I tried to keep the title vague to avoid spoilers, if people expected to read the entire plot of the movie sorry. It could also be viral marketing so maybe someone could suggest a better title.

Back to topic. Today khara posted a reminder that almost 2 years ago they had one of the first production meetings for the movie (link to original tweet here), and to show the progress they made in 2 years they posted another tweet with a huge pile of the latest production papers to show just how much material there is now compared to then.

The tweet is not deleted, but it was this

They blurried some of the text to avoid spoilers, but with some photoshop and enough time people found something interesting

This is the published 2.0 equivalent of the same study

Asuka, Rei and Shinji are expectedly exactly as tall as they were in 2.0, but Toji, Kensuke and Hikari are fully grown up into adults.

This is a fairly big spoiler because in 3.0 Shinji is carefully manipulated into believing they are dead because of him, so them being adults and presumably still alive (like in fairness some dialogues in 3.0 implied) is gonna be a big shock for Shinji and for the less crazy fans that don't go full CSI on any tweets khara posts.

I feel like this is the kind of spoiler where you have to have presumed knowledge enough to be able to put the pieces together to the point where it's not a spoiler.

Because as someone whose only consumption of Evangelion is that song and "congratulations," I got nothing out of this.

To be honest I've seen all the rebuild films, and even liked 3, but my first response was still "huh?"

God, the Rebirth movies is what happens when the writers of Evangelion really take those 5deep3u reviews as the main trait of Evagelion

God, it's stuff like this that doesn't let me get hyped for things anymore until they're like a DAY from release.

3.0 was released in 2012.

AND WE GOT DOCUMENTS GUYS. DOCUMENTS. AND HEIGHTS.

Can't wait... figuratively speaking.

You're all fools. The final movie will just be a single extended shot of Anno smashing Eva figurines with a hammer and laughing.

1. Both endings of the show are good endings for Shinji's development
2. Those 2 aren't even "the" Asuka and Shinji of the rest of the manga
3. The manga isn't canon and it ruins most of the points of the tv show
When I said 'happy', I didn't necessarily mean 'good' haha

EoE is very much still my go to ending. Not that I have anything much against the original TV one -- just a preference. Either works in terms of Shinji's story.

I mean. Maybe Shinji will have another trip sequence like EoE where he imagines them as adults. I'm just saying, it's Eva.

Isn't the title misleading? Khara blurred the images. It's fans/people online who spoiled it by purposefully unblurring the images. No?

I hate that "curse of eva" bullshit.

If you want a timeskip, age the characters y'all cowards

The curse of Eva the equivalent of relativity in Gunbuster. It's there for a very specific reason in terms of character development.
Gunbuster made great use of the device; 3.0 did very little with it. It'll be hard to convince me that the primary motivation wasn't just keeping the main characters at their most marketable ages.

The prime reason was to keep the timeskip a secret, that's also why they never showed any character apart from the pilots (only in the plugsuits) and Gendo in the trailers. Also this basically confirms we're gonna see the "Gunbuster element" when Shinji meets Toji, Kensuke and Hikari in the final movie. They really grow up and he didn't.

Reminder that the the rebuild films started production on 2002...

Early 2006.

You mean secret in the preview materials? Because I thought we saw toji's aged sister at the beginning of 3.0... which made me think the timeskip was just so they could introduce another teenaged waifu.
They didn't age in our social conscious. They are eternally teenagers. That's the curse of Eva.
I know you can do a meta reading of it where it's a critique of otaku culture, commercialism, etc etc. But it feels toothless to me when anno is cashing in so hard.

Yes in any preview or snipped or illustration about the movie before the release there was absolutely nothing that could have even hinted at more a few months at best of time-skip.

Those are the only 2 trailers that were released 20 days before the movie came out

The Wunder wasn't ever showed, Wille's logo wasn't showed, no character that looked different (like the bridge bunnies) was showed. In fact it's far easier to just say what was showed:

- Shinji and Kaworu playing the piano (actually just the piano moving on its own)
- Asuka, Shinji, Mari and Rei inside a plugsuit

And that's it. They also never released a snipped of the plot of the movie. They only showed 4 character in all the trailers, and for what was like a total of 6 seconds each (no hyperbole).

People discovered Sakura was now a teen at the same time Shinji did it in the midnight screenings, and then they went "excuse me, how much time di pass?" and "this makes absolutely no sense" like him did.

I can't get excited about the movies anymore, being hyped since 2006 has destroyed me. But god I can't wait till the series comes to netflix this spring. So many people to recommend it to, so many people to experience shinji ikari

Knowing his work and general impressions i've seen from other about his person i honestly feel very happy that he gets his due for doing his typical meta/humanistic kind of work. You should watch The Kingdom of Dreams and Madness, Anno shows up and Miyazaki and Suzuki praise him as a very honest, very modest person. That kinda solidified my opinion of him.

And, i mean, having the chance to do commentary on an immensely influential work of your own more than a decade after it came out, i think that's a chance no artist would miss if given the chance.

The last movie is older than my uncle. Any outrage over potential spoilers for it should've expired long ago.

>Reichu

now that's a throwback

We've been waiting on this film for so long now that it feels incredibly unreal to think that it might actually be within reach, haha.
