The characters seem somewhat plausible from a promotional standpoint, but I don't think the leak itself is legitimate. There's no way that somebody would know why all of the DLC characters were chosen and when they're going to be revealed.

The reveal is a good point but nothing about the tie in games was very out there.
Doom Eternal is already revealed, everyone knows that minecraft sells like hot cakes in japan, Dragon Quest has been set to launch for the switch before we even knew the switch would be named switch and Persona had registered those url a long time ago

The rumor could be busted as soon as we get Joker's stage if it's not Mementoes.

So here's hoping that comes sooner rather then latter.

Is there any reason why the casino wouldn't be chosen? It's the only location that comes to mind when I think of Persona 5 as a casual observer.

Actually same here as the game starts there. I guess Mementos would make sense with the morgana bus as a stage hazard though let's say.

If you're using gmail, perhaps trying searching is:important.
thanks, I guess I maybe deleted it from my actual web gmail account, but I dont remember doing so. But at home, it was still in my desktop mail app. so I found it.

For what it is worth, Email subject line is
"Thanks for your purchase of the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate game "

This is my stance as well.

Most smash rumors that turn out true are just lists or dropped with no teasing or anything. And all the fake rumors give incredibly detailed explanations of whatever they have along with reasoing for why they where selected.

New Sakruai column, in which he talks about playing a ton of Dragon Quest Builders 2. Obviously it doesn't mean anything for sure, buuuut....
https://nintendoeverything.com/saku...sh-bros-ultimate-creating-entertainment-more/

He also mentions having played Judgement, which means absolutely nothing, but I'm still going to use it as an excuse to hope for Kiryu in Smash anyway.

The thought of Sakurai playing Smash at home like the rest of us just gives me the Fuzzies (not the Yoshi's Island kind).

Also we must be getting pretty close to the Plant's release, which is incredibly exciting

I wonder when PP arrives if there'll be any new data for people to gather in the files?
Probably, based on the Smash 4 updates (where we knew about almost everything from the E3 2015 presentation before it aired). They always mess up on something while removing in-development stuff from patches.

I just hope stuff doesn't leak through music or victory themes this time. That makes it boring.

I wonder if Nintendo will make a 20th Anniversary Smash Logo to go along with any Smash Directs/Smash reveals. I know it's not important, but it would be cool to see.

I think the only super detailed rumor that ended up true was the Dragoon post back on GameFAQs during the Brawl hype cycle. The guy even had long, drawn out argument with one of the mods even about it.

There was one Reddit leak back in September (that a lot of people ignored) from a tester for Ultimate who detailed some stuff about Incineroar and Piranha Plant. I'll try to find it (since I haven't seen many people bring it up).

EDIT: Found it, here.
EDIT 2: He posted a bunch more stuff elsewhere. Here are his other posts:
I'm surprised the SmashWiki leaks page is completely missing this one.

Yeah, there's just no way that all five fighters will be known by E3, as that rumor says. It's reasonable to think that Nintendo wants that hype train to go all year long.

Any chance of a Resident Evil rep do you think? There are multiple RE games coming to Switch this year, albeit ports.

I think they'll announce the last DLC fighter at the end of this year, similar to Cloud's or Bayonetta's reveal. But they won't wrap it up sooner.

If there's going to be more Capcom reps, I think Monster Hunter is on top of the list. I don't see RE happening because of that.
Now if Capcom would just make a Nintendo vs Capcom, we could see some RE cross-over with Nintendo.

Do anyone still think that we could get new modes through the updates?
Possibly, but i'm not getting my hopes up for anything major. If we do get additional modes, I am really hoping for:
  • Home-Run Contest and Target Blast (might as well bring back the latter if the former is also included).
  • More Mob Smash Modes: Decade Smash (10-Man), 3-Minute Smash, Rival Smash.
  • Master Hand Mob Smash mode; taken directly from the end of WoL
  • Master Hand Special Smash; up-to seven players against one Master Hand player
I would also want to see stuff like Break the Targets, Stage Builder and Smash Run, but none of those are going to happen.

The general feeling is still that Piranha Plant is coming with the 2.00 update, right? They'd have to announce what's going on with that update pretty soon I'd think.

We'll probably end up knowing a bit about what the update includes before Nintendo officially reveals it themselves. Keep any eye out for any updates from this site / twitter account, as they'll post about it as soon as Nintendo uploads the next news post to their server.

I hope so -- much as I dig Spirits and Classic Mode, the relative lack of Solo offerings's been bumming me out.
Agreed.

Sakurai is a hero and one of the hardest working people in the industry. I love Smash Ultimate, it's Smash played like perfection to me. I love the roster, the level selection, it's an incredible selection.

But the single player offerings outside of Spirits, is a huge bummer. Once you hit the wall in that mode, it's sad to not have modes that have been present in the series since Melee and in one case, since the N64.

Let's see what they do. Maybe we'll see a return of Homerun Contest, Targets or Platforms?

...or my personal dream, Smash Run. But I know that will never happen.

My sentiments to a T. I feel almost guilty saying there's not enough content with everything they've already poured into, but there's a genuine thought of "there's nothing to do" whenever I venture into Games and More. I get All-Star being integrated into Mob Smash was their fool-proof method of DLC accommodation, but it doesn't have a patch on the previous iteration.

People ragged on Smash 4's Solo stuff, but with everything from Trophy Studio to Crazy Orders, I was never left wanting for more. Between this and some My Music tuning, I think DLC can go a long way here. Even some additional Mob Smash modes would be appreciated.

(Goddamn, do I miss Smash Run, though.)

They skirted around making a realistic knife and gun character with Snake, I'm not sure how they would manage with RE.
Would love at least spirits though, feels weird to have no rep considering how huge RE4 was on Gamecube.

Yeah, I just wonder they wouldn't able to finish some contents due to their deadline since characters, stages, spirits and adventure mode seems to be the top priorities for them to focus on. I just wonder if they are interested to finishing up those contents or just leave them as cut like they did with certain contents for last few iterations.

This is not firmware, and they're pushing that 2.0.0 front and center. It's reasonable to expect something sizable in it. Is there something sizable that's more likely other than PP? I don't think so. Is such a thing even possible? Yes it is. They can add a mode or revive vectoring.

So, likely but nowhere close to assured.

I only played lot of single player modes like Home-Run Contest to unlock challenges. I have no motivation to play them beyond that. Their absense isn't that big a deal.

It does seem like they did cut some stuff (if anyone remembers my pre-release discoveries from the spoiler thread) but i'm not sure if they'll revisit any of it.

I feel the exact same way.

Unless the came with Spirits for doing them, I probably wouldn't bother if they did add them.

Except for Boss Rush. I'd for sure play that a bunch.

I personally didn't like Home Run Contest due to being bad at it and only touched it when feeling like doing the challenges. But that was specifically Home Run Contest. I liked to play old Classic, Smash Run, even StreetSmash and Trophy Rush.

They could honestly do an RE character as an echo of Snake and it would fit for the most part.

There are ways to make an RE character Smash appropriate. Capcom themselves proved that the RE cast would fit in a fighting game as far back as MvC2. They just need to be like Snake in terms of weapon selection (i.e.: Things other than just guns) and have moves that reflect the identity of the series.

I've posted my ideas before, but a Resident Evil character could 100% work without guns. It's just a matter of Nintendo/Sakurai wanting to include a Resident Evil character.

Yeah the fact that the game doesn't have any sort of boss rush or even just an easy way to rechallenge bosses is weird.
I think they consider the boss rush during the final level of World of Light good enough. Still, a more complete boss rush (with the hands, Galeem and Dharkon) would be appreciated.

Besides, the part that I want to replay more than the bosses is the Master Hand Mob Smash.

I have to imagine that even if it's not released the same day as the update, the completed data for it will most likely be in there. It'd be a tad weird if they did a second update just to add him in afterward.

I mean when I think a boss rush mode I think of something you can select from a menu like Brawl.

Not the second stage of a three stage fight at the very end of story mode.

Ideally, I'd change the Mob Smash menu on the Games and More section to be "Stadium" with three sections in a sub menu

> Stadium Games
>> Home Run Contest
>> Target Blast
>> Race to the Finish (single player minigame)

> Mob Smash (Basically, just move the previous top level menu to be within another menu)
>> Century Smash
>> All Star Smash
>> Cruel Smash

> World of Light (greyed out until you beat WoL)
>> Boss Rush
>> Master Hand Smash

And add another page to the challenges board (which we know they can do, the online challenge board was added in 1.1) for Stadium challenges
