Got a Hyperspace Trial this weekend. I haven't played at all since January (when I won an OP event with a Jendon-Lambda and two Defenders) and still am not caught up on all the new stuff introduced in the last two waves. Truth be told I'm still just not all that happy with 2.0 and a lot of the changes and new design decisions. But one of the locals, a guy who normally is the one setting up events, was telling me I should go and there does need to be more a local presence at these bigger events (can't keep having the dudes from SlingPaint coming from out-of-state and winning the Store Championships every year). Plus the $25 registration gets me a Curled Paw sampler set of tokens (a few things like som charge and strain tokens), a 3D-printed damage deck box, a faction-specific damage deck (mine will be an Imperial-themed damage deck), some custom alt-arts, and entry for a bunch of door prizes and stuff, in addition to whatever I win (probably just whatever the top 32 card is; I don't expect to do all that well).
I posted elsewhere about plans to take Vader, Fel, and two Bombers with Barrage Rockets. I mentioned some things I thought about besides the Bombers and one of them was Stele. I got some high-recommendations for running Vader, Fel, and Stele, so that's what I'm probably going to run with a large bid. I'm pretty comfortable with 3 Ace lists and have never flown Bombers or used Barrage Rockets, and I don't particularly like flying a mix of high-PS Aces with low-PS Generics because I get in my own way and screw things up, so it's about 99% likelihood right now that I'm going with that list. Still trying to pin down exactly what upgrades I want though. I received some recs but I don't have Hate yet and don't know if want to buy a Sith Infiltrator before the event or not. If I don't, I received some backup recommendations too. I might just buy the Infiltrator though, because a combo of $3 in eBay Bucks and a $3 off promo convinced me to buy a cheap Servants of Strife box on eBay a few nights ago (won't get here until next week though) so I've bought into the Seperatist faction now. I wish it was going to be here by the weekend so I could have Gas Cloud obstacles. I bet Afterburners Vader with full force would love Gas Clouds for defense.
The list as it is without subbing Hate out is the same as Woorloog posted above only without Afterburners on Fel and without Prockets on Stele.
Darth Vader (65)
Hate (3)
Fire-Control System (2)
Afterburners (6)
Soontir Fel (52)
Predator (2)
Maarek Stele (46)
Marksmanship (1)
Fire-Control System (2)
Afterburners (6)
Total: 185
It was recommended to me that if I don't want to buy something to get a copy of Hate in time for the event, that I could add a Shield Upgrade to Fel and be at a 10pt bid instead of 15. The recommendations came from a guy who said that list and a similar one were flown at his most-recent Hyperspace Trial and were in the finals. The winner apparently had the same list except had Crackshot on Fel instead of Predator so their bid was a point higher. All of that makes the list sound pretty good, though it'll come down to how I fly it. I wasn't specifically setting out to get a netlist; I figured when starting out that if I flew Imperial that Vader would be a must and I would like to fly Fel if possible. Bombers with Barrage seemed like punchy wingmen who could probably survive at least a round with that 6 Hull and get some Rockets off, but this list with Stele sounds like it is something I can handle and is pretty similar to stuff I flew in 1.0 (flew a lot of Interceptors and Advanceds).
I'll probably post an update Saturday night about how I do. I almost want to say "If you don't see me post then assume I did horribly" but I think I posted an update after last year's Store Championship where I did just awful and had a terrible showing, so I'll still post about it. Looking to be a lot of people at the event; word last night was that we cracked 40 people registered, so I think that's more than the recent Trial hosted in MN at FFG. We've got some good locals and then there will surely be some great out-of-towners coming down (some of the Carolina Krayts and I imagine some SlingPaint dudes, as well as some Georgia players), so it's going to be tough competition. I just hope I do better than last year's Store Championship, and I hope I'm not on stream at any point (even if I am somehow doing well, I'm not too keen on the idea of any of my matches being streamed out).
