this is such boring look. Lando outfit looks like Lando so that's fine, nothing we haven't seen before but associated with him. Poe could literally be from any movie or video game cause his outfit is that generic. Rey looks like her TFA garb was finally sent to cleaning. Finn is wearing the most generic street clothes, is this even a costume? I swear I walk by 20 people dressed like that each day. Jannah outfit was borrowed from some cheap sci fi TV or direct-to-video. Was costume department on strike or something?
And also,

Rey got chubby.

nah. Those costumes are lit. You see Finn's outfit every day on the street? Lol okay man whatever.

those pants look like jeans to me and I hate blue and brown combo ugh. It's also yet another Han wannabe look that new SW movies are too full of. First that ugly leather jacket that Finn and Poe shared, then Cassian's generic leather jacket, then literally the same look on Poe in TLJ and now this. I'm honestly not surprised that these characters toy have been peg warmers since the first movie. Why settle for poor man's knock-offs when you can just buy the real deal (OT merch)? With the exception of Rey (and her new uniform is just whiter TFA one), they didn't bother to give other heroes even a slightly distinguishable look let alone potentially iconic one. Oh well, maybe new SW trilogy that has nothing to do with this one invests more in memorable looks for entire cast.

I don't have a strong opinion on the new costumes.

I would say though, that Rey's look in the second half of TLJ was by far her best look. Not surprised they could not top that one.

Well you can't accuse these movies of just making character designs to sell toys

Anyone know where this picture comes from?

It's from TLJ by the look of her shirt. Corresponds with Ahch-to scenes where she trains with the saber:

same shirt, same sky.

I don't think Rey's hair was the only thing that they matched up with TFA for the Leia scene. I would not be surprised if her outfits colour was the same as her TFA one for the that reason as well.

I finished Master and Apprentice this afternoon. Not my favourite book from Claudia but I still had a good time with it. The ending felt a little rushed but it genuinely surprised me even if it could have done with more development.

I especially enjoyed the flashbacks to Qui-Gon's padawan days with Dooku and their fixation on the prophecies. Wouldn't say no to more Rael Aveross at some point either.

Edit: I see he's featured in Dooku: Jedi Lost. Maybe I should listen to an audiobook for once.

The stupendous Wave's YouTube channel has fallen to the dark side. I had to unsub.

I'm now down to Star Was explained and HelloGreedo.

To be fair, the format of the meme is that Crowder is presenting a dumbass idea. However, and I know I shouldn't judge a book by it's cover...but...I mean...

Hey! Good book. Master & Apprentice's audiobook was also great. ;) Dooku Lost's is spectacular though.
And I agree the endgame was a tad rushed but yes! Some great twists near the end. I never trusted Fanri but they still managed to make her turn intriguing.
I don't trust any third-party Star Wars YouTube Channel, to be frank.

Nor do I, to be oz.

I love RotJ but the retreading of ANH ground are the worst parts about it. Jabba's Palace just as well could have been on a different planet. Death Star II is still a stupid, terrible idea and I'd have preferred an entirely different setpiece. Just as SW fans we are so used to it now that nobody really questions those aspects anymore.

Owen had 20 years to perfect his cover story for Luke and the best he could come up with was this:

"Obi-Wan is just a crazy old man."
"Actually I'm not sure if he still exists anymore."
"Actually he died 20 years ago, so he definitely doesn't exist anymore and I guess there was no reason for anyone, during your entire life, to have ever mentioned him."

Just a fun The Last Jedi fact that not a lot of people catch when watching. Poe is actually saying General Hugs, not Hux just to add to him "tooling him."

A bit late, but this didn't get enough love.

I may be wrong, but I believe this gag has been known since before the film released. 11 minute preview at a Mexico event, I think. Don't ask how I remember that.

For all the guff people give that sequence, at least it gave us this nicely multi-purpose gif:

I can remember finding out about this from one of the books that came out or leaked or before release. It wasn't the novelization as that came out months later but it was a book that retold bits from the movie.

Remember when Boba Fett, the beloved badass character, fell into the sarlacc and died like a chump and then it burped? Get this Whedon humor out of my Star Wars. Can't believe Kathleen Kennedy would do this.

Crikey you're all a bit sensitive, but I guess the TLJ threads will do that to you.

It's the mum joke that's lame, along with the Hux actor being a terrible actor.

I'm not a fan of the character, but it's nothing against the actor. It's just his generic rage that irritates me. Krennic in Rogue One was a more nuanced and interesting character. (Hell, anyone from Rogue One was.)

Come to think of it, I'm not sure if ANYONE from the First Order was properly fleshed out.

ANH is a silly movie. It's a classic of course but rewatching it last night made me appreciate how much of a quantum leap forward ESB was. There are plenty of plot holes and leaps in logic here that it makes you wonder how anyone who takes the "everything wrong with..." hatchet to the new films ever became a fan of Star Wars in the first place. Like, why does the Death Star come out of hyperspace behind Yavin and wait to orbit around the planet to get the moon into firing range, when they could've just jumped to being right on top of Yavin IV to begin with?!

also, Gleeson is a good actor but Hux is a shitty character. He's supposed to be this sniveling over-the-top weasel, so his performance is pretty on point, but the premise of the character I think just sucks. Unfortunately the Russian trolls are in the tank for Hux so they'll never kill him off...

The mom joke is actually pretty petty from Poe if you understand the context:

Hugs/Yo mamma joke was terrible. First, most people didn't get that he was saying Hugs so they missed the joke (which was dumb anyway). Yo mama is just bad bad bad. Second, I've noticed that SW fans don't like jokes at the expense of villains and I tend to agree. They don't make the hero cooler (at least all Poe jokes are so cringe they just make him an annoying douche) while villain loses his supposed intimidation. So nothing is accomplished. hero annoys with stupid unfunny humor while villain loses his scary mojo.

Gleeson does a good job with Hux for what they are trying to do with him (semi comic relief OTT villain). At least he is easy to pinpoint unlike the heroic characters who are all over the place and lack distinctive personality.

But we're given no development, no backstory. Nada. In the first five minutes of Rogue One, we know who Krennic is, and what he's after. With Hux, it's 'you're generic fascist Empire general, go'.
