?
I definitely think this trilogy will be considered somewhere between the PT and OT for fans. Better than the PT but much worse than the OT.
And it's not inconceivable that TROS reviews worse than ROTJ.
Captain America trilogy (Besides POTA) is better.

I don't have too many talents in this world, but for one reason or another I have always been able to tell when a leak is legitimate, lmao.
Civil War hurt the average for Cap America for me although it has a solid case. I'd say the top 3 are 1. Sequel Trilogy (so far) 2. POTA 3. Cap America.

The First Avenger is by far the weakest for me and Civil War is my favorite movie of the MCU. It's difficult for me to think of it as a real trilogy anyway though.
With Anakin Solo as the protagonist. Do it, Disney, and I'll watch TLJ once a week for a year.
I just hope they pull it off. The inciting incident seems to be Leia's death and Rey's unwillingness to turn to the dark side by healing him.
Anakin fights above lava and is burned alive, found by Palpatine and reborn as Darth Vader.
Kylo Ren in the cleansing water that leads to his redemption. He is defeated but resurrected by a Palpatine and reborn as Ben Solo once again.
I still think the stabbing him then healing is a bit of a cheat. It allows Rey to act on her darkest impulses and then just reverse the effects without consequence to herself or her descent to the dark side. This scene could he really bad if not executed well

From a bigger standpoint it also tells us the Force can be strong with anyone and isn't necessarily tied to a name or heritage. Which is further enforced by Broom Kid at the end.
Retconning this would just diminish this amazing moment in TLJ so fucking hard. It would also not be very good storytelling (unless they surprise me) as it would mean nothing dramatically for the character. It would have a high chance of being a twist for the twist, a plot beat that doesn't mean anything important. It would be the 'Leia is your sister' of the ST."

Why is it crow if they liked that development?
I loved Rey Random but also strongly disagree that her being related to Palpatine (whatever that relation may be) would do nothing for her character.
I don't care if people prefer Rey Random, I've just been tired of people arguing relentlessly that it's the only thing that makes sense for Rey and that it's a done deal. It always seemed to be obvious to me that there was something more planned for her.
Rey being of lineage makes more sense since considering how strong she was demonstrated to be and I actually prefer that. That being said her being a random wasn't too bad either. Showed a person strong in the force could be anyone really. I mean anyone on the council was top tier and not necessarily of lineage.

I think that's fair. Despite it being the predicable and expected route, i think it prob would have been better if she was Luke's daughter. Would have played right into her abandonment issues and would have been a great source of drama and conflict between them on the island.

I was possibly a bigger fan of "Rey the Nobody" than most on this site tbh; I have written copiously as to why it meant so much to me. But honestly it's whatever at this point; I can take some solace in the fact that she has already gone through that sort of arc regardless of her true lineage.

That's definitely what I was hoping for myself, and I have to eat crow myself for making fun of the Rey Palpatine theories in 2015. Now that I've had time to think about it though I actually think her being a Palpatine is more interesting.
