Shouldn't have taken out the baby killing. If you want to be a total edgelord trying to be as offensive as possible, might as well go all in. Valve is going to remove it either way. I imagine where the guy ultimately sells it for real is going to get a nice boost from this controversy unfortunately.

It's been two fucking months and we've already had a major publisher endorse a site that hosts child pornography, and one of the four major platform holders in the industry HOST A RAPE SIMULATOR.

There is no way this guy would not have counted on this game getting delisted from Steam and then the ensuing fuss from the "freeze peach" brigade coming to his aid. Call me cynical but if I was a betting man I'd say this might be an attempt to get a lot of negative press, get pulled from Steam and then allow him to sell the game off site from all the noise this would have generated and not give a 30% cut to Valve in the process.

Bold strat, maybe Sweeney could learn a thing or two here.

Maybe if they acted responsibly and not just gone "all right, fuck y'all" and tried to address the criticisms of their (extremely limited) curation process then maybe we wouldn't be here. I wonder how many times this BS is gonna happen until they get a clue and come up with something that actually works or hire more people to sift through, if not act fast to prevent shit like this from happening again.

Or maybe this is the outlier and the system is working as intended....idk. I also don't know how a system does not catch something like "RAPE DAY" from getting on the store.

Looking more into this, this is definitely getting taken down for "straight up trolling". That's a low effort basic Ren'py UI with possibly stolen assets. There's no way this took 2 years to make.

This guy was counting on controversy and he's getting it. The free speech warriors will flock to wherever he sells it after getting delisted from Steam so he can cash out on a mangled collection of stock images and edgy teenager writing.

Erm, no that's not what this category is for. Murder is illegal too. Depicting rape in fiction isn't illegal anymore than depicting murder is. That's the creator's point actually -_- the game shouldn't be reported because it's illegal, but because it doesn't deserve a platform.

Didn't Valve explicitly state somewhere that their new rules include the ability to remove any game they wish if they deem it "troll" content? AKA games meant to do nothing but stoke political anger, etc?

This seems like it would fall under that, and they can remove it without any issue, consistent with their own rules.

It's going to get removed anyway no matter the report option. Valve just doesn't pay attention to these games, and once the spotlight is shone on it even just a little bit, it's going to get nuked.

It's on the platform out of laziness / luck, not because they approved it over some other kiddy titty fondler game. A handful of these always sneak up and when they are close to release, tend to disappear once the behemoth has it's actual attention.

Valve really ought to have some basic things like "You can't submit a game with Rape in the title" though as an automatic filter.

For those who see value in a movie like Serbian Film, can similar themes be explored in games or is the interactivity something that makes it fundamentally different and inappropriate?

I think someone could probably pull it off eventually and make something legitimately thought-provoking despite being transgressive.

This is not that. This is someone trying to appeal to edgy channers, not someone trying to actually say something.

I'm certainly not arguing for this game. Or a game like Serbian Film. I personally find no value in the sort of media, but some do. I was just curious if those who find value in films like Serbian Film think interactive media is too far or just as valid for that sort of expression as film.
