actually apparently there's something in the post game town now that was originally added in the PS3 version that lets you re-do boss fights(and get secret missions if you missed them)

Yeah, that will alleviate some of that.

All Titles is still super easily missed though. That covers things like having all weapons (some weapons are literally sold in a town once, you leave and can't get them again), stuff like that. Vesperia is a minefield of missables.

I want this on Switch since I like the idea of being both portable and docked but, PS4 has 60fps all day. I might wait since I can't decide.

I think the release snuck up on people (definitely did for me), but it's still a game that a lot of people have been looking forward to for a long time.

Just as a heads up for the boss refights thing, it's on Nam Cobanda Isle and you have to talk to a kid standing in the back of the place in a cow costume. Lets you re-fight any boss with a secret mission attached to it but charges you 300 chips (Which you can buy with gald) per fight. You can re-do these to do the secret missions and get the trophies for them, and they also counts towards Yuri's True Knight costume.

If for whatever reason, you don't have said bosses in your bestiary, you can Magic Lens 'em in the refights and add them then, as well.

The PS4 version does sound like the most stable. If I get it, I'll regret not being able to play portably, and vice versa.

Should I just get this on PS4 if I were just going to mostly play docked on Switch? Is the gameplay really that much worse in the Switch version?

Finally back home.

Can't wait to finally play this game in English.

Having never owned a 360, I sadly missed out on this excellent entry. I ended up purchasing the PS3 version at a convention.

This was the first JRPG I almost played all the way through in Japanese with help from a walkthrough that translated the story and dialogue on Something Awful forums. The story and characters and gameplay was just that good.

Is the Switch version running badly compared to the other versions or just bad in general because I only have a Switch..

Sure thing, this is what I threw together. It was made for an IPS screen so its got increased contrast, but also general clarity/sharpness.

Downloads reshade, use the tool on Vesperia and select DX10+. Download all the shaders when they prompt you. In game, Press home key and load that INI file I linked.
Got a VA panel (4k TV) but I'll give your profile a shot, thanks.

Aside from the one weird retcon, it's a pretty solid movie as far as game adaptation go.

I watched that movie and thought the same before I played the japanese version on PS3.

After I played through the game...oh man I think that movie's awful now because of one scene at the end.

Flynn straight-up attacking that dude at the end, even if he was responsible for everything, goes completely against his entire character in Vesperia.

I've seen some people not like the performance while others are saying that it is fine. I think the issue is that the frame rate isn't capped. At some parts the frame rate can sway between 50 to 60 FPS. Some people are more sensitive to that while others are not.

Isn't it an eShop issue where they update in the morning outside of big releases? So complaining to BN probably isn't the best course of action.

how is the save system in this game?

I stopped playing Symphonia because I couldn't play that one in short burts and save satations were painfully far from one another, and random battle were way too often

I don't really buy full releases digitally so I'm probably misinformed, but isn't it generally rare for non Nintendo published releases to unlock at midnight? I know Namco Bandai stuff at the least usually unlocks in the afternoon on the eShop.

Wait so there is no pro or x enhancements? Steam the only way to get higher res?

Are there even new games released these days without any pro enhancements? Guess some indies

Made it out of the first city. Christ, I don't remember Zagi being that hard in the castle!

I forgot how charming Vesperia's opening hour is. Estelle is a gem. Glad I picked this up, I was worried a bit of the magic would be gone and I'd regret not waiting for a sale.

edit: wait, WTF is New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe available but not Tales of Vesperia? what the crap Nintendo?

Just put in 4 hours and I'm enjoying this just as much as back in the day!
Hopefully they can release a patch soon on Steam to fix the stutters.

Same here! Did you figure out?

I saw something about disabling controllers to enable keyboard and mouse to get past it on the steam forum. Supposedly saving would fix the issue. I tried this but after reconnecting my controller to resume the game still wasn't recognizing my controller input for some reason. I haven't figured this out yet, but maybe the steam forum has more info now.

I'[m using a DS4 via DS4Windows.

Picked it up for PC. Certain older games don't feel right to me on new hardware. There's some kind of jarring effect because they run too well but still feel old.

I think I may just grab it on Switch. Any performance issues will almost feel appropriate for the age of the game.

AFAIK, it runs better than we first thought because the game was supposed to be locked at 30fps out of battles (it's 60fps there), but it ended up having unlocked framerate ranging between 40-50fps out of battles, which is much better imo.
