I wonder how the ARMS stage will incorporate the characters who don't make it into Smash. I'd love to see something dynamic with one-on-one fake fights in the background but I'm expecting to just get the standard poses and waves from the sidelines
I only died twice in that game, one time due to not having a key item needed for the fight and the second because one of the post game bosses just spams summoned enemies and I was too low level to deal with the spam
Do you think this is going to cause an influx of "leakers" who may have been unsure on their sources but got their sources confirmed thanks to the Arms Reveal
I got ARMS as a gift on Christmas 2018. I'd say I've played it in total for about 30-50 hours.

Shadow would be fiiiiiine (as an echo) but you know what smash really needs? another vehicle fighter, specifically one shaped like an Egg
You'd think that they'd just say Spring Man if that was the case, since most would expect him.
Honestly, I'm surprised they went with ARMS, as they start Vol. 2. I thought they would have went with a more out-there choice to boost sales of the pass. I'm still not going to get the pass until I know exactly who it is.
For real, he was so robbed from being an echo in the base roster, honestly the only reason I can see for not adding such an obvious pick would be if Sega said no.
i know it's different because pikachu is pikachu but we got 4 whole ass pokemon before a single starter in smash so it's not totally impossible for the inclusion to not be the protagonist

I agree, but to be fair, we are kind in uncharted territory here.
Like sure, putting in anyone that isn't the mascot would be breaking the "rule"...but in order to do that, we have to break down the Assist Trophy "rule" as well. So either way, we have some unprecedented moves happening here.

Not necessarily -- especially if Spring Man has alts or an echo.
Either way, you'd be breaking a rule (spirits, assist trophies, protag-first, etc.). As TheDinoman said, we're in uncharted territory.

I wonder if ARMs talk will manage to fill Smash discussion enough for 3 months or if we'll get so bored of ARMs talk that we'll go back to arguing about Resident Evil or whatever
I think the major difference here is that ARMS is a new series, a fighting game without any real narrative, and no default playable character. You don't even play as Spring Man in the "learn to play" section, they let you choose whichever character you want.
Like, fighting games often run on different rules. Characters like Heihachi, Scorpion, and Morrigan aren't the protagonist, but they're clearly the "faces" of those series.
If/when ARMS 2 is released, we could easily see Spring Man getting the "technically the protagonist but no longer the central character" treatment as well.
I like how ARMs will fill the hole in my heart left by Punch Out not getting the sixty remixes of one single song that the series has

I mean, the characters are pretty damn different from one another. Maybe that could work for Spring Man & Ribbon Girl, possibly Ninjara as well. But the others have enough quirks to where that idea wouldn't fit.
Eggman would be cool, but personally still prefer Tails or Shadow.
I actually think it'll be Sky Arena, regardless of who the character is. You can put the other characters in the background, everyone goes to that stage anyway for the final boss fight, & it has a chance at being a tournament-legal stage.
There are 4-5 characters that have roughly the same body type. That's plenty for alts
I would think Snake Park: It would be like Spiral Mountain and it rotates but there are the little snake platforms that you can ride on
