What is the consensus about the quality of the iOS port? I would be interested to get this game for my iPad, but was wondering how this version of Stardew Valley was holding up. Is there anything cut? Are the controls adequate?

Edit: It's also 50% off in the App Store until January 3rd

Slightly late to the party - bought on switch but only just started playing. I have a couple of questions that I've tried to figure out but can't

- how do I smelt stuff? I have a bunch of copper ore from just breaking rocks on my farm but can't get the blacksmith to do anything with them. I googled and you can build a furnace but I don't have a recipe. I levelled up my mining but still nothing. Is there any other trigger?

- I bought a bunch of strawberry seeds at the egg festival but they take a long time to grow and I just read all your crops die at the end of a season.. does that include repeat crops like beans/strawberries? If so should I have waited until the next month to plant?

Any particular tips to make money - do I need to do a lot of planting/selling as the seeds are so expensive they wipe me out quickly before I can buy that many. And even basic stuff like a coop that the game is telling me to build, or the backpack which i desperately want is thousands of gold

(Seriously why is half your inventory taken by the default tools?)

In order

You should have got the blueprint after you got your first ore from Clint in a cutscene. If you didn't then dunno what you can do!

If they last multiple seasons then they won't die at the end of the first one. So wheat if planted in summer will last all the way to the end of fall. Unfortunately strawberries are spring only so they'll die once summer hits

Go around the place picking up the mushrooms and what not around the place. Easy money. Also get the preserves jar. Takes a bit longer before you can sell shit but makes you alot more money

Thanks. No Clint visit. Do I have to visit the mine - haven't done that but have ore from basic rocks on the ground

Do seeds state their seasonality?

Oh yeah go to the mine. He'll pop up the next day I think

I think so I can't recall sorry but they'll only be sold in the season they can be planted

If you go into the inventory menu (press B) and move the pointer over a bag of seeds, the description should tell you which seasons they can be planted in and how long they take to mature. The description also appears when you are buying seeds from merchants. Pierre will only sell crop seeds that are in season, but other merchants such as the traveling cart may sell outside of season. Just something to keep in mind. :)

Had a bit of a binge on this since starting - just finished year one. Thought a lot of the community center would need multiple years but I've done a lot of it now - I think just the artisan bundle and then the bulletin board left.

Started year 2 more structured, and got some sprinklers (the middle ones), which helps me trade watering time for animal caring time. Having to keep the animals inside for a few days to let the grass starter get hold - they keep eating all of it too quickly :)

What a good goals for year 2? Or just relax and enjoy it? I have the second level coop and barn.

Needed 10 wheat for a community centre bundle. Plant 24 just in case. 9 gold, 9 silver, 6 regular :/

So now I have to plant another 4 at least to be sure..

Still, not all bad. Marry Emily on Tuesday

Yeah the fact that you can't mix the rarity for the bundle sucks. I've never married Emily though, but I've just been trying to do 1 year community center runs so I'm generally very anti-social haha.

Any tips for finding artefacts for the museum? Do I just wander around looking just for worms to dig up, or try killing lots of stuff in the mine (already bottomed that out)

And is it worth using casks or just brew and sell wine faster?

If you're on PC, get the mod that makes it so every artifact can show up in geodes. If you have the multiplayer update, there should be new quests with treasure maps that'll net you specific artifacts as rewards.

Casks are free money, so you might as well.

Switch.

I literally just unlocked a forager skill that at least points me to the forage spots. Still not a high chance but at least I won't wander around quite as aimlessly.

If I can't mod, is it better to forage or mine? Statistically speaking?

Anyone noticed a difference in timing between indoors/outdoors? I have a shed full of casks and one full of preserving pots. Then outside my house I have one case/pot as an indicator. I fill all the casks then at the end I walk over to my house and put the same ingredient in the cask there. So when I see that is ready, the shed full should also be ready. But often they aren't. Especially the preserving tubs. Usually only out by a day max, but can be annoying

Hi guys,

I haven't played since the original release where I was completely obsessed and got to Year 3, Spring 1 and unlocked most things. I wondered if anything cool had been added to the game since then?

There's never been a better time to start a new file and see what exciting changes await you!
(TBH there's nothing particularly amazing - there are new character events, Emily and Shane are marriable, there's an end game quest that unlocks some high price structures, some changes here and there.... and multiplayer, I guess, which isn't really my jam but I can see why other folks would be in to it)

Thanks! Yea I played through a Spring, third year on my original save and it was ok. Had a lot of new events to catch up thanks to Emily and Shane, and structures from the Wizard were available. Having the little jelly bean guys pick my crops is nice. Otherwise it didn't seem too much had really changed or been added unfortunately.

I know it's not the hardest challenge and it relies a little on luck but I completed the one year community challenge the other day.

The funny thing was that I got both red cabbage seeds and a grown red cabbage from the traveling salesman whereas in my last two attempts I got neither.

When you get to year three - if you get the statue thing from your grandpa, does that mean he's happy - job done? So I can now relax and get on with other stuff?

Starting to think more about layout of my farm - considering dumping the chickens as they're a lot of overhead (crowded coop - even big one - and the eggs get in the way of the petting) and maybe focusing on one barn of pigs, one of goats/cows. Get good money for aged cheese and truffle oil

A co-worker of mine has this downloaded on his phone, watched him play some and considering I've been itching to get back to this, I bought it on my phone....oh boy, goodbye productivity lol.

Once I figured out the touch controls and how everything was laid out, I haven't been able to stop. This isn't going to be good for my work productivity...the mobile port is really good.

How does co op work in this ?
It's the same as single player but you choose "Coop", the "Host" tab, and then "Host New Farm". Then you create your character as normal, but you'll notice a second box on the left -- select the (?) for explanation of what the new selections do. Then you either invite friend from Steam, or you can create an invite code.

Started up again. Just can't stay away from this game.

Second year of my new farm:

Went back to the original farm layout after making farms on all the new maps. This game is just too much fun.

Guesstimated release for the 1.3 update on PS4/XBO is next month:

Also, with Rune Factory coming back, it seems Concerned Ape wanted to remind everyone who runs this city: Ver 1.4 is in the works

Good to see he's still updating it. But I'd rather have a sequel. Or at least a new town with different people, schedules and quests.

I got this on Android some weeks ago and I've been playing the everloving crap out of it, holy moly. On Year 3 now. My only real goal is to save up for the 2 million sceptre that lets you return home in an instant right now? And getting all the townspeople to level 8/10 friendship

Just started playing this lovely game and I have a couple of questions regarding co-op play.

1. Do each player ger their own set of tools or do you share them?

2. Do each player have their own relationship status with the locals or are these shared as well?

3. Do the quest line follow the player who created the server or can everyone do quests on their own?

4. Is the money pool shared or individual? If it's not shared, can you trade somehow?

1. Each player start with their own set of tools, and must pay for their own upgrades/bags
2. Each player have their own relationships with the townsfolk
3. Quests are shared but the choice of Jojo/Community Center is the host
4. Gold is shared, the configuration allows you to place a % penalty on income to balance having upwards of 4 players
5. When players log off the server everything in their inventory is deposited in a box inside their cabin

I grabbed this on Switch. I played it a lot on PC and it's nice having it portable. Too bad the Switch really hates lots of grass - and I have a lot of grass.
I love that hatching a dinosaur by incubating a piece of wallpaper still works.
And I built Pam a house even though she didn't deserve it.

The Switch hates grass? Like it has slow downs or something?

Yeah, if I stay at the top of my farm, where it's just buildings, it's fine. When I get near the big field I made, the frame rate stutters bad. It's currently winter and all is well again. I know it's the grass because I planted a ton of it one day and that's when the Switch started struggling. I really hope the new "slightly more powerful" Switch it out soon.

I bought this game on the PS4 and the Switch but every time I start it I get this feeling that I'm doing it wrong. Maybe I should use a guide to start with, anyone have any recommendations?

You can't really do anything wrong unless you really want to finish the community center in year one. That's doable but takes some planning. Or you can buy the Joja Mart membership which turns the community center into a useless warehouse.

So what I do is clear enough space to plant those free turnip seeds left by someone who snuck into your house during the night. Water them and then spend the rest of the day clearing. You might find some more free seeds along the way. Turn any sap into free fertilizer - fertilizer has to be put down first before you plant. I've had to restart entire days because I forgot this.
Another thing you can do with the free turnip seeds is sell them back to Pierre at his shop and invest the money into a better crop - like potatoes.
Spend any time you aren't farming in the mine at first.

The Stardew Wiki is great

Replaying on PC and I forgot what a creep my character is: Always hiding in bushes, eavesdropping on private moments, sneaking up on them in their bedrooms and rummaging around in their things - at one point finding what I can only assume was Pierre's porn stash.
Also, I totally had no choice other than to display Mayor Lewis's underwear at the fall fair. It had to be done.

Edit: Almost forgot the one where my character waltzs into the doctor's office and watches George getting his checkup. Totally normal.

Cool, thanks. I kinda wanna jump back in but have been waiting patently for the update.

Oh how I wish I could cross save between my PS4 and Vita in the meantime.
