But this is literally what people have been begging for. A combat heavy single player star wars game.

The negative outcome is 90% because EA is the publisher. It's the same with anything Microsoft releases.

If this was a Sony or from game, people would be salivating to play it.
Poor Microsoft and EA, always unfairly judged...

That's sarcasm from me btw.

They made the exact same mistake the developers of force awakens did, lightsabers should slice people in half, it just looks weird otherwise.

New info
  1. You can upgrade and customize your lightsaber with different parts and colors
  2. Levels are quite large
  3. Lightsaber combat is silk smooth and responsive and it's close to Sekiro
  4. Vehicles with guns confirmed
  5. Difficulty settings and there was plenty of challenge in the GI demo, harder than the EA Play demo
  6. There are combos but enemies are tough
  7. There's a ship-HUB, you use this to travel to various planets
  8. Many path locked behind gadgets and abilities to unlock
  9. Good variety in locations in old and brand new planets
  10. There's Photo mode
  11. Player customization and Skill tree with various upgrade circles
Hopefully they'll show off more of that stuff at MS's conference tomorrow.

DId you see that wookie? lol
I think people thought it look grander, better ext. since like it ea only singer player Star wars game and really one the few singler players games they made this gen.
Is this all this is down to? A background character model made entirely of hair, built for current generation consoles, while aiming for 60fps, looking a bit naff? That's why this looks bad?

Yeah, I suppose so. Titanfall 2's solid campaign probably set some expectations too. I don't really think this looks that much worse than TF2, but it doesn't look better either...

I don't know what's the point of holding back on indepth gameplay/mechanics on your first reveal. That is when engagement is at it's highest.

Game doesn`t look very exciting to me. Can`t put my finger on it, maybe it was a bad session to demo. One thing I hope they improve is the animations, they make the game look janky. Good thing theres plenty of time to polish it. Apparently the extended demo is much better, I hope EA uploads it since it could help on the bad impressions left by this demo.

Not a single fleeting chance in hell. Outcast/Academy's lightsaber combat was complete garbage and I remain baffled to this day why anyone thinks otherwise. It bore zero resemblance to lightsaber combat in any movie or other media and just the brief amount shown in this demo is 10 times better by default.

The best possible thing they could've done is steering as far away from this as possible. And thank god that they decided to do that.

This game literally has DS like exploration right down to limited health supplies that need to be replenished at specific places that respawn all the enemies.
Its pretty unnerving how hubs are dark souls trademarks and how checkpoints respawning enemies also are. From ripped that off from Ninja Gaiden yet its always DS mentioned due to its recent popularity

Release the Snyder cut. I want to see necks being snapped while our heroes scream like animals.

Looks dull.

If it's going to be a cookie cutter AAA Star Wars game at least pick a better series to imitate.

Looks like Uncharted to me, which is fine because I like and want more Uncharted. Will get.

You know, regarding the lack of body slicing, that's actually really accurate to how the movies portray anything other than nods to the original arm chop and decapitations.

I remember it being a blast, especially the online multiplayer. It's kind of telling that we're looking back over 15 years ago to find something comparable though! Force Unleashed didn't satisfy people wanting a new Jedi Knight, maybe this game has a chance to?

Boring gameplay
Poor animations
Drab environments
Disappointing graphics (Battlefront 2 looks a generation ahead)

The AI looks braindead and the light sabre doesn't even look that good either! I'd rather replay Jedi Academy.

That's cus he's not actually hitting anyone. They all know how dangerous lightsabers are and are falling over and off the crafts trying to avoid his crazy hobo-like knife swinging.

I wish there was something like a foreign exchange program for game developers and Japanese combat vets could embed with Western ones.

Obviously Jedi are like Samurai used for acts of Seppuku who would leave a tiny bit of flesh uncut so the head would not go rolling away after severing.

Way more Star Wars Uncharted than I was expecting, happy we are finally getting that. My only complaints would be it looked very easy and some animations looked off. But full faith Respawn can deliver a great campaign, so definitely something I'll keep an eye on.

He hits at least one person in literally every single gif....
I was joking.

Though, I will say that Vader does actually chop one rebel in half in rogue One (the guy he pins to the roof).

I assume they're avoiding dismemberment because of either engine limitations (it's hard to programme) or because Stormtroopers are still human and Disney don't like that.

Yeah I really wasn't that impressed with what they showed. Like it's definitely more polished than TFU but it doesn't have that fun physics sandbox-y style to it. They keep talking about it having 'thoughtful combat' but it just seemed like he was tearing through Stormtrooper mooks which is like, a world apart from the tension of 'one crazy diseased man with a knife can kill you' in Bloodborne.

It looks nice. Graphically, it’s not as good as Battlefront. But I kind of expected since they are using Unreal 4, not Frostbite.

I think I need to know more about the characters. I like Star Wars for their characters and their interaction, not the lightsaber, and this trailer do nothing for me since there is barely any dialogue.

Looks cool and I like the actor they selected. Lol at the trooper with the baton saying “I will make you hurt” shut up Trent Reznor lol. Such a cheesy thing to say.

Yeah the game looks violent without the actual dismemberment. One trooper even says “he’s dead!”

Yeah, everybody who was expecting dismemberment was a bit illusional. Even in the Jedi Knight games it happened very rarely.
I think you mean delusional.

And so what? Maybe it'll happen rarely here? But it wasn't a common occurrence without a cheat code (At least with my experience with the on disc PC game.)

Jedi Knight games weren't renowned for dismemberment, but a deep combat system that wasn't done before. Complaining about limbs flying, in a family swashbuckling franchise like Star Wars, is shallow as fuck!

I actually added that gif, he doesn't chop the guy in half. It leaves a scar very similar to the marks left on enemies here.

I mean yea that's what I was saying, I keep seeing people ITT referring to the lightsaber here as being like a club but it's actually really accurate to how it's supposed to look.

This is the same people who made Titanfall 2’s
excellent campaign right? Demo was a bit generic, but maybe it will be surprising

I wonder how many innocent stormtroopers who just want to get home to their partners after a long shift this “jedi” will murder on his travels

Respawn's previous games are rather adult and they've made this with significant freedom apparently so I understand the expectation for that kind of stuff. This game does look like it might be aimed primarily at younger audiences though, and that's cool. I didn't expect this would be super for me even if it looked better.
