Yeah fair shout.

Duel of the Fates is some sensational shit. Though I think I remember the teams always going out to it at St James' Park or somewhere which was not sensational.

Costume design, and a lot of the weapon and ship designs are fantastic as well in the prequels. It does feel like 'a more civilised time' for the most part.

I’m not big on what I’m reading, but everyone tells me it works and is good. I guess that puts me at ease a bit.

I think the prequels added a lot of good stuff to the world. They had some great alien designs (just don't look at the designs for the podracers)

I also like how they included a lot of OT era aliens, something which the new films haven't included much of:

Not sure if I like bringing "old guard" just to off them.
Chewie is still alive. R2 and Threepio are still alive. Leia would have been alive if not for fucking Disn - wait, real life. Luke dies in a way in which two former Jedi Knights have come back in the third film of a trilogy.

This is not the black and white scenario many of you are painting it as.

The OT did that with the prequel characters though.

If you were a kid who got into Star Wars via the prequels (and there was a TOOOOOOOON of them) then watching the OT you are watching your PT heroes getting picked off one by one till there are none left over the OT.

And if you think Luke is gone, then well you must be new to Star Wars. Luke will be back in IX for sure. Like Obi-Wan came back.

I mean I dont get the "NO MORE LUKE AHHHHH" anger. He went into super ghost man mode and fucked shit up at the end of TLJ. You really think thats it?

And his final line to Kylo before disappearing is: "See you later, kiddo".

Luke is coming back.

From what I've read so far I'm content that TLJ will continue making a mockery of the previous films. The only surprise is that it includes TFA in the list of films it shits on.

That doesn't mean it isn't a good film in itself, it does mean that the people in charge of the Star Wars reboot REALLY don't have any idea of the direction they want to take the series in, or what to do with the legacy they have been given.

I'm sorry, I just can't reconcile Yoda's OTT CGI lightsabre antics as being anything close to "bad ass". Infact, I don't feel Yoda's powers should come from any psychical prowess at all. His strength should come entirely from the Force. In my opinion he shouldn't even of had a lightsabre.

I always loved the idea that Yoda is a great swordmaster and one of the best sword fighters of all time, because it is so different from the frail, little master cliche he usually projects. The problem is the terrible realisation of it, not only with CGI that was simply not ready, but also the really awful fight choreography.

I am mostly "eh" because it is just boring and predictable.
When Kylo killed Han i nearly rolled my eyes out of orbit because I told my GF moments before entering cinema this woukd probably happen. I also h0oe they won't redeem Kylo in poor attempt to copy Vader, make him edgelord to the very end.

I do like that Rey is a nobody though.

Again, if Carrie was still here, and she was getting IX as her film, there'd be a lot less of this.

From what I've heard, Luke doesn't actually try to kill Kylo, that's just how Kylo interprets it. Or something.

I wonder what Lando has been up to.

Which just makes it even more apparent we are getting more Luke in 9. His final line is basically a space opera serial way of going "I'll be back!!" and without Leia he'll fill that void to some extent as a Force Ghost.

I think there's also a bit of fanboy apprehension about the lack of lightsaber wielding by him. Kinda bugs me too. What he gave us instead is something that just sounds crazy, and I'm not sure in a good or bad way. Excited to watch and find out.

If the Pawn guy is legit, the plot certainly doesn’t sound good to me.

And it also brings The Force Awakens down. All the mystery and questions we were looking forward to learning are answered. The answers are poop.

99.9% of those who have seen the movie so far say its one of the best, if not the best, Star Wars film to date. If this plot didn't work you'd see SOMEONE complain. No one has.
I've seen a few mixed to negative reactions online. ThePlaylist Rodrigo Perez for instance is sure to be a Rotten on RT in a few hours.

Especially the German press reactions (by several people who are huge Star Wars fans too and who I trust quite a bit in this regard) were more sombre. Good movie overall, but far from perfect, a bit uneven and still no ESB seems to be the overall tone.

It’s the best Star Wars movie. People are looking for reasons to bash it for attention.

That is absolutely not the "overall tone". The vast majority of critic reactions so far have stated its up there with Empire.

Rogue One critics said best since Empire too. TFA was loved by everyone and people are now much more critical of it. I expect glowing reviews, but it's a repeat cycle of "up there with Empire" and then a year later no one has it up there with Empire.

Care to expand upon that slightly more than not at all? I've seen people say Rey parent's being two random Jakku scavengers is terrible, but I've yet to see an explanation as to why.
Explanation of why Rey being a random sucks? Well, we hoped for more. And Jakku was the Empires last stand right. So basically Rey being on Jakku after the Empires final stand is coincidence. She did combat moves similar to The Emperor. She had a connection to Slywalkers Lightsaber. She is a good pilot. But she is just a random.

Most of the people who defended the circumstances of her being a Mary Sue did so because they thought there would be a good answer.

Snoke is killed before he could be seen as a credible threat. We were wondering so much about him. And we shouldn’t have. He was a throw away character.

And Luke projects himself and dies doing it because he missed his ride and had no way to call an Uber.

I too wish Luke would own people with sicknasty lightsaber tricks. Remember when Obi-Wan hacked Darth Vader into a million pieces with his lightsaber in A New Hope and then did a rad kickflip off a stormtrooper's head? Can you imagine if he instead abandoned violence entirely and ascended to a higher plane as a culmination of some kind of spiritual journey? That would have been shit. Or how about that time in Return of the Jedi when Don Luke de la Vega carved his initials into the Emperor's still warm corpse instead of putting down his lightsaber like a complete pussy? These are definitely real things that happened in Star Wars and I correctly understood what they meant.

Wasn't Anakin a random?

Wasn't Yoda a random?

Obi-Wan?

Mace?

Palpatine?

Does it fucking matter if they were or not?

Why does everyone need to have fifteen generations of force power behind them to be powerful with the force?

Is having the force like royalty? Is it only given through inbreeding?

Is Reylo a thing?

Is Reyke a thing?

Is LuLo a thing

am i gonna see some sex

Okay read everything, not my cup of tea. On the upside I can skip this in cinema.

Is the flying in space Leia scene as dumb as people make it out to be?
