So now that this game has been out for a while and people have done multiple playthrough, what's the consensus on difficulty of new game +'s? Does it ramp up? I found the game too easy, I was hoping for a mod (PC) that increases it a bit. I don't want to do four or five playthroughs to get to a difficulty I'm good with.
Nope. Especially easy if you use legacy perks. I always use the Warlord and Builder perks.

Having a blast with the game, but last night after playing for about an hour my One X started flipping back and forth between HDR and non-HDR every few seconds. Rebooted the game and it was fine for a while, then it started again. At this point I'm unsure if it's the game, the One X or the TV.

I've heard if you use the radio option to find new territories, and move your community from one map to another (as opposed to starting a new community at the main menu), it gets a lot tougher. Haven't tried it myself though.

Gunplay does feel better and the systems behind the combat are awesome. Love the customizations. This still feels exactly like the first game with the weird snapping into animations and lock ons. It just feels really ghetto. I just came off God of War.

Part of that is having levelled expectations. This is a survival / community management sim with some enjoyable combat. God of War is a top-tier action/adventure game designed around combat.

Did this for my second run. North East corner of Cascade hills. A long way from anything and not a car in sight (or so I thought) Your stuff starts degrading pretty quickly so you have to move fast. Easily the hardest part of the game for me..

Anyone else notice themselves making mental notes IRL for vehicle, and store locations? After playing way too much Metal Gear 5 I would catch myself staring longingly at shipping containers and thats starting to happen here. I see a F250 parked somewhere and thinking "I should keep that in mind when I do my next run".

I certainly don't expect it to be as polished or as good as a big budget title but I certainly expected it to be a big improvement over the first game that came out 5 years ago. Especially with the move to a new engine and (I'm assuming) a larger budget.

Absolutely! I definitely need to make a run next time I play to grab a military truck I saw last time I played, up on the northern part of the map.

I invited my SO and for quite some time we drove around and picked up every interesting car I had found. I drove him there and he drove the car back to my base while I followed him home. The base happened to be the corner office, so the streets were just filled with cars!

When I drove home once, two cars who were parked a bit too close to each other decided to explode and fling each other quite some distance. After that I didn't park them or other cars close to each other anymore. :D

I have also seen that "in the wild" a couple of times. One time in a super funny way when a truck and an ambulance suddenly flew up in the air over a ridge and came rolling down the mountain towards me like boulders. Oh how I wish I had recorded it!

I haven't gotten it since the big title update. Do you see their stick figure on the minimap? They may not have disappeared, they may have decided to run back to the base. (I know that's not much better but it's happened to me, especially when picking up a new NPC for an enclave mission.)

I once had a disappeared follower (with his stick figure still there) popped out of the car while I was driving after I hadn't seem him for 20 minutes . He litterally jumped and roll out of the car while I was escorting a survivor back to his base from a side mission, I first thought it was the survivor having a fit, but turned out it was my follower jumping in (out) to say Hi.

So, i finally finished the game. It lasted much longer than it was supposed to for me, because I kept moving to a new territory after taking out what I thought were all the plague hearts in my area. As it turned out, a glitch or something was causing me to miss one, which did not appear via radio side mission. So I would keep moving towns and hope to get the message there, only to have to restart the plague heart quest in the new territory. I finally got it on the 3rd move/territory on day 34. I lost my main, Martin, in all the mess, and replaced him with Johnny, the drunk soldier from the brewers and made him a warlord.

Anyhow, I'm on my 2nd playthrough and new community now. Decided to use 3 of the lower tier members of my first community to lead this new one. Picked my gardener, electrician and construction guys. Does the game start differently if you were to pick new survivors instead of reusing old ones? What I mean by that is do we get to do Camp Osprey stuff again, or does the new group just start the same with the broken down car?

I have never used a radio search but if you can't see enough hearts on the map, drive to areas where lookout towers don't reach. Preferably with a survey car since they have a "longer reach". The areas where you can see on the map that there are houses but they lack an icon, meaning they are not "discovered". I've had at least one heart in such areas on every playthrough.

The game is the same if you pick new people or old community members, as far as I can tell. Aside from the old one keeping their skills, inventory and everything.

Edit: Oh is that the tutorial place? I think you can choose if you want to start with three randoms/old members or do the tutorial stage with the couples/siblings/friends + the doc and the soldier.

I think the biggest issue I'm starting to realize is that this game is a Sims / community / base building game but it's also really fast pace. Once you figure out how to rid of plague hearts, they get wrecked fast. Your legacy quest line is really damn short and if you complete it, your community is done. Even the personal quests are quick. You're constantly bombarded with pleas from other enclaves, and your community is always ruining your supplies cause someone left shit laying around so you have loot more. Sure you can just move to a near area but it's same thing you just did.

I don't think base building works well with a fast paced game. I didn't have the same feeling in the first game.

Still happens to me on the regular.

Has anyone here managed to make an entirely military community? Is that even possible? I wish they gave the soldier survivors better overall stats and skills, because it doesnt seem most of them do.

I haven't seen the trait "Active military personnel" on anyone other then the tutorial soldier guy and random survivors you can recruit that have military outfits have poor stats and there's no indication that they're in the military.

i got a bunch of survivors that were basically a group of soldiers who got seperated from their unit, they all had incredible combat stats. Unfortunately they disappeared off the map at some point, no idea what happened to them. I probably missed a call.

Also my favourite thing with disappearing followers is when they spawn in on your and you're in a car so you nearly run them over

The RNG that spawns enclaves wants me to murder people. I've had an enclave pop about 4 houses down from my base three times now that threatens me for supplies. The first one I humored them since I had plenty seeing if they'd turn friendly. Their last quest was a threat to take my base so I had to put them down. About three game days later and in the exact same house a different enclave does the same shakedown tactic. This time I just killed them. Three more game days and ANOTHER one pops with the same tactic...

Drop an outpost there

I had a group of those. The base they chose was one of those tiny sheds. All 4 of them were crammed in it like sardines while there was a perfectly nice 4 bedroom house 20 feet away. It was great.

I don't know if the game is broken or if I'm doing something wrong but my garden is supposed to produce 4 food a day but I have never received it and am constantly low on food. Any suggestions?

I just had a follower disappear as I was trying to get rid of infestation. We got out of the car, she killed one zombie and ran down the street.

Shit needs to be their first priority to fix.

i feel like other enclaves should actually be out there doing something to affect the world, you know, trying to secure more territory or fighting other enclaves or scavenging on their own and shit as well

How are you getting water to it?
i have a water cooler

4 a day seems high for a garden. Are you sure that's what it's supposed to be producing?
I boosted my garden

How much people you have? Maybe too much?
5

You can check if you go + or - of resources if you go to the base screen and open the first info box in the upper left corner. It will list everything going in and out.
Thanks, I will try this

Curious to know how long people are generally taking on a playthrough (as in in-game days), I'm finding by the 10-14 day mark I've scavenged alot, moved base a couple times, have about 10 or so community members and have run out of things to do, so I finish the legacy and move on.

I think I'm done with the game for now, I've cleared all the plague hearts and I've moved into and built up the most expensive base. There's still plenty of places to visit I just feel the need to at this point. If they continue to patch the game up and add some cool content I'll jump back in and move to the second map. Overall I'd give it a soloid 7/10, the co-op really disapointed me or it would have been higher. I hope one day we get a proper co-op mode, ideally with a shared community option.

Aside from the new RPG elements, the game overall was kind of a let down. Felt like nothing else was improved much.

And now MS picks up Undead Labs so maybe State of Decay 3 will be a triple A, with more indepth mechanics, online play, bigger map, and longer campaigns with a story.

I think (?) I finished my last playthrough (where admittedly I was just b-lining for plague hearts) in 5 or 6 days? But generally the 10 day mark seems to be when I feel like I've been able to recruit who I want, scavenge an abundance of everything, move into a big base and have everything running.

How do I cure blood Plague? I've killed a hundred of the red zombies and not a single plague sample

I have killed ~4 blood plauges, no deaths yet and made the surrounding people happy.

I am not really feeling the game though. Should I stick it our or is it mostly the same from here on out? Got it from game pass so not a huge loss if I stop.

There is definitely some cool concepts in this game but I am finding the game more tedious then fun at this point. I think part of it is all of the characters are uninteresting (at least in my run/people at my base) so I will hurl them into any situation as I don't care if they make it out or not.

Coolest detail is passengers door checking zombies!

Find a plague heart. Don't have to kill it. Just shoot at it a few times, and it will spawn plague zombies to defend it, get back in your car and run em over. Repeat till you have enough or no ammo lol

After the last 5gb update I'm having a terrible time with ladders? It's like if you don't tippy toe to the ladder the idiot will just walk off the edge and get all fucked up from the fall!? This is so frustrating. Seems to happen more often on the billboards.

Anyone else experience this?

Is there an easy way to find the plague heart in the map? Also is there a benefit to keeping it around?
