Did it perhaps break off and get stuck on the peg? Had that happen once.

I thought that might have been it, but it's not in my little baggy of pegs. Luckily I have tons more, and I could easily rig something up if I wanted to use it, but it' still kind of a bummer because I'm very careful with my stuff usually. I did put in a request with Asmodee so we'll see what they say.

In your case, did you just superglue it back in?

Thanks! This looks perfect.

On an unrelated note, I had my first ship casualty the other day. Original TIE from the original core set lost its peg insert piece and I have no idea where it is. I know it's inevitable but still kinda sad.
Contact FFG via their website. Take a picture, upload it via their template, and they outright send you a new ship free of charge. Two to three weeks later, you'll have your new one. I have used that system twice when the pegs broke, and I have a couple more requests in waiting. Highly commendable of them.

Edit - I see you've already done this! If you do find the peg, a good super glue is literally all you need.

It's really good to know that they take care of their customers. Maybe I'll make a Christmas ornament out of the broken one.

Points for Republic and Separatists are up. Also, they have added extra ships for all the "classic" factions on Hyperspace format (TIE Interceptor and Bomber, Starviper, A/B-wing...).

I was really leaning towards Separatists, but these last couple weeks I've been more tempted with Republic. No idea what I will do (if Firesprays were announced on Separatists I wouldn't have any doubt :P). Still trying to comprehend the uselfullness of the V-19 tho, seems to me like a Z-95 with extra health/actions and a gazillion more reds on the dial.

Today was the first Hyperspace of my area, a 64 player tournament without any of the two new factions as we had to send the list a week ago. I was torn between quad Fangs (Fenn and three Zealots) and my usual double Firespray (Boba-Emon), but after some tests and a coin-toss, I went with the Firesprays, and with a vengeance.

4-2 at the end, with the two lost games both decided by not being capable to roll a figure on a single die (one in attack, while on the other game was in defense), even with Boba's reroll on both of them (plus focus). Anyways, I had a blast, playing against some of what I consider the best players around here and finishing with a bang (200-0) to secure the 12th spot and some cool stuff. Sadly, the cut was on the top 8 :(

Surprisingly, I didn't face any Leia list. Nor Rebel, for what it matters. 5 Strikers + Wampa. The Tavson-Quickdraw-Scorch-Muse from above. A Boba-Kohska-Lando on Pendrive from a club's friend. Poe and the three "big" A-wings. Han-Fenn-Teroch. And Vader-Howl-Iden-2x Academy. But Rebels? Nada. Not that I'm complaining :P

Damn, no Rebels in sight? Sounds like a time of strife and oppression. Impressive results at the tournament! My largest tournament had to be about 16 people. I did manage to casually play the Two Tubes brothers recently and was really impressed at how fun it was!

OK, after a long, long break, got a game in.
Squads:
Me: https://raithos.github.io/?f=Galact...,69,,:;182:,:;182:,:&sn=Unnamed Squadron&obs=
My friend: https://raithos.github.io/?f=Galact...:;222:123,:;200:,,,:&sn=Unnamed Squadron&obs=

I won, destroyed two TIEs, damaged a couple of others, took little damage so my friend conceded. Though in retrospect that was rather inevitable probably, bombs and torpedoes are good vs high agility targets. My friend also managed to get the Phantom into a bad place quickly, which didn't help any. (Nor does that i've played X-wing more and this was my friends maybe third or fourth X-wing 2.0 game.) Also i wonder if we made one or two mistakes with certain abilities in retrospect, but oh well, c'est la vie, especially after a long break.

I do wonder if the Inferno Squad could use with cost reduction. Not bad abilities but they're only TIEs.

Also the game generated one question regarding decloaking.
Can a ship use decloak when they start their turn on top of an obstacle? If it can decloak, can it decloak in any direction or only those free of the obstacle?

Anyway, next time, my friend's gonna need a tougher squad. His favorite ships are the TIE Phantom and TIE Defenders, so something 2xTIE/D and 1xTIE/ph would be ideal for him. Any ideas? (Not gonna design a squad to counter that one specifically, i'll just come up with something weird but interesting for the Rebels since i want to play them for a change.)

Also hoping Wave 4 would come out fast, i could get to building the Separatists and Republic. And still need to sell my Scum, FO and Resistance...

On a Defender/Phantom list, seeing he has already used Echo, I would go this way:

Delta Squadron Pilot — TIE/D Defender 70
-Fire-Control System 2
Ship Total: 72 Half Points: 36 Threshold: 4

Delta Squadron Pilot — TIE/D Defender 70
-Fire-Control System 2
Ship Total: 72 Half Points: 36 Threshold: 4

"Echo" — TIE/ph Phantom 50
-Collision Detector 6
Ship Total: 56Half Points: 28 Threshold: 3

For 200 points. Decent action economy on the Defenders (you probably want to Lock in the turn you'll make the Koi), and Echo with Collision is absurdly fun, the options it opens is insane.

Can a ship use decloak when they start their turn on top of an obstacle? If it can decloak, can it decloak in any direction or only those free of the obstacle?

Yes, but using the regular barrel roll/boost rules. Which basically means the template (or the ship itself after the movement) can't overlap the obstacle. But if there's a free way out, there's no problem on doing it.

In other news, I've played my first Republic games today. Crushed Separatists in a couple games and got totally destroyed by a TIE swarm withot even shooting down a TIE. The Jedi starfighters are as fun as good, but you really need to watch out on using too much Force. The ARCs seems alright (not that I've tested many of them), and I'm quite surprised on the V-19, at least on low numbers. They are quite better than I expected.

It's killing me inside to be two waves behind. I haven't started my new job yet so I'm holding off until then. But MAN, once I get those paychecks, I'm adding grabbing another glass IKEA shelf to make room!

Ended up ordering Separatists and Republic. One "core set" each, a Sith Infiltrator, a Delta-7, two Vulture droids and two ARC-170s.
The silly thing here is that i ordered from Germany (fantasyvelt.de to be specific), because it is considerably cheaper even with shipping than buying locally.

Gonna get two of the Hyenas and Naboo fighters each once they're available... shit, my collection is gonna get bigger very quickly.
Doesn't help there's gonna be so many cool ships in the future.

On a Defender/Phantom list, seeing he has already used Echo, I would go this way:
Proposed that to him, he liked it though he figured he might want something else than Echo. Understandable, since banked barrel rolls are tricky to use properly.
Suppose dropping the FCS and having Whisper with Juke might work. Or maybe a Sigma Ace with some stuff or Fifth Brother.

Speaking of the Inquisitors, i'm toying with an idea i call "Inquisitor party bus". A Decimator with Grand Inquisitor, Seventh Sister and Fifth Brother, and two TIE Adv. Prototypes with generic Inquisitor pilots.
Not sure how to fill things though, those things cost 180 total already.
Probably need to wait until i get my new ships to equip the Inquisitors with Predictive Shots, since i'm thinking that might work for the TIEs.
I'm skeptical if there's any point to this but i do like building themed lists over actually smart lists. That said, it might be just fine to drop the TIEs and replace them with other support ships, the main Inquisitor party bus would still be the core of the list after all.

EDIT I can't actually recall the last time i used the Decimator. Honestly never was a fan of that ship, got it mostly because of the stuff it contained for the first edition. But it can seat two crew and a gunner so it works for this idea...

Similar thing happened to me. Ended up getting the Servants of Strife pack from ebay and the seller was a shop in Poland (I'm in the UK), ended up saving a few buck even with the shipping factored in. Having my first Separatists game this Wednesday and I think I am against a Republic player so it should hopefully be quite a clash.

Cannon or ordnance Assault Gunboats, which ones are more popular at the moment? (Google is unhelpful, it likes to give 1.0 results and limiting searches by time gives me nonsense results.)

Torpedo Gunboats worked fine for me in the last game for sure, but i can't help but wonder if TIE Bombers with torpedoes would be about as good. Cheaper, a bit weaker perhaps, but more mobile outside of SLAM. Getting locks with low initiative pilots is an issue naturally, but i'm not too worried about that.
Cannon Gunboats are versatile especially if loaded with missiles or torpedoes as well, but they can't do everything at once, and ion cannon boats have limited damage output and ionization is not guaranteed. Though i suppose the threat of ionization is valuable in itself. Do HLCs work for Gunboats or are they let down by the lack of barrel roll?

Also speaking of cannons, do tractor beams currently find use in Gunboats or TIE Defenders (or B-wings)? Trading attack for tractoring something feels weak, even if it does improve chances for other ships to hit the target. How i miss the 1.0's TIE/D title allowing dual attacks!

Torpedo Gunboats are probably the most popular, but I don't like them when it comes to generics. Yeah, they have a huge punch, but they still are low IN and have problems to lock many targets. For them, I largely prefer the Ion Cannon/Advanced Proton Torpedoes combo, as it gives you the best of both worlds: control and a big hammer that's easier to use once a ion enters. Their main problem is the lack of ion realiability as you need at least two uncancelled hits, but that's usually solved bringing several of them :P. If I had to bring only one Gunboat, I would probably go with Vynder full ordnance, as it has a decent IN.

I find HLC quite crap. The bullseye arc isn't easy to get on a ship without barrell roll unless you go on formation, something I don't like to do with GUNs, and if you SLAM the XG-1 title fucks the fourth dice, so the Ion cannon becomes a much better deal at the end.

Tractors... right now I only like them on IG's, due the extra free shot if you miss the first attack. I wouldn't mind to add a Tractor here and there on many lists as there are very situational moments where it could be great to have one, but I usually don't have any spare points on the lists where I can fit them.

What an interesting if long game (we don't play with time limit) against my brother.

My brother's squad: https://raithos.github.io/?f=Rebel ...44,107,,156:;57:98,:&sn=Unnamed Squadron&obs=
Mine: https://raithos.github.io/?f=Galact...9::;229::;179:117,,:&sn=Unnamed Squadron&obs=

Started badly for me, bad flying, TIEs got stuck to each other. My brother got one good torpedo through, though it used both charges and he never got a chance to reload. The rockets and the cluster missiles also did good damage, the former killing a TIE and the latter weakening many ships. Was going kind of badly for me for a long while, since i had weak positions and a lot of damaged ships, but then the stress caused by a couple of kills started weakening my brother's squad and i got my other ships into good positions, along with incredibly lucky Soontir Fel getting four hits on Horton Salm with zero evades. Finally, the Headhunter got bad crit, got ionized from Disabled Power Regulator and would've flown from the play area though my brother conceded because i had clear material and firepower advantage.

Surprisingly even game all in all.

The Headhunter especially surprised both of us, it had way more effect on the game than one might expect from its statline and cost, i should've killed it when i got an opportunity but i went after more important targets.
Love Soontir Fel with Daredevil. The one extra movement option it opens up is surprisingly useful and valuable.
Sloane in the Lambda shuttle and a TIE swarm is quite interesting combination. The reroll ability is a bit less valuable with normal TIEs, but double-stress punishment for kills is rather useful.
The Dorsal Turret is very much worth it for an ordnance Y-wing. Just set it either side or rear and it gives very useful cover. Caused some problems for Soontir Fel certainly.
Lando is pretty hilarious. Random, never know what it is gonna be but its rare it won't be of some use at least. Probably my brother's favorite upgrade, he liked that in 1.0 as well (we call it "Lando's casino").

Probably should play with time limit though, since that affects tactics and goals. Then again the game's also a reason to talk about random stuff while at it so not sure time limit would really work.

Oh, a TIE Bomber question. Do people use them as bombers? Wonder because i quite like them with Skilled Bombardiers, so versatile bomb placement on a cheap platform.
Or are they flown mostly as ordnance carriers? If so, what ordnance, still Barrage Rockets?

Not as their primary role, at least. Sometimes you may see a Proton bomb, or Seismic, or a Proximity mine here and there, but mostly as a "let's spend points in something".

Barrage are usually their go-to ordnance, as it's the easiest to use. To realiably use Proton Torpedoes or any other *Lock:* ordnance you probably would need to fit Jendon on the list, and it's not exactly cheap.

Had my first game as Separatists games yesterday and went swimmingly well. Won both of them against a Republic and second Separatist list. My list was:

Darth Maul (65)
Hate (3)
Perceptive Copilot (8)

General Grievous (47)
Daredevil (3)
Impervium Plating (6)
Soulless One (10)

Haor Chall Prototype (23)
Energy-Shell Charges (4)

Haor Chall Prototype (23)
Energy-Shell Charges (4)

Some initial thoughts:
- Grievous with Daredevil is not vital but very funny and does add to his mobility a fair bit. He is surprisingly mobile by himself though, his dial is okay but the barrel roll/boost > red focus is a very handy set of actions. I found it not that tough to flank and get behind my opponents. Imperium Plating is a weird one, you can go entire games and it does nothing or it can save your ship, pointwise it is probably worth it. The Soulless title is excellent, very handy.
- Maul with Hate is INSANE. The damage output of your ship is nightmarish if people keep focus firing on you. I wouldn't be surprised if that upgrade gets a bit of a point increase soon (perhaps one depending on how much health the bearer has. I don't think I flew Maul that well, I kept going for the range 1 shot which was good for the extra dice but sorta made his ability tough to activate. If I flew him in future I might try to keep the foes at range 2-3, maximise the number in your firing arc and use the (frankly bananas) speed 5 K-turn whenever things get hairy. For a big ship the Infiltrator has a real good blue dial, certainly worth not being scared of abusing the k-turn now and then.
- The Vultures are a lot of fun. In the past I've not run swarms well so I was a little worried about flying them but their very zero and ones dial seems to work with my zero and ones brain. They are very easy to fly in formation as long as you basically ignore that they can bank, and with the barrel roll and blues on the dial they are evasive in a way that is different then most other evasion ships, tricky to pin down. If your enemy really hates them and just focus fires them down then their is not a lot you can do about it, but if you can keep them alive for a turn or two while enduring fire then they've sorta made their points back. Energy-Shells are fab, lovely way to increase firepower and honestly very respectable damage output even if you have to keep reloading them every off turn. My second game was against Anakin and one of my Vultures out damaged him over the course of the game (and Anakin is a 60 point ship). The semi-unique Haor Chall Prototype Vultures are okay but honestly it is tough to bullseye people with their flying style, in the future I would probably just go with the cheaper Trade Fed Drone or the Separatists Drone for the bonus initiative.

Overall, loving the faction. Bit worried I would bounce off them quickly but they seem like a lot of fun and with the Hyena out next their is a lot of potential for some weird droid swarm builds.

I think i'll go play tomorrow. Gives me an opportunity to ask if someone would be interested in buying my FO, Resistance or Scum ships i got.
Taking this. Probably not particularly smart, low initiative hurts it, but i'm uncertain about playing with the Rebels in general so i'll go for something that offers me options without relying on synergies.

We took another route today :P :

CH405TU.jpg

A couple guys on the club wanted to try Armada, so we brought the ships out. I may play a game of this each 3-4 months, but each time is a blast, especially as we don't even try to create *good* lists, we just choose whatever Admiral/ships/squadrons/upgrades we feel that day.

Naturally, my list didn't work at all. Doesn't help i forget stuff, like flipping s-foils, i play so much more Empire.
Gonna go play next week too. Think there were 6 or 7 tables up when i was leaving, so finding a game shouldn't be a problem at a ll.
Got some advice too, like Braylen-Cassian combo, never had thought about that!

So, i started thinking about using Braylen and Cassian, and since i want to fly the E-wing sometime, this is what i've come up with so far:
Gavin Darklighter (61)
Fire-Control System (2)
Proton Torpedoes (12)
R4 Astromech (2)

Braylen Stramm (47)
Advanced Sensors (10)

Cassian Andor (47)
Leia Organa (2)
Pivot Wing (0)

Total: 183

View in Yet Another Squad Builder 2.0
Needs filling out, ideas? Throwing away Advanced Sensors would allow for a filler Headhunter, wonder if that'd be useful.

Another idea i'm working on is bazed on Baze Malbus (no typo there!). Perceptive Copilot is better in most cases, but in theory Baze has potentially interesting synergy with Esege Tuketu. Triple-Focus fountain, what's not to like? The bad thing here is that actually triggering Baze is difficult, though at least he should work with Advanced SLAM, so one could SLAM into range 1 to trigger Baze's extra Focus generation. Considered Barrage Rockets for Esege Tuketu BUT he can't use them at range 1, so i figured that whatever, he can do without.
Came up with this so far.
Esege Tuketu (47)
Baze Malbus (3)
Advanced SLAM (3)

Red Squadron Veteran (43)
Predator (2)
Servomotor S-Foils (0)

Predator (2)
Servomotor S-Foils (0)

Total: 143

Thinking of fitting a named pilot here. Biggs might be an option, heck, could slap Selfless for both X-wings as it is.

I am inclined to try to concept, even if it may be difficult to utilize. If it doesn't work out... well, i can always tweak the list to utilize Perceptive Copilot and Barrage rockets.

The Z could serve as a blocker, but I'm not sure if he would live long enough to be worth. I would keep the Sensors and add some extra toys here and there, like Elusive on Braylenn and maybe Intimidation on Cassian with an extra Crewman or something like Tactical Scramble.

For the second list, consider Garven Dreis. He along Tuketu makes for an hilarious combo. A bit ago I flew a Esege-Shara Bey-Garven (in ARC, WINGSPAN EVERYWHERE) list that I loved. although I can't remember the specifics. Sadly, it was before Leia was cheap, would have been great there.

Would Intimidation plus Zeb make any sense? Alternatively, Advanced Sensors and Tactical Officer might work (for coordinating at any time), though this would preclude Elusive from Braylenn, though i suppose just about any cheaper talent can work just fine. Probably shouldn't think too hard about talents, just regard them as something extra i might benefit from.
Elusive on Braylenn seems weird, since his ability works on defense as well, i assume the idea is that you can use Elusive when you aren't stressed?

For the second list, consider Garven Dreis. He along Tuketu makes for an hilarious combo.
Wait, so, Dreis uses a Focus from Tuketu... and passes it to someone else, like back to Tuketu? Thats... kinda evil lol.
Could easily replace Baze if i can't get him to work with Perceptive Copilot with this and not lose much, definitively interesting. Just need to figure out what else to use points for, guess Predator for all X-wings would be OK investment. If going for Perceptive Copilot, then Barrage Rockets for Tuketu, drop talents from the generic X-wings.

Yeah i think i'm gonna be using both lists, seem interesting enough.
Now to think of future and plan something that doesn't rely on X-wings or other already-used ships for the Rebels, need something different... So many ships i've yet to try properly.

Oh shit, I didn't remember it works on defense too XD. Yeah, Elusive would be a bad idea in this case :P

I've forgotten all first edition pilots already, more or less. Kind of a good thing i suppose.
Just need to get rid of thinking that upgrades should be used! I tend to build lists with heavy on upgrades for no good reason.

Ah, shit.
So, i played my KXXX list against my brother, who used this.
Begins well enough for me, i get triple Focus for Esege and make reasonable use of that, though that cost me stress and weapons disabled (and that inability fire in the first combat may have cost me the game in the long run). Unfortunately, i only got the combo off once later on, and it didn't do anything useful then. Meanwhile, Deadfire bombed the shit out of my ships. I did kill Deadfire, but his revenge proton bomb killed Garven. Garven took massive amount because the crit was a direct hit and caused a chain reaction combined with hull breach, fuel leak...
Indeed, every single of my ships died in a massive chain reaction because my brother got some damn lucky hits. He flew well near the end, the Academy pilot did an excellent block and Soontir picked good moves.

I do think my KXXX list has promise though. Just need to fly carefully, and drop a couple of Predators to upgrade Baze to Perceptive Copilot.

Fun game though. And X-wings are indeed pretty good without any upgrades. Lean is good in second edition.

Unless there's something extra (an ep9 ship i.e.), this may be a no-buy wave for me. The only one I see buying is the Republic Y if there's some hability I like, but it wouldn't be more than one.

The Separatist ship is hilarious, tho. Only bullseye arc plus a turret that can't be rotated backwards *and* the only way to rotate it is to gain a tractor (!) tocken. It gives it some great economy action, as you also can boost or barrell roll with that tractor (and then your regular action).

EDIT Duh, it seems the article states it does come with Maul.
OK, so yeah, i'll be buying that one, eventually but certainly.

That Republic Y-Wing makes me wonder if we'll be getting Clone Z-95s
Of course. And just like this BTL-B isn't identical to the BTL-A4 Y-wing, the Clone Z-95 won't be identical to the Z-95AF4.

Also, consider what kind of ships the Republic probably will be getting or already has:
V-wing: Arc-dodger, swarmer.
Eta-2 Actis Jedi fighter: arc dodger, ace ship
LAAT: heavy gunship
Eta-, Theta-, Nu-class shuttles: support ships.
V-19 Torrent: swarmer, filler, light jouster(?)
ARC-170: Heavy jouster
Aethersprite: arc dodger, ace ship
Naboo fighter: arc dodger

What is missing from the list is a low-medium cost line fighter, a medium jouster akin to T-65 or T-70 X-wings. And that's where the Clone Headhunter fits in perfectly, as it is upgraded and larger version of the normal Headhunter (also carrier torpedoes rather than missiles).

Figure 3-2-3-3 (or 3-2-3-2) stat line with slightly better dial than standard Headhunter is a possibility. 3 attack because the Republic already has a filler with just 2 attack, though then again 2 attack and kind of focus to using torpedoes might be possible.

EDIT
I really hope the Empire eventually gets the TIE/rb (Heavy TIE, TIE Infiltrator, TIE Brute) from Solo, and TIE Avenger from old expanded universe. The latter fits neatly in place of the TIE Silencer now that the Empire has no longer access to it. The former could be a cannon or bullseye focused ship, something the Empire doesn't really have.
Still no idea what the hell to give to the Rebels, unless you start mining the old games for ships... like T-wing? Probably not. Though i suppose we might see something interesting in The Mandalorian.

OK, there's English article now.
https://www.fantasyflightgames.com/en/news/2019/4/13/the-fate-of-the-galaxy/

Interesting stuff:
Targeting Computer upgrade in Nantex-class fighter.

Both Y-wings and Nantexs come with Snap Shot talent. (Typoed that at first as "Snap Snot" lol)
Looks like front arc attack 2, range 2 only, ordnance icon (presumably to shield against edge cases?).

Judging from the template, the Y-wing comes with Electro-Proton Bomb. Also has C-3PO card, which makes me think there's gonna be R2-D2 pilot, based on one TCW episode, if so, C-3PO is probably crew, and R2-D2 has unique slots with crew slot and no astromech slot.
Also, as i predicted somewhere, Ahsoka Tano gunner, which is only natural since Anakin is one Y-wing pilot.

TIE Advanced v1 comes with Afterburners, amusingly enough despite being unable to equip it. Also has Hate and Predictive Shot.

Going to play tomorrow. Last week, i had utterly stupid list. This time, i'll take an Empire list with me.
This is the list:
Major Vynder (39)
Fire-Control System (2)
Advanced SLAM (3)
Os-1 Arsenal Loadout (0)
Proton Torpedoes (12)

Rexler Brath (82)
Juke (5)
Fire-Control System (2)
Jamming Beam (0)

Soontir Fel (52)
Predator (2)
Total: 199

View in Yet Another Squad Builder 2.0
Picked three smaller asteroids as obstacles.
The Jamming Beam won't see any use, its there just because it costs 0 points.
I wish i could fit APTs for Vynder, my brother used dual torpedoes well last time we played, and another thing i'd like is Afterburners for Soontir, but can't have everything :/

I do wonder if i should ditch Brath's FCS? Would enable 3 point bid, which isn't much but could be just enough? And, the TIE/D will be spending most of its time either repositioning or focusing when moving fast, when not, i suppose evade is natural pick.

FCS is good on Rexler (or any Defender :P), especially against lists of not many ships (or with a ship with a large health pool). It saves some actions on the long run.

A 4 point bid would be nice too, tho. It probably has much more value than that FCS as you have a 6 and a 5 (and the third is a respectable 4) with good repositioning, but I'm not sure how are the bids there. From my experience on my area, you either go at low 190s or you are better spending all the points you can xD, but that may be different on yours.

I have little idea what kind of bids people here do. Last week was the first time in that one place.
My opponent last week had full squad, but i didn't realize to ask folks on other tables details about their squads.

Think i'll go with the FCS.

Also with luck, my Seps and Reps come tomorrow.
However, i have already figured that i need another Guardians of the Republic and Servants of Strife, plus possibly another Vulture in Trade Federation's colors... I want more Torrents and third Jedi Starfighter (so that i can run 2x red ones when not flying Anakin), and 4xSeparatist Vultures is important too.

Or how likely it is we'll see red Aethersprite or Separatist Vultures sold separately?

Well, my list was fun, pity my opponent was possibly one of the worst things to fight against, or perhaps i made some wrong choices.
Of course, forgetting to use Brath's pilot ability was a massive mistake!
My opponent flew this:
https://raithos.github.io/?f=Scum and Villainy&d=v6!s=200!130:127,,98,,,:;136:116,,170:U.98;136:116,,170:U.98;158:127,98,,:;158:127,98,,:&sn=Unnamed Squadron&obs=

I managed to kill exactly 89 points worth of ships, ie what my Defender cost, and lost Vynder and the Defender, though it helped my Vynder had triple stress at one point and was basically crippled. I was winning until the very end, when the Scyks let loose cluster missile storms, and i didn't have enough defenses to fend them off.

Good game all in all.

Also it seems locals prefer full lists over bidding but that's not 100% certainty, one guy had 3 point bid in his game.

And my new ships arrived!
Now to investigate everything's in order.
EDIT Everything seems fine, hopefully there's no missing parts...

Unpacking the ships... man, got three twisted pegs already. Warming them up in my fingers and twisting a bit straightens them out but probably compromises their integrity. Hopefully there will be extra bases and pegs soon (all sizes), gonna need spares.

Darth Vader (65)
Hate (3)
Fire-Control System (2)
Afterburners (6)

Maarek Stele (46)
Marksmanship (1)
Fire-Control System (2)
Proton Rockets (7)
Afterburners (6)

Soontir Fel (52)
Predator (2)
Afterburners (6)

Total: 198

I *love* that list. Not sure on the Afterburners on Soontir tho, I think I may prefer giving him some extra health (Shields?) as his ship is already stupidly mobile. Although in that case you would go at 200 points unless you decide to drop something... and the only dispensable thing I see is the Proton Rockets.

And the pegs issue is kinda weird, never seen a problem with them (besides the "this peg won't hold that ship" issue, it's a nightmare when you mix up some of them). Well, and the pegs getting loose from the large bases at random times when moving the ship. Oh my, how I hate that. I ended magnetizing that union in the larg ships I used the most (Firesprays and Lancer).

There was a case when i wished i could boost after red maneuver in my last game due to missing out bullseye arc, and the ABs allow that, so... Plus, this will allow for a triple action if necessary (eg Boost, Evade->Barrel Roll), and theoretically can yield Focus (and Predator bonus) to boot. Insane, and maybe unnecessary, but i think it will be handy.

Prockets are not dispensable, they're Maarek's Stele's weapon of choice! Or at least they were while i was playing Star Wars: TIE Fighter, figured i'll honor the tradition if nothing else.

I have way too many lists waiting to be played. About 10 Empire lists (i forget which ones i've tried already), 4 Rebel lists, 5 Separatist lists, and 5 or 6 Republic lists...
And i'm working on a fifth Rebel list but i can't really play that without getting another X-wing with Saw's paint job.

Haven't played or bought anything since before 2nd edition hit.
If I wanted to get back into it and still had all my ships, I should be good just picking up the conversion kits, right?
Anything of necessity in the 2nd edition starter kit?

You'll want the core set because it contains new templates which include the middle line (for barrel roll and tallon roll, plus few things that allow 90 degree turn), though you could just get a third party template set. Also it contains some useful Force upgrades, something the Empire, Rebel or Scum conversion kits don't include. And Afterburners, highly useful card that isn't in the conversion kits. Plus some pilots (eg Luke Skywalker) that aren't in the conversion kit.

EDIT If you play Scum, this isn't naturally nearly as important as long as you get templates with middle lines from somewhere, they've got only one Force user at the moment.

EDIT2 In case you play the Empire or Rebels, remember the Resistance and First Order are now their own separate factions with their own conversion kits.

The only thing you *really* need from the Core Set is the new Damage Deck. And, if you are Imperial or Rebel (or want to use certain Force powers), the pilot/upgrade cards included on them in case you want to go to events where you can't proxy them. Everything else is either new versions of things you already have (tokens, excluding Force/Energy which can always be proxied) or just a convenient tool (the new templates with the centerline for Barrell/Talon rolls and collisions (and you can always do it by eye or just using the one you opponent may have for those moments).

So if you are a Scum/Resistance/First Order player, you are probably good by buying the kits you may need and just grab the Damage Deck from some website or Ebay. For Rebels or Empire... yup, the Core set may be interesting.

Forgot the damage deck... every damn time. I don't get it. I mean, when setting up a game and so, of course i remember it. But outside the game... always, i simply don't recall the whole thing exists!

Thanks guys.
Mainly flew Rebels back when I played but collected both Rebels and Imperials so I could play at home with friends.

Will probably grab the Core Set then in addition to the conversion kits when I decide to get back into the game.
Getting ready to sell my house and move so everything is all packed up, but was looking to get back into playing post-move.

Got a Hyperspace Trial this weekend. I haven't played at all since January (when I won an OP event with a Jendon-Lambda and two Defenders) and still am not caught up on all the new stuff introduced in the last two waves. Truth be told I'm still just not all that happy with 2.0 and a lot of the changes and new design decisions. But one of the locals, a guy who normally is the one setting up events, was telling me I should go and there does need to be more a local presence at these bigger events (can't keep having the dudes from SlingPaint coming from out-of-state and winning the Store Championships every year). Plus the $25 registration gets me a Curled Paw sampler set of tokens (a few things like som charge and strain tokens), a 3D-printed damage deck box, a faction-specific damage deck (mine will be an Imperial-themed damage deck), some custom alt-arts, and entry for a bunch of door prizes and stuff, in addition to whatever I win (probably just whatever the top 32 card is; I don't expect to do all that well).

I posted elsewhere about plans to take Vader, Fel, and two Bombers with Barrage Rockets. I mentioned some things I thought about besides the Bombers and one of them was Stele. I got some high-recommendations for running Vader, Fel, and Stele, so that's what I'm probably going to run with a large bid. I'm pretty comfortable with 3 Ace lists and have never flown Bombers or used Barrage Rockets, and I don't particularly like flying a mix of high-PS Aces with low-PS Generics because I get in my own way and screw things up, so it's about 99% likelihood right now that I'm going with that list. Still trying to pin down exactly what upgrades I want though. I received some recs but I don't have Hate yet and don't know if want to buy a Sith Infiltrator before the event or not. If I don't, I received some backup recommendations too. I might just buy the Infiltrator though, because a combo of $3 in eBay Bucks and a $3 off promo convinced me to buy a cheap Servants of Strife box on eBay a few nights ago (won't get here until next week though) so I've bought into the Seperatist faction now. I wish it was going to be here by the weekend so I could have Gas Cloud obstacles. I bet Afterburners Vader with full force would love Gas Clouds for defense.

The list as it is without subbing Hate out is the same as Woorloog posted above only without Afterburners on Fel and without Prockets on Stele.
Darth Vader (65)
Hate (3)
Fire-Control System (2)
Afterburners (6)

Soontir Fel (52)
Predator (2)

Maarek Stele (46)
Marksmanship (1)
Fire-Control System (2)
Afterburners (6)
Total: 185

It was recommended to me that if I don't want to buy something to get a copy of Hate in time for the event, that I could add a Shield Upgrade to Fel and be at a 10pt bid instead of 15. The recommendations came from a guy who said that list and a similar one were flown at his most-recent Hyperspace Trial and were in the finals. The winner apparently had the same list except had Crackshot on Fel instead of Predator so their bid was a point higher. All of that makes the list sound pretty good, though it'll come down to how I fly it. I wasn't specifically setting out to get a netlist; I figured when starting out that if I flew Imperial that Vader would be a must and I would like to fly Fel if possible. Bombers with Barrage seemed like punchy wingmen who could probably survive at least a round with that 6 Hull and get some Rockets off, but this list with Stele sounds like it is something I can handle and is pretty similar to stuff I flew in 1.0 (flew a lot of Interceptors and Advanceds).

I'll probably post an update Saturday night about how I do. I almost want to say "If you don't see me post then assume I did horribly" but I think I posted an update after last year's Store Championship where I did just awful and had a terrible showing, so I'll still post about it. Looking to be a lot of people at the event; word last night was that we cracked 40 people registered, so I think that's more than the recent Trial hosted in MN at FFG. We've got some good locals and then there will surely be some great out-of-towners coming down (some of the Carolina Krayts and I imagine some SlingPaint dudes, as well as some Georgia players), so it's going to be tough competition. I just hope I do better than last year's Store Championship, and I hope I'm not on stream at any point (even if I am somehow doing well, I'm not too keen on the idea of any of my matches being streamed out).

I would go the Shield Upgrade route. Best case scenario is neither of Vader or Soontir get actually shot, but if (when) that happens you will probably need more that Shield than Hate, which is a *great* card but I see more as a luxury for Vader than a must have like FCS or Afterburners. Or maybe do a "fuck this" and just take both, Shield and Hate :P. There's nobody that may lend you the card for the tournament?

I actually wanted to fly that list (with both, Shield and Hate) yesterday, as a friend wanted me to act as sparring for a Hyperspace he will attend this weekend, and toying from a Vader-Soontir core it felt almost natural to reach that Maarek build. Problem is I didn't remember I only have one Advanced, so I switched Maarek for a Predator/Shield/Proximity Mine Duchess. And I LOVED it. Really, really fun list, although I think the Maarek version would be better; I'm not used to fly Strikers :P

I found someone that will lend me a Hate card so I'm on top of that now.
I feel like whichever one I go for, Hate or Shield Upgrade, I regret not taking the other. I could mis-position Fel in a hot spot and see him that three Hull get burned down fast, but then again going with the list as it is with Hate in there gives me a nice 15pt bid. I don't imagine I'll bump into many people with huge bids but six rounds before the cut is a lot of games and there are bound to be at least a few others who want to go second. I think that bid could wind up being really important, so I kind of want to keep it. Still have a few hours before I upload my list so maybe I'll change my mind after some more thought on it.

EDIT: What I'd love to do is put both Shield Upgrade AND Afterburners on Fel, but that would put me at 200pts even, 197 if I dropped Hate. With this kind of list, that kind of bid isn't good enough.
