Why would anyone extrapolate vague hints to point towards their preferred character?

If there's one thing I'm eternally grateful of over the course of this entire speculation cycle, it's that Sakurai has better ideas for characters than the fans do.
Because at one point this was going to be the final DLC fighter (before they decided to do more post-FP DLC). So this was basically their "last chance" to get one of their characters in.

The worst case for me would be Cinderace. We got a fire starter in the base roster and it'd just feel redundant even if their gimmicks are different.

The only option on this list I really like is the non-Fire Starter Pokémon rep, and that's only if we assume that means not a starter, period.
All the Mario characters I want have been Spirited.

Ehhhh, I feel like Sword/Shield is probably out the window thanks to the spirit event. Even if there are more options, why burn them now if a Gen 8 rep is on the horizon?

GameXplain have kept changing their predictions for FP5 (maybe minus Jon, Rex Pyra is probably him), but this one is weird.

If you want an aggressive prediction then that GameExplain vid is bunk and 1st party is completely off the table... and if it is one I invite someone to make a fugly ass avi of whoever it is and I will don it in shame.

Why do y'all reckon they went with this reveal strategy this time around, by the way? They could easily have either revealed the character earlier or just waited until next month and shadow-dropped it, but they're going with the "it's a mystery!" spectacle probably less than a month from release, instead. They just want to mix it up?
