It's been out for almost a day now in Japan (US eShop was one of the last regions to get it, only 6 hours ago though; but who cares). Still weird that there aren't many impressions lying around yet.
And I had to go back to Page 4 to find a thread on it. That's odd, right?

I think Nintendo is just the publisher. It was developed by Tarsier (the studio behind Little Nightmares).
With the new update, has the online battles been improve with the new improvements made to the Battle Arena?

Not really, the new options are nice but are pretty minor in the grand scheme of things and aren't quite the kind of stuff you would really want. It's kind of baffling to me that they didn't incorporate the new invite friend feature the Switch has, though maybe it wasn't available in time

Hard to say. I'd guess 4-5. They wouldn't announce it as early as September if it was only 2, I don't think.
Probably enough for at least one more year of support.
3. At launch the game was data-mined to show WOL had space for up to 16 new characters. This would fit in 3 Fighter Passes plus Piranha Plant.
Honestly, I see no reason why Travis couldn't be the fifth fighter. This idea, that I've commonly seen in this thread, that the audience of TGA (if we're assuming that's when fighter 5 is revealed) have about as much VG knowledge as my mother, that they'd barely recognise any character not called Super Mario, is rather daft. It's a gaming show, one would expect the audience to have some VG knowledge that they can broadly recognise most main characters.
The general consensus seems to be that we'll get at least another 5 characters. Beyond that? No idea.

I really hope that we would get 5 characters in Wave 2; regardless of Fighter Pass #2 or not. Also I hope that Sakurai would able to fill out all slots in WoL and Attack Param (which had 16 slots) so that meant 10 more characters after 5th Fighter Pass 1 character and it's enough to split into Fighter Pass 2 and Fighter Pass 3.
Fighter Pass 2 (or Wave 2) need to sold very well at the point that it's enough to support Fighter Pass 3 (or Wave 3).
I fucking love it. His Final Smash is ridiculous!

Not really but it's safer to bet on two more characters after Fighter Pass #1 since they said fighterS coming to us after Fighter Pass 1
A number of people seem to act like we're going to get another fighters pass (or at least the same number of characters as the fighters pass). But we'll definitely need confirmation first. (A shame Nintendo seems to be waiting to give us these details.)

As a general note, most of the videos posted by this account use the Turbo Mod (allowing you to cancel any attacks with another attack) and isn't an accurate representative of actual Ultimate play.
