Y'all need to stop getting my hopes up.

If I watch it and I don't like it all that much, that's on you. My pain, suffering and sorrow, you'll be the cause.
It was good. Tied directly into TLJ.

The problem is that "good" Resistance is still like three tiers of quality below good TCW and Rebels.

At this point this truth is not really worth bringing up though. We know what Resistance is and how it compares. Enjoy what we are getting. esp when it ties directly into TLJ

I've still to catch the latest episode because every time I try, DisneyNOW breaks in a new way
Yeah that app is garbage... hopefully Disney+ is not run by the same tech or people.

I got into Youtube TV recently instead of getting cable through my internet provider (verizon), and it has unlimited dvr, and the disney channels. SO what I'm saying is, maybe look into switching your tv provider.

I remember when folks said the same thing about Rebels episodes being so far beneath The Clone Wars. It's unfortunate that Resistance's tone appears to make early Rebels look like Rogue One by comparison. I totally get wanting to keep Star Wars savvy for young kids and all but I wish we got something better (and longer-lasting) for the sequel era.

I liked Rebels (I own the entire show on Blu) but I don't think it ever reached the quality of Clone Wars, outside of a handful of really good episodes.

That said, Resistance is literally the only SW media I haven't seen and that's because it honestly always looked like a blatant kid's show with little redeeming qualities beyond that.

I've honestly been pretty down on the kids shows post TCW.

Rebels had some killer episodes here and there but it had way too much filler and the main character never really became interesting. The best part of his arc was, like, those 2 episodes were he was going to the dark side but they quickly moved passed that. The best part of the show ended up being Maul, Ahsoka and Obi-Wan, which weren't even Rebel characters.

With Resistance, I was pretty high on the show for about two episodes but it quickly became apparent that the tone had shifted too far on the kid friendly side and this show, too, would be stuffed full of filler. By the end of the season, the only good episodes that I can recall were the ones where Poe showed up for a bit and the final. They had a really great opportunity to expand upon a time period that didn't have a lot of new material but they wasted it all.

The visuals, while disappointedly not being anime inspired like they had sold it, were still gorgeous and they had a ton of great new designs.

Wherever they go from here, I really hope they realize that the extremely kiddy tone doesn't work that well. You can still have it be kid friendly without it going this far. And for the love of god, create a serialized story. Enough with these monster of the week shows, TCW/Rebels/Resistance have all been at their best with their serialized episodes.

So far the TROS build up, I'm gonna read:

A billion issues of the comics that I've not read.
Lost Stars manga volume 1-3
Alphabet Squadron
Master and Apprentice
Resistance Reborn

Also, goddamn, we're already halfway through October. I'm gonna have to start doing my re-watch in the next week or so.

Resistance never made sense from the start for me. If you're gonna make a show based around flying ships, make it about a pilot squadron. Not space racing. The Colossus is cool and all, but the show needed to be basically something more like Alphabet Squadron. Resistance never felt like it had much forward narrative momentum.

(that said, this most recent episode of Resistance was good)

Aye.

I really hope that the inevitable next animated show takes more cues from TCW than the rest of the bunch. Bringing that show back for a proper conclusion is a promising move.

Out of that list, I have read "Master and Apprentice," and it's very good. I wouldn't label it perfect but it handles its strengths really well. Terrific character development for both of the leads, strong worldbuilding, and a nicely twisty plot.

I don't think this is a particularly charitable interpretation of Rebels (although you are obviously entitled to your opinion). Most of the show after season 1 isn't filler, it's devoted to showing the day to day struggles of the Rebel Alliance. Unlike TCW, which doesn't really have any clear story arc and ends (or will end next year) without any real character development due to the fact that it's smushed between two other movies, Rebels has a clear story arc over the entire series and a tighter narrative focus on the Ghost crew. And Resistance is entirely filler, it has no clear plot at all and every single episode is just slice-of-life space station living. Ezra's not the most interesting character ever, but he's not a slapstick comedy character like Kaz is, and Rebels provides significant focus for other characters like Kanan, Hera, and Sabine, whereas Resistance has essentially no focus on anyone but Kaz and all the other characters are just wacky comedy characters just like he is (except Tam and Yeager, who never get any screentime). Rebels has a tone in line with the movies and TCW, while Resistance is clearly a comedy-focused series first and foremost, with almost no human drama or character development at all in its first season until the very end. Finally, Rebels also has a lot of creativity, with those fascinating crazy Filoni ideas about the Force and alien species and such, versus Resistance which is very vanilla and hasn't really introduced anything of note.

I could go on but I think Rebels is genuinely the best thing in the new canon (other than Aphra obviously) and people sell it short.

Rebels is a very consistent show, at least from the first two seasons I watched, compared to the first two seasons of The Clone Wars.

Rebels is a lot of fun and some of the better material of the current era but TLJ has earned the crown of best of Disney era content (and best Star Wars anything period since ESB) for me.

Rumored runtime of 155 min

Aye, but with final editing taking place this is an approximate placeholder so that theaters can ensure adequate time is held before a followup showing. It's often the case that the film winds up slightly shorter, because it's better to overshoot and have a few moments of a blank screen than to screw up and face a real problem.

So I'm guessing 146-152.

Yo Resistance is good. It's ok that there is a short term tv show more targeted towards kids out there. It's not unfortunate that there's something made for kids. You will live. You are getting Mandalorian in like 4 weeks.

But is it "good" or is it "made for kids"? Because those two things aren't mutually exclusive, as the Clone Wars and Rebels (two shows clearly targeted to children) previously demonstrated, as have dozens of other beloved animated kids shows and films in the last few decades.

When I show my kid the monster of the week episode that most people classify as "filler" and he asks to see the Bibo episode 2 more times, that's when I know the show is actually good.

Pablo can't block me. He liked my "None of this is canon" gif three years ago.
It sucks Pablo went dark 'cus that dude has liked a shit ton of my tweets and I don't mean to brag about that, he just did that because he actually read his replies and was super active with people. A few times he replied to shit I said 'cus he genuinely liked talking to people on there. I know most of the other people I follow never read anything I say to them but Pablo did.

I did, however, get a like from Mark, Carrie and Rian once. I do mean to brag about that. 😎

I'm sure Pablo got a lot of unnecessary angry tweets but he's been pretty snarky with fans on Twitter for the last almost ten years

Rogue One = 8 minutes 12 seconds
Solo = 8 minutes and 29 seconds

So whatever the final run time is, chop off about 9-ish minutes off of it.
