Damn, I'm too enamored by my switch that I'm going to stomach 30fps outside of battles.

I remember the game starting to chug in battle when too many artes were thrown out, especially the final boss. Hopefully they can keep it locked this time.

Hope we'll get a port or definitive edition of Symphonia after this, and then Abyss after that.

And nope, that garbage 30fps port of Symphonia for PC and PS3 does not count.

I hope that "VFR" on Steam isn't something to worry about. Any chance the PC version is locked to 30 fps outside of battle?

It's possible, I suppose, but given that the chart clearly labels in-battle vs. out-of-battle FPS for the other platforms, I think you can assume that VFR means "there is no FPS cap anywhere in the game," rather than "the FPS cap is different for battles versus elsewhere, but we're not telling you what the caps are" or "parts of the game are uncapped and other parts are not."

I wish it was 60 FPS field on Switch, would be nice to have it portable but I always try to play my Switch outside my house but I end up never doing that so I may just get the PS4 version for the 60 FPS overall...

Decisions, decisions.

I don't understand why 30FPS on the field is even important in a Tales game, rarely anything happens there to justify anything better. Combat is where is at.

It's important in every game for everything because it just looks and plays worse.

No, just no. 30FPS on the field never affected anything in previous Tales games so I don't see why is anything different here.

(Seriously, are you going to worry that you're going to get caught by the rather slow monsters on the field?).

Cutscenes and visual elements esp. in towns should look better and feel a bit smoother.

Well, cutscenes were not even mentioned.

Any sort of movement or camera motion at 30fps is noticeably slow

Hmm, I was planning to go with the Xbox One version to match my original 1000/1000 achievements on the original game. Might try the PS4 version though to see what the 60FPS outside of battle looks like. Can't say I really expected a difference on the base consoles.

Well it just says inside battle and outside battle, not "field" specifically. I assume outside battle also extends to cutscenes.

It's ridiculous how the Xbox version is the same as the switch resolution and framerate. That alone screams half-assed. The no X and Pro support seals the deal.

My excitement died quickly. I hope people with the base Xbox and midgen consoles don't reward lazyness and quick cash grab attempts like this.

Switch physical is mine. PC later for cheap digital. But I guess they will use Denuvo again. So I will pay like 5€ max for the PC release.

Well, it has been common opinion during most entries in the series.

(Aside from Zestiria but then again, that was poorly optimized as a whole).
When that is the only option sure. It is fine but just knowing that a better version exist on another console I own makes me consider the PS4 version over the Switch version. One of the people you originally replied to said they try to play their switch outside but end up not doing it. If you play your switch only in TV mode than the PS4 is the clear winner. I wouldn't blame people who play handheld if they went for the Switch version either. I myself am a bit torn on which version I should get.

Expected, except for Xbox being a bit below par.

I'll be playing Switch undocked so I'm happy with native res and original framerares.

I mean, I'd probably be more concerned if this was like Xillia/Zestiria/Berseria where they started to actually do things in the in game cutscenes.

But Vesperia though? Nah, I'm not going to trip over in game scenes that are mostly party members standing stiff still, maybe doing a canned hand movement here or there, or maybe Yuri lobs an offscreen slow ass hadoken at someone

I could and maybe should get this for PS4, but I'm in such a Switch mentality lately that there's a decent chance that'll be my pick.

No enhancements? What the fuck?

What's going on with Japanese remasters that doesn't have an Pro or X enhancement lately. That's so stupid.

I had the switch version pre ordered already, I don't mind it being 30 fps out of the battlefield as long as its 60 in battle. Ill probably end up buying the pc version as well. I can't pass up Tales on the go though.

Surprised at the Switch specs. It was my goto choice but seeing 60GPS for battles isn't quite bad. The Switch has become my defacto 3rd party machine where I can game. Gaming on TV as you get older with kids, family, work gets harder and harder.

There should be a poll for platform of choice to play this game on. I'm genuinely curious, lol.
