Honestly, this strikes me as the more common occurrence between the two! I've encountered more folks saying what you've said than what I said. For me, I think it's a matter of learning to love what works and accept the flaws that don't. This doesn't always happen; I don't think I'll ever truly like Attack of the Clones (though I don't find it insufferable). But it has happened with four out of five of the Disney-era flicks. (My opinion on TFA has never shifted upward, but it's always struck me as a good movie so that isn't such a bad thing.)
Solo is the only one I'm still not thrilled with but my December rewatch cranked it up from a 5 to a 7? Progress!
The success of Knives Out increases the chances of RJ directing another Star War. He cemented himself as a director with amazing critical reception and great box office numbers ->
He created a new franchise with a 40 million budget and fills every checklist of how a studio chooses a director.
LF has no reason to cancel his project other than satisfying the needs of the toxic minority... and after TROS I am worried they might just do that.

The toxicity in this fanbase isn't going to magically go poof overnight. We'd need like a Crisis level reset to get rid of it. Now I do think that Rian is going to get to do another SW's movie, but when we don't know until they announce something.
i ain't even gonna ask about the new avatar Lifejumper. not doing it
as far as established star wars directors go, rian is at the top of the list. surely. they might also want to go for folks that haven't directed a star war before but have had success with films in the industry. i also suspect, unlike what they did for the ST, they're thinking about the bigger picture and more than one film at a time, and how they are gonna connect and follow up on each other a la the MCU (for the high republic stuff)

Huge Star Wars nerd, absolutely adore the Originals, love the Prequels like the problem children they are and it still hasn't been long enough for me to be as enthralled with the ST as I am with the rest of the franchise.
I think TFA is cool, even if a rather unimaginative rethread. TLJ is actually pretty good, but it demanded a couple of re-watches. TROS is okay at best, though I've watched it only once - my biggest gripe with it was a letdown in terms of concluding the saga, with many dubious choices that reek of corporate intervention.
As for the spin-offs, I really dig both Rogue One and Solo, I think they're both (but especially the latter) very underrated.

Wow! I've seen it 3 times but that'll be my lot for the big screen. Cant wait to see it again in 4K at home though. I remember going to see Phantom Menace 7 times when it first released! Had a few weeks off work and a cinema pass and was overjoyed to see a new Star Wars film at the picture house despite its flaws.
It still has some problems, but I would definitely say it's better than the 1st half by far!!!
Define what the "right thing" is so that we can all know what banner you fight for.

She was in Hanna which had a lot of action scenes. I really liked it.
The right thing would be to diversify the people in charge behind the camera. If we are championing for anyone, it should definitely not be more white dudes, as Star Wars has had a huge problem with that.
Jeez, that percentage is rough. I'm not surprised though. I wonder how that compares to Disney's other owned studios like Marvel and Pixar.
Def agree with this. And I think her superhero stuff has been meh.
Seeing who they got for some Mando episodes gives me hope that theyre not going to stay inside the disney family when looking for new behind the camera talent.
RJ is obviously the best choice they've made and while I don't like Rogue One I thought Gareth did a great job directing it, but he got shafted with a bland script.
I've been seeing a lot of my fav directors pushing back against working in a studio/connected universe system like DC/Marvel/SW/etc so there is an image/production issue going on there too that pushes good talent away that they need to address.
Unfortunately Lucasfilm had to cut out many of Rian's future Star Wars movies because they didn't live up to the photorealism demands of leftover Carrie Fisher footage :(
Having loved the game myself I definitely think you should get one that (and not so that we don't have to tag spoilers).

Now we need a release date for when TROS comes out digitally and on Blu Ray.
Watched end of TLJ yesterday. Poe's whole arc in that movie is about getting humbled and understanding leadership. Am I the only one who expected him to be in a bigger leadership role in TROS and not off running errands with Finn and Chewie? Like he was too important to the Resistance for that?
Also, with Luke's line about the Rebellion being reborn and the war just beginning and his act sparking hope... did anyone else expect Resistance numbers to really increase? Like there would be a big shift in the power dynamics?
Also, come on man, how you do Hux like that? That last shot of him looking at Kylo like he wants to kill his ass... you just make him a spy? Come on man, Hux isn't gonna do the FO dirty like that. These guys just made whatever fucking movie they wanted. Literally did not give two shits about the movie that preceded it.

I've been really enjoying Star Wars Explained on YouTube. He didn't love TRoS but he's not making "everything wrong with" videos about it.
Edit: To clarify, I don't recommend that channel because he didn't love Rise, but because I find he's got a fair and balanced perspective on all of Star Wars. He knows when things aren't for him and is very thoughtful about the content he puts out.

Speaking of podcasts, I listened to the AIAS podcast with Stig from Respawn about game development (interviewed by Ted Price). There's a great chunk in it where they talk about making Fallen Order, how the project came about and dealing with Lucasfilm. Good stuff.
Some neat ideas in there. Seems all over the place but probably better than what we got with TROS. Builds on TLJ more and has more world building
Co-sign. I love Alex and Mollie of Star Wars Explained. They love and know a crazy amount about Star Wars.
Yeah, Binge Mode Star Wars has been excellent. Jason's "New York Sports Radio Calls" at the end of a couple of episodes absolutely killed me.
I'm the host of a Halo podcast, my co-host and I did a 3 and a half hour "Oddball" discussion starting with Rise of Skywalker and ending with a little Fallen Order and Mando. We're fans of Rise of Skywalker.

Probably fanfic, but not bad a bad list of super vague bullet points. Wrapping around to Coruscant and Mortis is a far more effective way of capping the saga than resurrecting Palpatine. Kylo's arc seems awful, though. Even worse than TROS.
Agreed, Batman & Robin is extremely entertaining on a meme/camp level, unlike TROS.

Mortis instantly makes me smell BS. Mortis was also part of the another completely bogus leak not long ago where someone was saying Matt Smith had been cast to play The Son. Mortis ticks so many fanboy buttons (deep lore foundation straight from George Lucas himself) that it feels like a Star Wars fan honeypot for false rumors. In reality, introducing Mortis in the final movie of a trilogy might be more out of left field than bringing back Palpatine.
Yeah I agree, especially luke inspiring literally no one sucks.
Also that "script leak" get the Luke haunting kylo thing right. How can you not include that: "See you around" ugh
