Yeah. The games list I saw was referencing Overwatch. Didn't specify at the time whether the game was going to be on the floor or a behind closed-doors showing.

By no means! Just wanted the context to be made known. I'm no insider, and happened to have a co-worker who knew someone working a position that might have access to Nintendo's e3 list.

Weren't you right about 2 metroid gamea being shown at e3?

We're still getting Bloodstained regardless. Me, I'm happy to see Konami take a different approach to the series, as long as it turns out better than Lords of Shadow 2 apparently did (and I'm one of those weirdos who liked Mirror of Fate - come at me!).

I still believe they should keep with the original 2D approach. But nothing forbids them to have the same approach as we see in Metroid. You get a first person adventurer, sometimes a side-scrolling action game and there's room even for even a new style like a third-view action game. I can see it working beautifully.

Was hoping that Square Enix game would turn out to be Sleepy Dogs, but I see the claim has changed to being a property that has been on a Nintendo system before.
I'd lie if I'd say I wasn't a bit disappointed.

The Switch hype cycle is like a fever dream now, but I do remember this gem.
Blast from the past.

These crazy rumors is part of what made the Switch presentation a big disappointment. There were so many rumors of the Switch having the best ever collection of Launch games, that the actual initial line-up was just Zelda and filler.

Still. Port X one day, would love to dive back into that one.

Love it! Will rumours be updated in OP or just through the thread?

I would rather if people just posted their rumors like they normally would and not in this thread.

The point of this thread is not for people to post their rumors, because then the thread would get 50-100 pages over one silly rumor and then it would get locked. The point is to have an archive or old and new rumors and if they have been confirmed or not.

I have to admit I laughed to see that I'm labeled as my Twitter account in the OP.

I can fix that if you want. Which one is you?

I'll never forget the Mother 3 release reports from Eurogamer and Emily.

But Switch's launch year is indeed one of the best ever.

My pet peeve with some fans is they get delusions of grandeur and can't see the forest from the trees and we all have to suffer through their meltdowns and constant negativity after an event.

These still hurt so bad. Seeing all of these rumors (and assuming they're real) you can really see that Nintendo is sitting in a shit-ton of stuff to prevent the WiiU draughts.

Just give us a proper VC, and why not, Mother 3 (or should we say: Earthbound 2?)

I now see the dangers of my thread getting locked by thread derails.

I want to let people know that the thread is NOT to post new rumors. Anyone that wants to post new rumors can post them like they would normally do (on other threads/twitter/reddit/etc). I will then add them to the archive once they have been verified or gained traction.

I know it's only a matter of time before someone posts a rumor about some high profile game coming to Switch to increase the thread to 200 pages before getting it locked. I want to avoid that.

Nintendo Europe has sent out this survey about which Switch games will you be buying within twelve months.

Bayonetta 3 and Pokémon RPG for Nintendo Switch (untitled) both appear as options.

Preorders can still count as purchases, I'm assuming. I'd imagine both Bayo 3 and Pokémon will be shown within the next 12 months, which means they should be available for preorder by then too. I wouldn't read too much into that when it comes to potential release timing.

Like everyone even borderline reputable has mentioned Mother 3 at some point so either it's a fake tidbit Nintendo spreads around to smoke out leakers or they're holding it hostage for the online like I assume is happening for the rest of VC.

My guess: Mother 3 would have happened with the release of Virtual Console, but Virtual Console is never coming out after the SNES and NES Classic so RIP Mother 3.

Bayo 3 is already up for preorders basically everywhere, and so is Metroid that is absent from that list.

At the very least, another game in the style of Castlevania Rebirth would be just fine by me. Just give us a CV3 remake using the Netflix anime as a base.

I definitely think Virtual Console, at least how we're used to seeing it, is dead. It just seems inevitable that they'll tie its successor into their online service and they don't seem to be in a hurry to show any part of that.

Sounds like Thursday's announcement won't be the time either. My guess would be E3. It's where the original VC service was unveiled.

That wouldn't make sense because the classic consoles only have 30 or so games, the snes had more than 30 games

So we are stuck with that limited amount forever?

If they would have offered an online store on the nes or snes Classic that offered all of them then I could see how that would have killed the VC but there isnt

The real answer is that they are holding Mother 3 back for the Mother 4 announcement.

Announcement of the online service and VC go hand-in-hand I think. No way that waits until E3. It can't.

I'd expect that stuff to appear in a proper direct though a short video highlighting the features like the switch reveal trailer could also work with maybe more info in said proper direct.

Why not? It would make sense to roll it out with a big multiplayer title and they don't have one scheduled before E3.

No one's forcing Nintendo to do anything they don't want to do, especially now when they're killing it. They've got plenty of time.

To delay their online stuff even further (because you know if they talk about it at E3 it wouldn't roll out until after that) would be a mess. For a service that was supposed to launch last year, then combined with the app mess, no one really has faith in their online service. And the longer they go saying nothing, the less confident people get.

Counterpoint: the longer they take to prep the service, the better shape it'll be in when it actually launches.

Also, no one's buying a Nintendo console because of their online service.

So much wrong

The one that was always weird to me was the whole Zelda delay and Mario at launch rumors. Those never made a lick of sense. Zelda had been shown over and over. Playable at E3, more gameplay footage at the game awards, it was the game that Jimmy Fallon demo'd on The Tonight Show. That was never gonna miss launch for a game we had seen 5 seconds of with less than 2 months to go till launch

So bad.

Everything wrong except Just Dance being a launch game, and Sonic.

And Sonic Forces (then known as Project Sonic 2017) had been announced months before for Switch. It was announced for NX as a matter of fact.
If she had said Sonic Mania, then that would've been something cause that wasn't confirmed for Switch until after the presentation.

The point is, going as far as midway through the second year of the console's life cycle to figure out your online service is a joke in this day and age.
