Is a loose/wobbly rail fit even fixable? It strikes me as something that'll just happen naturally as the plastic erodes and warps.

Complete disaster, they are so bad I cant even believe how is happening since I only have like 14 months with them.

Severe joy con drifting in both, SR and SL buttons not working, almost dropped my Switch once since the attachments are loose on both easily going out.

Im not using them anymore since luckily the switch accepts many type of controllers and I also have the Magic NS adapter but Pokemon is killing me since only joycons work and it keeps registering weird moves in battles. I love nintendo but they really dropped the ball here!

Doing fine. The righr joycon has syncing problems sometimes. I thought it was a hardware problem untill I got a second one. I think an update for the controller did it but i'm not sure.

It's slightly comforting knowing I haven't been the only one experiencing drifting and other defects. :/

I noticed it first when Link decided to jump off a cliff on his own in BotW, which freaked me out. Afterwards, the occurrences became for frequent - ARMS couldn't register left punches, my aim would be jerky in Fortnite and more recently, my character would automatically charge up Smash attacks in SSBU but never letting go. That last one is particularly painful for Classic Mode runs.

How did you guys fix the issue? Do I have to take it apart or can I use a Q-tip or cloth or whatever to try to clean it?

my launch joy-cons are holding up perfectly. I played like 120 hours of Zelda, 50 hours of Warframe and..I think I've 50 games for the switch, so I played it A LOT

my wifes joy-cons are also looking and feeling perfect. she got her switch in august 2017.

Just after Hollow Knight came out my left joycon started to slide out of the rail when attached to the Switch without having to press the small button to release it, I have only played the Switch in handheld mode a couple of times and I look after all my stuff meticulously (OCD) so this was obviously a warranty issue so called Nintendo about it and they refused to replace under warranty and even tried to charge me to return my faulty joycon back so I called consumer affairs and they gave me some advice (basically said Nintendo needed to cover under warranty), so spoke to Nintendo again and they said they wouldn't replace/fix the joycon but said they would send the joycon back at their expense. I was already getting a bit disinterested in their stuff as it is and this recent experience was the nail in the coffin so I don't think I will ever buy anything Nintendo ever again (until Pikmin 4 lol).

We have 4 sets of joycons in the house since launch day and they are all fine with no issues. I guess we are lucky?

I play 99% of my Switch in handheld mode and they're holding up reasonably well.

The grey pair thebsystem came with feel a little more wiggly or flexy, but not too bad. The yellow pair I have feels a tiny bit sturdier.

I'm kinda hoping the Switch redesign next year might have a sturdier connection solution for Joycons. Even though they aren't bad for me, I'd still like them to be rock solid.

No issues with drifting sticks or wonky buttons though, they work perfectly other than the slight flex while connected to the system.

My left one is super creaky one my Switch. Really bugs me since I hold my Switch so gently in handheld mode.

My left one occasionally disconnects if it's more than 1m away from the Switch, so damn near useless outside of handheld mode, glad I got a pro controller.

Left Joycon on the bundle i bought like ... 6 months post launch has some drift :(

No idea when that happened - because some games seem to default to a bigger deadzone than others (StarLink has practically zero deadzone)

Joycon drift doesn't usually bother me, but it's a problem when playing Fortnite since it throws my aim off at the worst moments. When it gets annoying I give them a spritz of compressed air and that fixes things for a month or so. Don't know why people are buying replacements or fixing them when the solution is much easier.

Left joycon is drifting, responsible for multiple deaths in Dark Soul where I fall off edges in Blight Town.... damn.
Not impressed at all, I had the console for less than a year.

Have 4 joycons since day 1, not really experiencing any problems with either. A friend came over a few days ago said he experienced that the left stick floated a bit.. but havnt been able to re-create that so I'm going to assume it was handling error by my friend ;P

After experiencing breaking latches twice - just from soft hits to the console - the latest replacement parts mounted (from december 2017) have resisted all damage.

Seemingly, Nintendo have upgraded the latch replacement part, or something, since they really do seem more durable now. (I received service from an NoE distributor, the danish one, Bergsala.)

Mind condition, as I don't touch them.

When I do play, I use the pro controller. I have zero need for the portable portion of this hybrid.

My joycons started drifting months ago, luckily my switch was still barely on warranty so I could send them to Nintendo, and they repaired both.

Tried to play smash with my joycons but the left one has connectivity problems and sometimes don't recognize inputs. Lame because I've barely used them since I have a pro controller I use the most.

Both of my sticks have been fine, and none of the buttons are sticking or anything like that. I am having an issue with my Left Joycon where it doesn't fully latch onto the side of my Switch, so it'll slide up a tiny bit and can probably be taken off the entire thing if I applied enough force.
I also had this issue. I believe my issue was caused by incorrectly inserting the joycon strap pieces. It wore down the plastic lock. I actually sent my joycons in to get repaired and they fixed them perfectly. Will not use joycon straps ever again.

Dust keeps getting in my left joy con stick so I have to keep cleaning it with my nails but maybe i should use a q-tip now.

Had to send the right joy con for desyncing issues and ended up getting a brand new one instead lol

I noticed my joycons slipping a little on the side of my Switch when playing in handheld mode. Hope it doesn't get worse...

Same and launch system as well. I just use the joycons in handheld or tablet mode, and pro controller or GameCube controller for tv. I play handheld 90% of the time anyway.
That's my problem with the left one. It did get worse. I bought a hori d-pad joycon, I was worried my Switch would fall out of my hands because of this.

Sl and sr buttons are dead in my right joycon, I need to fix that when I have time. The green led doesn't either.
The left joycon is becoming unstable in handheld mode.

Overall, "shit" is how I would describe the quality of this controller. It's unfortunate because I love the concept.

pair that came with the system stopped being able to click, started drifting to a ridiculous degree and the right side rail flexed a lot. i have no idea what my younger brother did to them but they are screwed.

Not having any drifting but sometimes in handheld mode it's as if the physical connection is not tight anymore it will often disconnect and prompt me to press the L and R buttons

the analog stick on my right joycon snapped in half recently. When I first got the Switch the thing was in poor shape (R3 didn't work) but I never bothered replacing it because I usually use the pro controller.

edit: by "snapped in half" I mean the stem broke. It's not salvageable cause it broke at the base.

Both my sticks drifted pretty badly but I fixed them up with a can of compressed air squirted under the dust skirts of the sticks (use tweezers to push up the soft plastic skirting at the stem of the stick and then squirt air inside from different angles)

No issues since!

Besides they look rough, they still work fine and no drifting.

Worth mentioning though that few months ago SL and SR buttons stopped working as well as the LED light on the right joycon, i had to send it to Nintendo but they were very quick with the repair.

The joy-cons are insanely poor quality. It took 6 months of very light use for my left joy con to start drifting severely. I sent it in for repair and they sent it back saying that there was no issue, but now it works again so they clearly fixed/cleaned it under warranty. Now it's probably only a matter of time before it happens again...

Imagine if these shit-sticks were an actual integrated part of the system, the horror.

They really need to fix this issue going forward. The price they ask for these is ridiculous given the garbage build quality, or perhaps rather glaring design flaw.

Left stick has drift and no longer able to click into. Can't play anything that uses L3 so I can't play zelda.
