Been meaning to give this a listen, and while I've heard the hosts' advice to 'pick an episode I'm familiar with' I also want to know from the audience if there are any ones I absolutely need to find first.

This is a good place to ask - I'm looking for a book I had as a youngster - it covered each episode up until the Bart-Lisa boot camp episode, so at the time it had a LOT of seasons covered.

There were quotes, pictures of important characters from the episode, explanations of references and every single gag involving a sign was properly explained.

What was this book??

Personally I️ think who shot mr burns episodes 1 and 2 are must listens. They're the peak of the show (both simpsons and the podcast) in my opinion. Plus it has all three of the original host. The more recent episodes have been solid as well but the quality jumps around a bit depending on the guest. I️ do think the one going up next week for non patrons would also be a great first episode, the day the violence died. Otherwise just start from whatever's earliest in the free feed (I️ think season 1 might still be behind the Patreon feed)

Thanks! I don't live in US so Patreon-based productions aren't always the easiest shows I'm able to support, the Futurama episodes are what really interest me.

I'll check them out.

This is the book you had:

However, you don't want that anymore. This is what you want:

We didn't have "take your daughter to work day" here in Canada.

We did have "Job shadowing day" though. You had to find a business yourself, ask them to be free slave labor for the day, then write a report on it.

I job shadowed at my local video game rental place. They gave me a giant life size cutout of Deon Sanders promoting Prime Time Football on the 32X. I had that in my room for a couple years. I shared a room with my brother at the time and he would often crash into it trying to beat me to the bathroom in the morning. He was never a morning person and would try to run out the room before me and would crash and burn sometimes because he wasn't completely awake yet:lol

I️ don't think it was a thing really for me as a kid in the 90s. I️ only ever heard of it on tv shows. I️ do remember a few times someone girls would be out of work for "take your daughter to work day" so maybe it was more of a company focused thing instead of part of the school system?

As far as school goes, the most important class I took was a typing class. I was born in 1982 and I didn't have a computer in my house until grade 8 and it was a shitty old 486 with 16mb of ram. It literally could only run windows 95 and nothing else. Which was kind of the point. My grandparents bought it specifically for school. It had wordpad for school reports and that's all it was for(Jokes on them, I figrued out how to get Nesticle on it!)

I was a terrible hunt and peck typer and those 3 years of typing classes I took in high school caught me up to the rich kids who had a computer in their house their entire life. Landed me a couple of jobs back in the days when "must be able to type at X wpm" was in a job description instead of now where you just assume everyone knows how to type.

As far as life classes that need to be taught now:

-How to Google
-How to buy tickets for things

are at the top of my list of courses that need to be taught.

Also a credit teaching course. I remember all my life being told "don't get credit cards, they will wreck you financially".

1, that's like saying never get in a car, you will die in a car crash if you do.
2, the up to 28.8% interest you pay in a credit card is pocket change compared to these payday loan places that are fucking everywhere. There needs to be a course that yells at kids "NEVER USE A PAYDAY LOAN COMPANY" for an entire year.

I was born a decade later and we had a few typing classes. Honestly I️ only ever moved from 20 wpm to 70 ish when I️ discovered IRC Channels haha.

Pre college the best class for me was physics. I️ had a lot of lab reports to type, had to use excel, and that's before having to do any of the math and critical thinking

I got my skills up relaying calls for the hearing impaired. My school classes got me up to 40wpm which landed me that job and I got up to the 60-70 range doing that for 6 months. I remember lots and lots of deaf and hard of hearing people buying brand spanking new Blackberries back then and the cell phone companies refused to offer them any text/bbm only plans. Even if they bought the phone outright, they needed a $60+ minimum plan with a voice component. Always struck me a gross. Took a couple more years for pay as you go dumbphones with keyboards to come out and allow you to just have unlimited texting for $10/month.

I wish Jay would join the Crew, he brings the dynamic together more than the recent guests.

Also, next episodes post Home Movies.

Freakazoid - "Next Time, Phone Ahead/Nerdator"

This was a pick from one of our premium Patreon supporters, though this was definitely on our to-do list anyway. This Kids WB cult hit wasn't appreciated in its time but we'll give this season one episode the love it deserves.

FLCL - The Entire First Season

With new FLCL episodes arriving for the first time in 17 years, we're in the mood to celebrate this wonderfully eclectic punk rock anime. We dig into its history, the music, the random violence and so much more, so sing out the future with us!

Family Guy - "Brian Wallows and Peter Swallows"

So it has come to this... To be honest we've been waiting to do a Family Guy episode since the series began and this feels like the time to pull off the band-aid with this season 3 episode featuring a bird in a beard. We promise this will be a fair and balanced podcast!

Rocko's Modern Life - "Wacky Deli"

After the original trio of Nicktoons, Rocko's Modern Life arrived and was beloved by Gen-X and soon-to-be-millennials alike for its portrayal of everyday problems. Though for our What A Cartoon! we'll get extra meta with Wacky Deli, the final episode that was all about how animation works!

Hyped for Rocko and FLCL

After having listened to all of 372 Pages We'll Never Get Back, I enjoyed Conor Lastowka's appearance on the recent free feed episode. It was like world's colliding.

I had a yearbook in grade 3 for some reason. No other year until grade 7 onward. I don't know why grade 3 happened.

I actually threw all my yearbooks out. I was a friendless loser too and didn't take care of them, and they got damaged over time.

Nothing of value was lost.

My grandparents had a cottage although it wasn't on the beech. Playing terrible old board games likely with missing pieces because the TV gets like one fuzzy channel is totally a cottage thing.

I "made friends" with a neibour kid who had a NES. And by made friends I mean he wasn't nice to me and never let me play but watching video games was the best entertainment option I had.

Speaking as a Canadian, having more then 2 parties wouldn't have changed a thing.

If Kang and Kodos invaded Canada in 1997 and bio duplicated Jean Cretien and Preston Manning, One of then would have still won the election despite there being 3 Other choices.

Plus, they went to Universal Studios and the Simpsons Park, lucky.

WAC this week was amazing only because Wacky Delly is so good and I forgot seeing it years ago.

"You can't even draw stick figures! Your cartoons aren't even funny enough to be on the Family Channel!"

I wanna rewatch the whole series now.

I assume taking your friends on holiday is an American thing too, cos I never ever heard of that growing up. Course beach houses are almost unheard of the UK, but still.

Yeah,

My parents barely wanted to put up with the kids they had during family vacations to the cottage. They sure as hell wouldn't want to look after other peoples children.

Taking a couple of poor kids up to the lake every summer must be considered a tax write-off or something because I saw this a few times when I was young.

Also, it could be a tacit admission that cottage country is actually kind of boring

Am I the only one who kinda wishes they would stick with a permanent third host or just do it themselves?

Hard not to draw the comparison between modern Simpsons guest stars and the podcast - sometimes too much time is spent setting up the guest. Usually they're great people but the episodes can get really long, with laughs and insights less frequent.

I'm mostly in agreement with you. Out of all the guests, Matty Jay and Kat Bailey are the only ones I've really liked. The recent episode with Nina Matsumoto felt like an interview about her career and they happened to have watched the same Simpsons episode recently. That's actually why I'm not a big fan of Everything's Coming Up Simpsons, either. Most of the time I couldn't care less about the guest and the episode revolves around them.

That's actually my least favourite Halloween show they did this week. Out of the classic episodes anyway.

Citizen Kang is one of the all-timers, but the first two segments are just meh. Treehouse of Horror V gets my vote for best.

Segments, I always feel like the first two are weak, and only the last one is good. The show was fine. I liked Nina as a guest for the last one though.

Yeah I have to say I really do miss a permanent third co-host. Guests are fine as a once in a while, but three consistent people seems to help a lot. Maybe I just miss Chris? I realized far too late that he was my favorite of the three. I somehow enjoy Bob more on retronauts. Not sure why. Oh well. Chris is never coming back, not even for a guest appearance.

Bob said on the Talk To The Audience episode this week he's going to try and do a Talking Simpsons live show at Portland Retro Gaming Expo while he's there for Retronauts.

I totally recommend going to Portland Retro Gaming Expo. It's awesome.

Well,

Henry's dad is a pretty big wheel down at the cracker factory.
