I just call fish chicken and my kids will usually eat it if they dip it in ketchup.

Kids need to learn to make wise choices. My kids reading a menu is a routine natural learning opportunity.

That's exactly where my head went. I work in the industry and I feel OP's pain, but no matter what parents do it will always suck to have kids at a table. Always.

I am with the OP with a slight modification. What you do is you find the two things on the menu that are most likely to be what they want, and then you give the kid a choice between those two things. Also this would only be the case until they are six or seven years old, or when they are able to make pretty fast decisions and stick to it, whichever comes first.
Some parents like to foster independence early so their kids can make their own decisions twenty years later. Not a big deal, and a minor annoyance at best.

It is actually. A restaurant isn't a bank, you aren't there to conduct business. You're there to eat and relax. If you need to eat quick, get take out.
