One reference is already visible. Jannah's bow and arrow = Ewoks. I think that part of the movie, that Vanity Fair said is Finn and Jannah (on horses) leading the charge against mechanized FO, is going to be a callback to ROTJ Endor moon fight. You have mechanized forces vs more primitively equipped but strategically smarter opponent.

Here's how much my stupid brain likes Star Wars. I was driving home yesterday and some sort of cricket insect appeared on my front windshield looking all gross like most insects do. Now, my immediate reaction was to turn on the wipers and remove such filth from existence. But then my brain was like, "that's not keeping with the Jedi Code, that little insect is part of nature and has just as much right to live." Then I nodded sagely and let the creature just chill on my windshield to the short ride home and never swiped him off.

I legit stopped from killing an insect because I had a WWLSD (What Would Luke Skywalker Do?) moment. Even though I'm pretty sure Luke would kill the fucking thing considering he used to use womp rats as target practice.

So, much for 'Disney' ignoring the prequels. Yet again it's repeated that Ep 9 connects all 9 films.

Personally, I'm holding out hope that this all means that Watto returns. It's been too long.

Fuck man

This movie is gonna be sad, not sure if I'm ready.

Also notice that tweet describes it as the last SW movie.

It will be advertised like this

Luke probably killed that bug's entire family in Battlefront 2.

Digital Bits has sources saying that we're probably getting a Star Wars Saga 4K boxset next year: http://thedigitalbits.com/columns/my-two-cents/062519-1500

First, a duh; second, it's gonna be a rough time for my wallet if this and the TROS blu release at the same time.

Be still my 4K heart.

I bet that little buddy went home and watched a Star War in your honor.

Solo notwithstanding I've been a remarkably easy please with these new movies so I fully expect to be shaking to the core of my soul with melancholy for 80% of this film.

Don't worry, we'll get EP 10 within 10 years. That's for certain.
We have a unconnected trilogy over the next decade. I don't see any reason to assume they aren't serious about this being the end of the Skywalker saga. They could run with a KOTOR saga for a long, long time.

I don't think we will see it again in the next few decades because I think a core reason it's ending is unless you had the OT then you don't care about the saga. It's why the sequels don't do good in markets like China that never got the OT. They want a fresh canvas.

It'll happen eventually. No way the main line saga ends for good.

The skywalker saga might end, but they will want to keep the numbered episodes for marketing, if for no other reason.

I guess I'm one of those weirds who would be totally fine if they ended film production entirely for a while and focused on Disney+ shows, books, and games

The buzz right now in terms of cast commentary feels like the polar opposite of what we saw for GoT S8.

This thing's going out with a bang.

I don't want it to end. :(
I do not want to see this end :(

The Skywalker saga always had to end a some point (and depending on our individual ages, we already came to terms with that in 1983 or 2005, only to be granted these mostly wonderful reprieves), but Star Wars isn't going anywhere soon. Think about how much we've gotten since the Lucasfilm acquisition, and how much more is on the horizon!

No, I'm right there with you. I'd be fine to hold off on the movies for a bit, especially for live action and animated Disney+ shows.

Solo is the only SW film that wasn't a mega-success and Kennedy has conceded they released it at the wrong time and too close to TLJ.

It sucks because I really wanted a Solo trilogy given how fun the first film was but oh well.

That said, I think Kennedy is smart to give the new trilogies time to gestate and allow the TV show its own maturation without being deluged by other high-profile SW projects. Given the talent and resources behind The Mandalorian, they are obviously treating it like a serious entry into the SW cannon and when the next SW film comes out in three years it will feel like an 'event' film, which is what audiences want from SW movies.

I don't know if they'll call it Episode X, but I'm sure there will be a movie in 2027 for Star Wars' 50th anniversary and I'm sure they'll want to get Mark and/or Daisy back for it.

But there's no reason it needs to be part of the 'Skywalker Saga' and no reason that story needs to continue indefinitely anyway. Many of the characters and/or actors from the OT are gone now, and it probably bodes poorly for the future of the franchise if it cannot adequately move on to new stories unrelated to Skywalkers and the push/pull conflicts between rebellions and empires and Jedi and Sith.

Imma need Rian to wrap up and release Knives Out already so he can concentrate on the task at hand.

I rewatched the prequels and Rogue One over the weekend, and enjoyed them, though my new ranking was a bit surprising.

3 > Rogue One > 1 > 2

1 has awkwardness, but it's mostly around JarJar and some of the awkward child acting, but he does nail it sometimes(namely when he has to leave Shmi), and the highs are great(Maul, Tatooine, Coruscant).

2's awkwardness is a lot more prevalent, and painful. 3 is aces from start to finish, and Rogue One is solid as can be, easily the best of the Disney SWs. Doesn't hit the prequel highs, but never sinks to the lows.

Incidentally, it's funny how R2-D2's memory isn't wiped. Poor guy remembers everything. Should've had a scene in the special edition when he warbles happily at seeing Vader, lol.

Yesterday I came across a video titled something like "DAISY RIDLEY TO JOIN NEXT TRILOGY" and then in the video he starts off by saying she might. lol

But also, Daisy was asked if she was gonna be in the next movie and she had no idea what the next movie even was, if it was D&D's or Rian's.

So Treason is the last Thrawn book? Never heard it referred to as a trilogy before, thought he said way back that he was planning like 5 or 6 books.

Hopefully that means Treason actually goes somewhere and doesn't just spin it's wheels like Alliances did. As disappointed as I am with those books (I mean they're okay...) I have to admit that comic con exclusive cover with all the chiss has me kinda hyped. Show us the damn Ascendancy already!

Maybe people should stop reading mediocre books and he'll stop writing them?

I watched my VHS of ANH and decided to compare it to the DVD... yiiiiikes. The last scene cropped out Chewie, lol.

I want the Solo storylines to continue, too. Disney should do it as another tv show.
