WTF they replaced her with that character?
It was eventually revealed to not be the case The Artist came out after the mob raged and explained how final art for Rose had not been done or sent to him so he worked with what he had at the time. The art with Rose was the final. Though Disney still did Rose dirty by making option without Rose.

What was Jannah's role in the story, again?

Other than give them horses and listen to Finn?

(on the other hand, Rose being typecast as the Finn sidekick that rides alien horses in 2 movies would have been hilarious though lol)

What I mean is that right now we have two characters, one introduced in this movie, that do just about fuck all. I'd rather one have not been created to let the other have just a bit more to do with the still limited screen time they'd have. Agreed about the horses but I imagine that could have been handled differently if it involved Rose instead.

I think it's time to collectively acknowledge that Disney is actually a net negative for diversity and representation and the fact that they now control about 70% of mainstream media entertainment is a really fucking bad thing.

He had an entire character about learning what it means to be a hero.
Lol yeah cool. Finn's entire arc was just an useless B-plot that went nowhere and his character became a joke. It was the definition of "I have no idea of what to do with that character".
Rian Johnson and JJ Abrams are very much the same when it comes to the treatment of PoC characters.

Well yes duh, but when someone just kisses you heat of the moment or not that brings alot of feelings into it. It should at the very least have made things a little more awkward between them

A whole year has passed in universe dude. What you're looking for will probably be covered by some comic that bridges the gap between TLJ and TRoS.

It is only going to get worse as Instead of catering to American Audiences they start to Pander to China and similar more and more. Going to go backwards in representation or film in such a way they can easily delete whole segments

She's great in Sorry About Your Loss, but her character in TLJ was super annoying and I find it really hard to believe that anyone on earth enjoyed that character and wanted more of her.

With as overstuffed as TROS was, cutting her out made sense. Do people wish Benicio del Toro came back?

Can't disagree with all that!!

I was scared that Jannah would be introduced as Finn's black love interest to avoid pissing off the racist fucks, relieved they didn't go that far.

I love how it's JJ Abrams fault for not redeeming Rian Johnson's terrible character.

Sucks for the actress of course.

I'm so glad Rose was removed for random slug alien who was on screen maybe 10 seconds to get a poster spot

Jesus this entire Twitter thread is disgusting. She was edited out almost everything...wtf

It's impressive how pissed off they made me for a character I didn't really care for. When she had to deliver the pathetic excuse to miss out on the entire plot I sunk in my seat realizing what they were doing

He didn't need to.

Existed to a foil to Finn. A cynic who only thought about himself.

Finn's actions at the battle of Crait are a repudiation of DJ. Its why I actually like Canto Bight and Finn's story.

Did that in TFA, even confronted the main bad guy directly.

In TLJ Rose tells him "we don't fight those we hate, we fight for those we love", yeah we knew that he did that in TFA.

TFA is just him being pressed over Rey rather than just himself, then TLJ pushes him to not just care about only Rey, but the entire resistance and what they're fighting for. The first two movies presented clear arcs for him, regardless of your feelings on them. TROS in comparison easily treats him the worst, as he has no arc, goes back to pining over Rey (which we get no payoff for), and brings up his force sensitivity and stormtrooper background again only to do nothing of worth with either of them.

Yeah this was pretty noticeable, but it was great having the main cast together for most of the film. I feel really bad for the actress though, definitely just caught up in a storyline that had a lot to cram in.

Disney gives fucks about money, not critical reception. To them the audience score is worth literally hundreds of millions; the fuck they care if critics realized what a stupid mess this film was.

Movie will do AT BEST the same as the "reviled" TLJ so...

That bit where he is screaming at Rey as she is a duel with Kylo and she force pushes Finn away was the worst

Rian Johnson should have done the entire trilogy. It would have been so much better.
I still don't get this love affair people have with Rian Johnson. People hate Rose because of his shit writing. It's his fault.

The Last Jedi is trash. Its a mixture of shitty attempts at marvel humor, subverting expectations, Reylo pandering, and merchandising. It's like people are forgetting how bad it is and are desperately trying to spin it as a masterpiece.

Both Johnson and Abrams are hacks when it comes to Star Wars. Neither should've touched this franchise.

Some people have liked/loved the movie since Day 1, it's been 2 years, y'all need to accept that already

I wasn't a huge fan of Rose in TLJ but damn they did her dirty in this one. There were multiple instances where having a mechanic like Rose would have helped on the journey but nope we had to get the purple power ranger and another under-utilized ex-stormie.

I feel really bad for Tran too, she has gotten so much bullshit over the past 2 years.

The Last Jedi was great.

I loved what it did with Luke, Leia, Rey, Finn, Poe, and Kylo Ren.

It has incredible direction, cinematography, and incredible themeing.

The scene with Yoda was incredibly satisfying

I liked her. Thought she was kind of the everyman who had to more directly deal with the price of war, and served as a nice foil to Finn (who was more concerned about Rey and himself than anything else) and Poe (initially just a "it's not a big deal as long as we get a win" kinda guy.)

While I like the film a lot, this will be one of the criticisms I level at it. Her absence was a huge bummer.

That said, I wonder if it was bending to the awful portion of the fandom, or a choice she made to just now be exposed to that fucking garbage any further. We probably won't ever know, but I wouldn't blame her if she wanted to bail on the franchise and the fandom after the toxic shitstorm around TLJ and her character.

She was the character I never realized the franchise needed.

The unnecessary introduction to Jannah is basically the film saying hey here's your Finn's black partner in crime. Rolled my eyes so hard.

I didn't care for her in TLJ — I have nothing against the actress of course, but everything related to the casino planet was truly horrible. I don't think anything was lost having her be in this one much less but certainly agree with that mindset that her being in it less sadly can be viewed as a victory for the assholes who have been so horrible to her.

Even though I found her character and performance in TLJ to be very poor, I thought Dominic Monaghan was frankly terrible in ROTS as well so she could have certainly chimed in for his parts. The new character/love interest for Finn was phenomenal for what it's worth.

I'll absolutely echo the sentiments that what KMT has had to endure is unacceptable and horrible, and fuck the racist/sexist ass hats that abuse(d) her.

Character wise in-universe, I thought Rose was fine but that the entire Canto Bight sideplot was a massive waste of time. It's not her fault, as a character. It's the writing, it was a huge dip in the movie, and fast forwarding through it on Re-watches improves the film substantially.

I would have loved to see Rose and Finn in a more interesting and meaningful story in TLJ than what we got, and because of what we did get I don't really care that Rose wasn't around all that much for ROS. She could have 100% had all of the lines that Dominic had, definitely agreed there. But she was a side character that didn't need to tag along with the main squad on the main mission, as well. Demanding that she should have is a bit odd, to me.

The latest trilogy is trash. By itself each movie is OK at best, but together they are terrible. If the character was "useless" in the second movie then make her useful in the third. Also half the characters are useless. Finn basically does jack shit in the last movie and Poe is there to "I know a guy" them to Babu Frik. I guess Finn does ride a horse on a space ship, and Poe goes "oh no, nobody's going to help us" before everybody helps them.

How is it guilty of merchandising more than any other star wars movie? What about in TROS when Rey lights up her saber in a desert in front of a random old lady? And Reylo pandering lmao, did you forget that the movie ends with Rey quite literally shutting the door on him? TLJ isn't the movie that has them makeout.
Yeah, like thinking The Last Jedi was good.
Critics just don't understand!!!!!

None of Canto Bight was a waste of time and it's the most nonsense propagated idea imaginable.

Feel bad she got sidelined so obviously

Can someone explain to me how Rose stopping Finn in his heroic attempt to destroy the laser was a better alternative to everyone being killed.
TLJ is easily my 2nd favorite star wars movie but that whole section is nonsense. She crashes into him which could have killed him and then they're both stranded about a mile away from their base with no working vehicles and her knocked out all right next to the entire First Order army and they somehow make it back unscathed.

Yeah Finn prolly just would have gotten blasted and then they would have fired up the cannon again but still, worst part of the movie by far.

This was disappointing. She was a great character in the last movie, she had a backstory and some important moments throughout.

The internet trolls won.
