Pat plays MMOs for a billion hours, which is basically the same thing with a bigger budget.
Fair enough, but being wary of gacha games is always a good impulse. Being a whale in MMOs is much harder than any gacha, but Warframe, for example, can certainly make it easy with the new personal roombas you can get for real money.

The currency they are using is the real money currency that Pat hemmed and hawed about a year ago with his big boy discounts.

You can more or less not spend any money and get the exact characters you want with the spark system. It takes a few months of saving, but it's a lot better than just randomly pulling and hoping. And if you want to spend money you can just buy the Surprise ticket that comes around every couple months which just let you outright get the (non-limited generally) character you want.

Waiting until he gets into Fate and then Crazy talk will Bite The Dust.
There's no way Pat gets into Fate.

Even at its absolute best it's a mediocre series carried hard by aesthetics and the concept of its world rather than any story.(the best things from that series are side books and no not the one you think)

And the aggressive amount of porn is just gonna have him bounce off it like fucking teflon.

Fate peaked at Fate/Zero, the second medium to come out of that mess of a series.

And the best points of Fate/Zero cam only be truly appreciated after suffering through the original 26 ep stay/night anime that is complete garbage. (Unless a later adaptation fixed it but even then, while Fate/Zero is good, it's not SO GOOD I'd subject someone to watch any other fate series as homework for it)

Strange Fake is better than Zero though. Granted it's not done yet.

The only good Fate related works are Carnival Phantasm and Today's Menu for the Emiya Family, the rest of it's some combination of pretentious, porn, incredibly misogynistic or just bad.

but hey they gave musashi and nobunaga big baps so it's great

Having put $3000 into Fate Grand Order, I can say that if someone wants to get into the series, they should watch Fate Zero and stop there.

Carnival Phantasm is also good but relies too much on actually knowing Tsukihime and Fate Stay Knight.

Trying to force these guys on a franchise they obviously have made fun of for as long as these guys have been online, bundled with Pat's pettiness i just think some of their fans just have the wrong idea about what "cool shit" they'd enjoy.
Fate is some ole bullshit that's part of internet history now, so long as people make melty blood jokes, the tendrils will never disappear completly but don't expect any person to dive into that. Ask someone to dive into homestuck and you get some other weird fandom stuff about buckets and spit ? But we got undertale music out of it.

As a general rule, I don't like introducing things to other people and I don't like being introduced things by other people.

Yes I'm missing out on Game of Thrones, no I don't particularly care yet.

I don't think that's true either lol.

She's pretty flat chested.

Fate/Stay Night is fine, a little dumb and too self serious but it's fine. It's not high art or anything and it gave us Zero which is pretty god damn interesting if you ignore everything around it.

Other than that the "Franchise" is WAAAAAAAAY too up its own god damn ass for what literally amounts to "what if all these famous historical figures, but waifus". But hey waifus are easy money so kudos to seeing a gap in the market I guess.

This is the wrong answer

This is the right answer.

As for aesthetics. I'm talking purely the art that has progressed since like 2010. Like from Fate Extra onwards. I'm not talking bout Fate/Stay Night when i say aesthetics.

the best aspects of fate are the battle royale and deduction/mystery mind games the characters participate in to determine which historical figures are which class and what bonkers fucking powers they have hidden. and the porn.

if it looks good and isn't related to prisma illya it's acceptable
I'm guessing they meant the porn fans make.
yeah

and to get back on topic, Pat could get into Fate. Anyone can. Its biggest weakness is its strength. There's too much varied media to not have something any particular would like. Fuck viewing order, just jump in.

Catching up on podcasts, finally got to the endgame spoiler cast and Holy shit I'm done. Pat literally just being wrong about the cap-timeline pissed me off. Woolie kept giving evidence that he's right and Pat was being a dick until Woolie fell for his misinformation.

It's not even "haha zany quirky Pat is always wrong" it's just infuriating. Wouldn't even let Woolie finish his sentences.

I forgot that eyepatch is in the same place as Woolie so of course the joke was made.
Still amazed that Woolie didn't find out about the basement yet, it's so much of the plot now that the reveal seems like so long ago.

Eyepatch Wolf is on the latest episode of Woolie's podcast. It's really good. I think Woolie has something really special with this series.

I'm assuming those tweets are about Pat and Woolie going in on Owen on the pod. I agree it was over the line. I fucking hate that passive aggressive shit though. If you've got a problem, call them out directly.

Was the Owen good article that bad? This podcast is pretty vicious in a not particularly comfortable way, even when I agree with pat and woolie largely

After listening, and re-listening to that segment, I think the anger they are throwing that guy's way hinges on the fact that the article is written in a very corporate-apologist fashion.
