That's so stupid
Let them have this one shred of happiness in their weary and horrible lives.

Ahsoka is great. I really wish I'd heeded friends' advice and gotten started with The Clone Wars while it was still producing seasons. I felt kind of meh because I'd wanted a live action show for so long and at first I wasn't feeling the CG style. Fell into the trap of saying things like, "This is just for kids." Which in hindsight I realize was silly since ultimately isn't all Star Wars for kids to some extent anyway?

I've learned the error of my ways. Ironically, the guy who spearheaded all the CG stuff I avoided for so long is now helping out big-time for the first live action show. So I can have my cake and eat it too, I guess.

Was it ever stated why The Clone Wars show was the only piece of spin-off media to survive the Disney purge?

I'm just curious.

tbh the way she is thrust into the series actually is really dumb but she becomes a great character over a series of multiple of hardships. I can excuse her being such a pivotal character to almost every main character and never being mentioned by them just because I think she is that good.

Ahsoka screams fan fiction

The apprentice of Anakin Skywalker that was never seen or mentioned in the prequels, she's too good for the Jedi Order so she leaves, she's killed only no she wasn't killed she was actually pulled into another dimension that exists outside of time, and she survives past ROTJ now looking like Gandalf the White despite it seeming obvious that there should be no other Jedi alive during the OT.

She's a pet character.

And so is Captain Rex

I definitely agree. The early Clone Wars episodes (well, and especially the film that started it all) didn't manage to do much well at all IMO and if it hadn't been for all the warnings I'd received that it's a show you need to stick with for a while before it begins to blossom I probably would have dropped it. Despite the obvious contrivances that never really fade away, Ahsoka's development remains a gem to behold once her show starts, like, not being bad. lol

I'm still waiting for that Ahsoka show that has her looking for Ezra.

Me too. It's going to be glorious.

And I agree with the folks here who are saying that Ahsoka's presence kind of screams fan fiction to a point but I think it's all in the execution. At first it's very side-eye but by the end of the show she's come into her own so much that I can't imagine Star Wars without her!

Saw Ruin Johnson's Knives Out and the theater was packed. He can't keep getting away with it, isn't he aware he's a director of FLOPS?

Haha, just today! I consider it extremely good fortune that I was able to create this tag immediately after losing that bet. 😂

Such a good movie. Seriously deserves the bank it's been making.

Got Battlefront 2 Celebration Edition and I'm enjoying it so far.

Even if I'm not very good yet.
Until the next Nintendo Direct! Whenever that is. Hopefully soon. :P But it's like you said yesterday -- I've gotta own up to it. I believe in the BOTW 2 news dream. I fought. I lost.

...

Now I'm Geoff Keighley.
There are worse people to be.

I imagine will get a Direct in January.

Man... I've told a few folks here in our community thread crew that I'll hop back into Battlefront II soon but I still haven't. I played for a few months last year and had a terrific time. I bought the standard version for like $10. I'm tempted by the Celebration Edition even though I genuinely enjoy saving up to earn stuff organically in games because I just know once I dive back in everybody's gonna have everything unlocked and I'm gonna want that too.

It was a smart business move... <_>

I can understand this sentiment. I see Rey in the same way almost. Inherits Anakin's lightsaber, the Millenium Falcon, the Skywalker heir is like in love with her, she's the future of the Jedi Order, the last Jedi, super badass, bigger potential than Luke etc.

And I don't disagree with what you said about Ahsoka. But she's really compelling to me as a character so I pretty much forgive all of it.

I'll forever insist that they shouldn't have brought the Falcon back. It just really makes it feel like them riding the OT's coattails.

The new trilogy should have had it's own ship.

I had actually wanted to add that I'm totally OK with Rey. I can understand not liking her getting things handed down, like the Millennium Falcon, but I think it all works, especially that the lightsaber calls to her as she appears to be the new "chosen one" chosen by the Force. I don't think it's been suggested that she has more potential than Luke. And it makes sense if Ben has an interest in her, since she's the only person he knows that's at least kind of like him. Nothing about it feels anywhere near as contrived or fanficy to me as Ahsoka. Rey fits into this story naturally, she is filling in for the void left by Luke who cut himself off from the Force.

Quite the opposite, I think. Johnson left the door wide open. They could have told any story they wanted... and they made it about Palpatine.

It just seems to me like a frustrating lack of imagination. I wish they would trust these new characters enough to let them own the screen and have their story.

I disagree. I think JJ and Terrio are doing the best with what they were left with. The end of a trilogy has to have a conclusion about the current conflict and with the current cast and continue on from the story set up from TFA and TLJ. This is a trilogy of films.

So therefore, the door isn't wide open. TLJ left the sequel in a tough spot where the only "mystery" left was a resolution to Rey and Kylo and Resistance and First Order. That was it. No other dangling threads to resolve. So now the third movie had to come up with new things to resolve in it's own movie it was introduced.

As much as I am looking forward to and hyped for TRoS I resent TLJ for leaving the trilogy in that spot in the first place. After TLJ I didnt care what would happen next as there was nothing interesting me pulling me along. My hype of TROS is entirely because of JJ being the director, and the movie showing things that are getting me interested.

We have a new trailer...

MAKE IT STOP

What a great trailer!!

Had an intense dream last night. I dreamed I was watching TROS, specifically the climax, and it involved Rey and the Emperor. I vaguely remember her saying something defiant at a smug Palpy and then Kylo appeared beside her... and then all the force ghosts, Yoda, etc, behind her.

I got so excited I woke up.

I'm not even that hyped for this movie, what's happening lol...

I gotta say playing Heroes vs Villains it's badass seeing Anakin, Luke, and Rey all in their prime standing next to each other.

Because it was the only part of non-movie Star Wars that Lucas was seriously involved with. Other things may have had his characters in them, but were never considered his works live the movies and TCW. In fact, he'd willing change established canon with TCW too, such as bring Eeth Koth back from the dead and killing Even Piell early, who at that point was established in EU books as surviving well past Order 66.

Lucas was involved in all the worldbuilding, concept creation, story arcs, etc. except the actual writing process, which is why TCW is often described as "how the prequels should have been:" Lucas coming up with ideas and then passing them off to someone who can write a good script.

Catching up on Mando and after episode 5 I can't help but think, speaking as someone who doesn't watch TCW/Rebels, that Dave Filoni is either very overrated or just not good with live action yet. His writing and directing leave a lot to be desired.
