I knew that Dr. Coyle created Helix & Springtron, but I didn't know she resurrected Master Mummy as well.
She's directly tied to a lot of characters on the roster, which is why I wouldn't be entirely surprised with her being chosen.

Dark Samus is a Metroid and the Koopalings are such non-entities I forgot about them.
Byleth may not be evil herself, but those colors do radiate a villainous energy, so sure.
Isn't it weird that Sakurai elected to give us two Rule 63 Dantes and a high school Dante as DLC before finally giving in and just going with normal Dante?
He knew it'd take a while so he put in Joker and the Byleth alt to tide you over.

Just make sure it's Sam Riegel's voice instead of Reuben's & we're good to go.
Ah, so the character is really just Amaterasu, but with Phoenix Dante there to appease their fans; got it.
I liked it when all those people thought Dante was going to be in because of an unrelated announcement for a Switch port.

I found it odd that there is no Tom Nook spirit being part of the Spirit event? I wonder why.

But it also comes with a lot of other animal crossing spirits. >.>
There are plenty of older AC spirits that can appear during this event too, and Nook isn't one of them.
The reason for that is simple: he's one of the summonable spirits. He does have a spirit battle, but it only starts appearing on the board after you've summoned him once; which is why he isn't part of this event.

Oh yeah. I actually forget that he's a summonable spirits. Yeah that actually make sense now.
Phoenix-Dante will still give Amaterasu access to Judgement Cut Storm and Spiral Swords, so they'll at least be a part of her moveset

Crazy random question: In the hypothetical alternate universe where Sonic was a Nintendo series (but just as successful), what Sonic characters would Smash have?
I see it as Sonic, Eggman, Tails, Knuckles, Shadow (As a clone of Sonic with a couple unique chaos specials), Amy, and Blaze because fuck it, this is really just another in a long line of "Blaze the Cat is the best Sonic character since the end of the Genesis trilogy" posts.
