Y'all were talking about stupid Japanese titles, how about one of the dopest ones of all time.

SNK's Last Blade 2 has a pretty generic name in English, but its name in Japanese is Bakumatsu Rouman Dai Ni Maku: Gekka no Kenshi - Tsuki ni Saku Hana, Chiri Yuku Hana

It translates to:

"Romance of the End of the Shogunate:
The Swordsman of Moonlight -
Flowers that blossom on the moon,
Flowers that scatter on the ground"

... and in Japanese the subtitle is a haiku.

Phase 2 of the fighter popularity poll is now open.

In phase 2, you submit a ranking of the available nominations. This is not something your typical online form is supposed to handle, especially with these numbers. There are two ways around this.

The easy way is that you go here, come up with a ranking and copy the nonsensoleum code that the page will spit out at you into the actual submission form. The hard way, which I don't recommend unless your browser cannot handle the easy way because I screwed it up (reports appreciated), is that you take the list of available options - either from the easy way page or from fixed-order copy below - think about ordering them any way you want, then you take two-character codes corresponding to the characters in order and stuff them into the actual submission form.

Please note that the amount of options is nontrivial and coming up with a satisfying ranking may take you significant amount of time.

As a further experiment, a separate link is included that I'm fine with being shared outside. Primarily because if it will fill up, the other form will be unaffected.

Definitely not going to include anything from Sabi/Verge for sure but I haven't decided if it's for all predicted characters or just smash trailers countdown.

Is sorting a giant ordered list really going to give good results?

Like, I'm probably just going to sort the top 5 or so and leave the rest because I really don't care and have no preference for 90% of these characters

Ranked voting is preferable to first past the post but this stretches the merits of when ranked voting is appropriate.

Again, it's just marketing. If they have a bunch of larger announcements like a BOTW2 trailer, a 2D Metroid reveal, and other stuff versus an Arle reveal, then they'd probably be a bit more likely to stick with the bigger announcements and can hold Smash back for a different day. It just depends on what they have to announce beyond Smash or if Smash is going to be positioned as "the big Nintendo reveal" like it was last year. While I think Geoff would always entertain a Smash reveal, if Nintendo has other big announcements that are prime TGA material versus a less widely recognized Smash character, I can see how they might not want to play their full hand all at once and hold back on Smash for a bit.

Why does it matter that a character is shown at TGA when there's no fixed limit on what Nintendo can show there (a 4 min trailer will not eat into the overall schedule; and its smash) and the fact that if they're running short of events next year to showcase the next pack? (Character 1 in first direct; character 2/3 in E3, character 4 in second direct and character 5 in TGA).
It doesn't make sense to wait even if the last character isn't a crowd pleaser. They still haven't even revealed what's next.

And by that logic doesn't it make sense to throw the "least-hype" character at the end, during the tailend of the dlc period? You want to push the most popular characters out first to sell the pack.

In phase 2, you submit a ranking of the available nominations. This is not something your typical online form is supposed to handle, especially with these numbers. There are two ways around this.

The easy way is that you go here, come up with a ranking and copy the nonsensoleum code that the page will spit out at you into the actual submission form. The hard way, which I don't recommend unless your browser cannot handle the easy way because I screwed it up (reports appreciated), is that you take the list of available options - either from the easy way page or from fixed-order copy below - think about ordering them any way you want, then you take two-character codes corresponding to the characters in order and stuff them into the actual submission form.

Please note that the amount of options is nontrivial and coming up with a satisfying ranking may take you significant amount of time.

As a further experiment, a separate link is included that I'm fine with being shared outside. Primarily because if it will fill up, the other form will be unaffected.
