Had my first tournament this weekend, the Dutch nationals. Holy shit what an experience! Only ever played with my friends with my own stuff, all rebel and empire. 5 of my 6 matches were against Scum, so I learned a lot during the day :D Managed to win one game of the 6, mostly because my opponent drew 3 Direct Hit crits, most unlucky dude of the day I think.... 2 matches were close call, 1 against a Crack Swarm (the guy made a promise last year) and against Boba+Kath. Other games were huge losses, man there are some cool synergies with Scum pilots and the right upgrades. Overall a very positve experience, learned a lot, eveyrone was friendly, helpful and complete gentlemen. They even reminded me to use my own abilities and upgrade cards, great sportsmanship. Overall I ended up 65 out of 72, but I had a lot of fun :)

For the next few months I'm going to try to visit my LFGS more often and try to play some casual games against other people, and just have fun and experiment with different lists. Still much to learn!

I've been thinking about buying another large rebel ship. Right now I only have the original falcon, and I've been looking at the Outrider and the Ghost. Anyone have any experience with either?

The outrider has some very nice mod cards that i'm missing (lone wolf, lando) that would fit nicely in with what i already own. Its also cheap enough that i could potentially fly it with the falcon. While the ghost seems like a fun ship, but it doesn't bring much more then some nice crew cards, and the lack of any agility seems like a big issue. Plus its so expensive it would be difficult to run YT1300 and Ghost together effectively. But i've been watching Rebels recently so i'm a little fond of it, whereas i barely remember the book the outrider appeared in. It is cheaper though.

I mainly fly for fun, and mostly have rebel fighters so i'm not too worried about tournament effectiveness.

The YT-2400 is hilariously fun. The natural ability to barrel roll makes it wonderfully agile for a large ship. Lando's fun and useful too, usually better option than just focus.
The YT-2400 is from Shadows of the Empire, a multimedia project circa 1996/7, i think.

The Ghost's primary selling points are, if going by cards, some of the crew. Some of the best Rebel squadrons are based on Ghost crew cards partially, apparently.

Flew Jess Pava, Norra Wexley and Lowrhick last weekend and it was a lot of fun. Jess is deceptively good, I didn't realise.
Last tournament of the year this weekend (I'm never able to attend the December ones, always busy). No idea what to take but I am oh so tempted to bust out the TIE Swarm.

Oh I remember it exists, and how it was one of the first 'official' canon additions to the Star Wars universe (god knows where it stands now though). I just don't get excited by it the way I do with the ghost.

I looked up some builds for the ghost and saw an interesting one where you use crew Hera to basically make it an oversized tie defender and k turn whenever you want. I built a team with lando in the falcon which seems interesting and workable. Not sure how it works in practic, as maneuvering two big ships through asteroids while trying to keep the, at range 1 seems pretty difficult.

Still, trying to decide. Outrider is cheaper and seems like it's becoming harder to find so it might be best to get one now. That and I honeatly d9nt know how I'd fit the larger ghost in the kit I use to lug my minis around.

Edit: how exactly does the docked shuttle work? I've read some descriptions but am still unclear. Is it just a free attack? Does it only go on the shuttle pilots PS?

Jess is probably my favourite filler in the game along Leauteant Colzet. It's hard to find a better 26-28 points ship who *also* synergizes with the rest of the squad.

Both, Outrider and Ghost, are very good ships, but by themselves Outrider probably has the edge. Outstanding dial (and with barrel rolls!), decent health-defense ratio, can hit really hard and Dash is a stupid pilot. Ironically, the best crewman for this ship comes with the Ghost: Kanan. You may feel dirty using it, tho.

The Ghost is a juggernaut. It may not roll anything on defense, but has enough health to make that irrelevant and it can reach some insane levels on firepower. It can also be more useful on a support role than the Outrider due the extra crew slot and certain pilot abilities.

While the Outrider might be hard to find at the moment, it will get reprinted eventually. Currently it is "awaiting reprint".

That is a concern. The same thing happened with the k wing, I remember. But I've seen a few at local game stores though, so i can probably grab one. I'm not sure for how long they'll be there though.

Someone has uploaded an Unboxing for the new shuttle from Rebels and the Resistance Bomber. Some crazy bomb related stuff on the latter.

B/SF-17 is a Slay&Korpil ship, interesting. But it most certainly ain't a B-wing derivative as some claim, given how big it is. Though naturally it fills the B-wing's combat role in-universe.

Deflective plating is neat and it seems to be tailor made for Crimson Specialists.

Advanced Optics is a version of Comm Relay for focus and slightly cheaper.

Crossfire Formation is the first card that specifies a sub-faction: "...other friendly Resistance ship...". This is quite significant consideration.
Personally, i'm concerned. Means A-wing doesn't go well with the Bomber, not unless they release TLJ A-wing (which is unlikely since the A-wing is still RZ-1 model).

Man, I'm really loving most of this upcoming wave. Everything about the Gunboat and its slam shenanigans is beautiful; I want to run a list with a TIE Striker or a Ryad piloted TIE Defender. The 3 hard turns on the Kimoglia are very welcomed, so you can make them green with the unhinged astromech. The coordiante options on the Phantom II are looking fantastic, and Maul is just perfectly design thematically.

I'm not so sure about the Trajectory upgrade for bombs, though... I really like the flight coordinator astromech it comes with, though.

You can also target your own ships with Scrambler missiles to force groups of enemy ships to shed focus/evade/TL tokens. All while doing 0 damage to your own ship, since the Scrambler cancels all dice results.

I can see that droid on low PS ships with "annoying" warheads (Scramble Missiles, Ion Torpedoes and so) and with no access to Long Range Scanners. Target your low agility friendly ship, send it on a close combat fight and shoot the missile. Even if you don't actually open fire against him, it can work as deterrent and create some mindfuckery.

Hey everyone, I was matt360 over on GAF. For those who use the Plano 1374, would you say the Resistance Bomber is unlikely to fit in the plastic cases? I still have space up top, but I'm also housing my Ghost up there along with Kylo's shuttle.

Since I'm still relatively new to the game, I'd love to see people's collections and storage solutions. I'm already kinda running out of space in my 1374 and I don't even have any Scum ships.

No idea on the Bomber and the Plano. Judging by the article it shouldn't be bigger than, let's say, an YV-666. Do you have one?

On the collection and storage solution... I use an Ikea bookcase with glass doors to store it, and a Mini Plus Feldherr case to transport whatever list/s I'll play.

The largest thing I use is a Shadowcaster tho. I have no idea how I would fit a Ghost or an Upsilon on the bag without buying more foam :P

That looks just like my Ikea shelf! A shelf is the only way to store these, IMO. A thick Plano tackle box is what I use for transport.

I was thinking maybe you can use an ion cannon on one of your ships, that way you can be sure he'll move 1 straight ahead, which could be a move that ship normally wouldn't have.

When you're Ioned, is the 1-move always a green manuever. Because theres a few ships have white ones, and if so that would also allow them to make range one greens to shed stress.

Also i went ahead and got the outrider. So tempted to buy the ghost which is $35 on amazon, but i'm just not playing enough these days.

An Ion token means you're forced to do a WHITE 1-speed maneuver, though you can perform actions if unstressed and attack as normal.

Wow, that's impressive! Very nice looking cases. I'd love to have a setup like that one day. And Kharnete, I currently do not own a YV-666. Actually, I don't have any Scum ships at all. Strictly Empire/Rebel at this point. Mostly because I really like their factions, and also because of money and space restraints. If I started getting into Scum, I'd probably have to go and buy a new tackle box before too long.

Here's what I've got so far:
PfrmPQtl.jpg

Spaces here are left for another B-Wing for when I can find the Rebel Aces pack. And then another couple X-Wings.

JBrUKmYl.jpg

Spaces at the bottom are for a Decimator and more TIEs.

dc2KaYGl.jpg

Self explanitory. I've seen people put their dials into binders but I'm not sure what kind of pages to get. This would be a good way to free up an extra box for Scum, but then I wouldn't have all my stuff together.

X3dE8T3l.jpg

Here I've got my Ghost, Upsilon Shuttle, cards and tokens.

There are some extra spoiled cards too.

The tech lets you spend your Target Lock on a ship in your arc that is activating on combat to perform a Barrel Roll or Boost as free action (only if you have them in your action bar tho). The elite gives you an Evade token for each obstacle at range 1 up to two tokens. And if the pilot shoots and it's obstructed, the defender rolls 2 defense dice less.

Hi guys, casual player here(my local shop doesn't run it... yet at least) I've only managed one game so far with a buddy and had a blast, hoping to get in some games with my sister's fiance over Christmas break. balanced things out between factions, but if I ever get into some matches I think I'm going to keep building rebel mainly, way to many ships I like(although there's still a scum ship or two I want)
My current set is core TFA(got it cheap), Tie Defender, Tie adv prototype(inquistor's tie), Most Wanted, H-6 Scurrg, and Rebel Aces. A fun mix for general play. Arc-170, YT-2400, Starwing!, Starviper, and HWK-290 are all on my wanted list though. I'm definitely on the fly what I want for fun rather than try to win trail so I'm not going to worry about dupes or trying to get a ton. still on the toss up of getting an original starter or a dice pack though

Weirdly worded then. Why mention "base" if it is talking about packaging, which is made clear in the previous sentence anyway.

"Small-base plastic" is the packaging that surrounds the typical small ship expansions. This ship is too big to fit in small-base plastic, so they put it into the medium box. It's caused some murmurs on the internet because, despite being a small-base ship, it's being priced as a more expensive expansion. At least all the cards are getting multiples to further justify its cost. I am thinking hard about getting a second one, because these tech upgrades are looking stellar!

Hmph. A game went completely wrong for me.
First, i designed a team that ended up wasting like 5 points of worth skill upgrades and related cards. This is because my brother's team had so low skill ratings... Admittedly, i couldn't really see that coming but it still bothers me.
Second, i messed up a move with Poe very, very badly which resulted me getting hit later on and Poe getting reduced to 0-skill. Which in turn ruined Poe's game completely.
Thirdly, Darth Vader crew is a fucking beast. Destroyed my pristine A-wing with a Direct Hit... sigh. That was after the Decimator he was on rolled over one of ships and blew it up.
My only gains during the game was to hit a TIE Bomber 4 times or so and taking down half of the Decimator's shields. Neither of which ended up doing any good.

Gonna fly my Rebel squadron again later on though, it has potential if i don't mess things and don't have bad luck.

I'm not good with Rebels regardless though. I can't quite figure out how they work together. They have some solo-aces i can work with (Jake Farrel, Poe) but overall they're not really my thing.
I'm more of a Imperial player, i like the mobility of TIEs and the finesse they require, not to mention how their aces tend to be lone wolves, no need for fancy formation flying or need to think (not as much as some anyway) about how my ships interact with each other.

For Rebels, I always choose a 2 ship combo with a great ace like Poe Dameron or Corran Horn, and combine them with a YT-1300 Han/Rey or YT-2400 Dash Rendar.

Sadly I've only done a single tutorial match, although I did tear up the x-wing with my ties. Although next time I teach someone I have the cards setup for an equal point tie pair vs z95s.

popular setup for tutorial games is a kitted out Han Solo in the falcon with Luke and maybe Chewie vs 4 TIES that are a similar points value. It's the whole Death Star escape scene and makes it a lot of fun.

So I just played a couple matches yesterday, but I forgot to bring my dials. The Android App, "Dials for X-Wing" was an awesome way to cover my bases. In fact, I might just use this as my standard dial for casual games.

Side note, Five TIE Advanced Prototypes with the Title, Guidance Chips, and Proton Rockets seemed good in theory, but they can't hit small base aces for shit.

That sounds like what one would expect to happen. Unless you're Turr Phennir piloting a TIE Interceptor or Valen Rudor in a TIE Advanced Prototype, you're probably dead meat when you end up in a kill box of two TIE/D Defenders. Turr has the ability to shoot and escape, and Valen gets to defend then escape. Otherwise, your Ace will have to out fly them, use another lower pilot skill ship to block their path, or have your other ship(s) lined up and ready to punish the attackers.

Ended up in a bad position. Expected different moves from my friend. And my Headhunters were elsewhere so they could not block.
Blocking is not something i've practiced anyway, can't really figure how to do it. Maybe someday :P

Starviper Mk2 is really great for sure though. That maneuverability!

Blocking is a required skill for flying low PS small base ships. Once you can figure out how to prevent your enemy aces from completing their maneuver, as well as denying them an action, you are capable of stopping them in their tracks.

I just grabbed a second Guns for Hire box because I've loved the Kihraxz upgrades, but I've yet to take the StarViper title a whirl. I'm glad to hear good things about them!

Really, the Starviper with mkII title is so damn agile! It is wonderful. I kept moving it (Xizor, Virago and SV mkII) behind my friend's TIE Defenders. Unfortunately, i eventually made a slight miscalculation and did not manage to shoot Ryad down before i got shot as the TIE Defender has durability advantage, by this point the game was down to one on one because Xizor had picked off the two Delta Squadron Pilots (the Headhunters ended up being good cannon fodder even if they never blocked anything).
Banking barrel roll often allows for gaining an angle that allows you to shoot just about but the enemy can't. Also, the Collision Detector may be worthwhile with Virago, as that allows barrel rolls over asteroids if necessary.

Anyway blocking... I tend to fly aces usually. My low skill pilots, when i have them, tend to be supports like TIE Shuttle, or they're otherwise unsuitable for blocking often. This game i had a couple of Headhunters as i had a "Black Sun squadron" (Xizor, Black Sun Ace, 2x Black Sun Soldier), mostly for style reasons.

Blocking is love, blocking is life. Even with aces, as nowadays isn't rare at all to face pilots at PS10-11. Getting used to block also gives you extra input to avoid being blocked in certain moments, as you'll have a better knoweledge of what may the other guy do.

And yeah, the MKII title for the Starviper is amazingly fun. I mean, it transforms the Viper in a mini-me version of the funniest pilot to use in the game, Echo, which isn't precisely a bad thing. I've only had the chance to play Thweek with it tho. And while is *great* I can't wait to make a Guri list with all these new shiny toys.

Got myself a Kimogila and two Scyks. Unfortunately it seems my AG, TIE/vn and Resistance Bomber order has been delayed.

What's next...
I'd like another K-Wing just because though strictly speaking i don't think i need one. Fourth TIE Fighter would be nice but not essential. Second TIE Adv. Prototype would bring another Guidance Chimps though i don't really need the ship. Not interested in ARC-170 really but it has additional Vectored Thrusters and Tail Gunner. Phantom II has the excellent astromech card but otherwise the ship doens't really interest me, and since i lack Ghost, it doesn't seem to be that useful.
Of bigger ships, YV-666 would be nice in case i ever get C-ROC and Jabba, but otherwise not really keen on it. I don't like Jumpmaster much either, but it has impressive amount of good cards (also cheaper than YV-666). Original Millenium Falcon would give me a couple of Engine Upgrades plus useful crew.

Really wish there were upgrade card boosters or something so that i wouldn't need to buy ships i don't need.

I'm putting together a squad using clone wars era ship. Its not intended to be for a tournament, just casual, but i'd still like to get some feedback.

Arc 170
Norra
Engine upgrade
Alliance Overhaul
PtL
BB-8
(also considering Intensity and Lando, and maybe scrounge enough points for a torpedo)

Y-wing
Dutch Vander
Hull upgrade
TLT
R5-K6

Z-95
Lt Blount
Vectored Thrusters
Calculation
Adv Homing missle

The idea is to have Dutch tlt things and feed target locks to Norra, who can upgrade her shots with them. Blount flies back up, gets the shot of early and generally flies around being a pest afterwards. These guys don't really have enough actions for me to use Cracken. Thoughts? Improvements? Other clone war ships i could use? Only ones i can think of is the yt1300, which is a bit too many points, and the Phantom II, which i don't own.

You can find them individually on ebay, if you're willing to take the risk.

You might also wait. A reviewer i watched on youtube had an interesting theory that i think might be on the money. That astromech card would do a lot for x wings, but unless they're being super greedy, they can't really expect people to buy several phantoms. His guess is that they have a Last Jedi inspired expansion coming up, maybe in the next wave, that will have multiples and maybe some new toys to help boost xwings. If Luke takes out his old xwing in the next movie, I could definitely see this happening.

I don't do internet auctions. Too risky, too much hassle. Also not sure if people would sell to Finland anyway.

Honestly the astromech card looks like it might get stuck with one expansion. I mean, unless you're interested in the ship otherwise, what else would get you get it? Maul?

As for TLJ-based expansions, there's a new shuttle craft in the film (clearly Lambda-shuttle lineage with a dash of the Upsilon) but other than that... unless they do a TLJ-version of the A-wing, i doubt we'll be seeing anymore TLJ-based expansions. It didn't have many new small ships.

I figure that if there's any boost to X-wing at some point, it will be via E-wing/X-Wing double pack probably (since those two ships are frequently cited as lacking). If there's anything like that coming anymore.
